Tanglewood Music School provides a wholistic music learning experience for its students. The school organises many recitals and concerts for them to participate in and these provide opportunities for the students to hone their performance skills and build confidence as a person. All their teachers are highly qualified and passionate too. My daughter currently learns under Ms Nina, who is a firm, yet patient violin teacher. She has helped to improve her technical proficiency and confidence in performing in front of others. Tanglewood staff and teachers are also very warm-hearted and are always ready to assist and go out of the way to help my daughter in her music learning journey.

Both my children truly enjoy their classes at Tanglewood! The teachers are highly qualified, professional, and passionate about music education. If you want the best and world class Cello teacher for your children, you must come to Tanglewood. Teacher Patrica is the best teacher that I ever met. I love her passion and patient in teaching my daughter and I can see her improvement immediately in her SYF! Best music school I have so far in Singapore. The staff are superb friendly and responsive, easy to approach to get help.

As a parent, I’ve had a truly positive experience with Tanglewood Music School. The teachers are not only highly skilled and passionate, but the entire staff is incredibly friendly, responsive, and supportive. While the school fees are on the higher side and lessons are based on term packages, the value and quality of education we’ve received make it all worthwhile.
The Tanglewood staff have been very understanding and accommodating whenever we needed to make changes, even with their policies in place. Despite frequent adjustments to our schedule, they’ve always kept me informed without fail—sending updates promptly so we’re never confused and always show up on the correct day. That level of communication and care really stands out.
I’ve also appreciated the consistent communication I’ve had with the staff regarding exams, music pieces, and progress. They’re always willing to offer guidance and helpful advice, which has made a big difference in supporting my child’s learning journey.

I signed up for an introductory cello lesson with Music Mood and it was so interesting and fun that I continued with one-to-one lessons after that! My teacher, Ms Wendy, is super nice, encouraging, and very patient (especially with someone like me who has zero musical background). After five lessons, I could already play a song, though not perfect, but a big achievement for me! I really enjoyed the lessons because there was no stress or pressure, and I could learn at my own pace. You also don’t need to own a cello as they can loan you one to bring home for practice. Highly recommend!

Jayden is one of the best music teachers I have encountered. He is able to diagnose our mistakes and give practical and meaningful solutions. Started with a trial lesson and was instantly hooked! Really enjoyed the teaching style and all the materials they provide - makes learning so much easier. What I love most is being able to learn at my own pace whilst working on personal targets and challenges rather than being rushed through a rigid curriculum.
The location is super convenient too, which is always a bonus when you're trying to fit lessons into a busy schedule.

Me and bestie had loads of fun there, the Cello teacher Wendy was very patience in teaching and guiding us how to use the instrument. We had so much laughter. This is very challenging yet super fun, engaging and interesting musical experience! Such a memorable one!❤️ will definitely try again!!

My preparations of ABRSM Violin examinations in LVL Music Academy have been an amazingly successful and enjoyable experience. Since preparing for my Grade 7 Violin performance and Music Theory examinations from 2023 to 2024, I have been working together with passionate and dedicated teachers to aid on my violin techniques, as well as the historical and cultural elements of music. This has allowed me to gain the relevant skills and knowledge to achieve a Merit for both examinations. Additionally, the annual group orchestral performances organised by the school allowed me to have the opportunity to meet with likeminded individuals, as well as to improve my teamwork and leadership skills. These opportunities also enabled me to perform a solo performance which drastically improved my performance and expression on stage. Progressing towards the Grade 8 Violin examination from 2024 to 2025, I have learned more difficult and complex techniques on the violin. Despite the challenges, the patient and understanding teachers have helped me along the journey to improve my hand-eye coordination, dexterity and ability to keep a composed and expressive mind during the performance. Amazingly, I have successfully achieved a Distinction for the examination! I feel extremely delighted and proud of my achievement and would like to express my appreciation and gratitude towards all LVL Teachers and Staff for giving me the determination and confidence to continue on the journey despite setbacks. Overall, LVL Music Academy has given me the best experience of learning the violin in a conducive and supportive environment, and would use the knowledge and skills learnt in the future with the beautiful instrument of the violin. Bought my first ever handmade violin at LVL Music Academy which is really pretty and it sounds great. During my visit, I was attended by Gavin which is a very friendly guy and are knowledgeable on the instruments. The whole event feels very comfortable and not rushing just to get you to buy the instrument. Im also getting a chance to try other high quality violins even and they all sounds amazing in its unique way. Overall is an amazing experience and hope i had the chance to revisit and upgrade my violin in the future.

Found LVL Music Academy while in the area after seeing all the great reviews, so I brought my old violin for repair. Luthier Mr. Alan was really incredibly patient, attentive, and kind. He explained everything clearly The repair was done beautifully; my violin looks and sounds amazing again after years of neglect. He even took the time to teach me how to tune my violin, which I truly appreciated!

I just attended a short course in "Making a Complete Picture Book with Procreate" with NAFA this year (2026).
It has been a great privilege to learn from a very experienced and professional Procreate Storybook Illustrator, Mr. Josef Lee. In this short span of 7 weeks (one lesson per week for 3 hours), he generously shared with us his storybook creation processes - his idea thumbnail sketches, design developments and thought process. It was truly an amazing experience as we are learning from a very committed storybook designer whose storybooks creations are actually published and can be found in many bookstores, national libraries and even a hotel in Singapore!
Mr. Josef Lee helped us to understand the rigour, the detailed planning, the workflow and the putting together of all the research and ideas to come up with a really enticing read for children and even adults. He was also very helpful in encouraging us to ask questions and answering them all. He respects our privacy and shy disposition as well and gave us one-to-one constructive feedback in our weekly beginner story-creating attempts.
In an overview, we had learnt how to come up with:
- a good storyline and story structure
- storyboarding (in Procreate)
- characters design methods (in Procreate)
- picture composition and layout (in Procreate)
- colour palettes (in Procreate)
- digital drawing, colouring and animating (in Procreate)
- exporting our digital artworks into an eBook, and more...
He has also shared with us successful examples by other internationally renowned storybook creators. The takeaways that he shared from his journeys of constant storybook creations and readings to children are very meaningful... such as - The lesser you draw, the harder your text will have to work to provide the information for your story.

Just ended the Guitar (Strum and Pluck) short course and loved it! The trainer, Guoliang is very patient and knowledgeable, making every lesson worth it. My only wish is that the course had more than 6 sessions because I enjoyed it so much!

It was a genuinely rewarding experience—guided by a wonderful trainer, Nhawfal Juma’at and shared with an enthusiastic group of classmates from all walks of life, all taking time to reconnect with their creative side. Completed Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Watercolour courses and it has been a truly rewarding and fulfilling learning journey. I only wish each level had more sessions because the time always felt too short!
One of the highlights was meeting people who share the same interest in watercolour. My classmates were incredibly supportive — we cheered each other on, shared experiences and often continued conversations over lunch or coffee after lessons. It made the learning experience even more enjoyable and motivating.
Our instructor Edwin Ho, is patient and supportive of our learning. He encourages us, while giving us challenges that push us out of our comfort zones, which really helped us grow and improve.
With the National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy and the use of SkillsFuture credits, the courses are even more affordable for those aged 50 and above, which is a wonderful initiative.
Overall, a wonderful experience. We definitely need more watercolour sessions!

This review is written from the perspective of a prospective applicant, who was rejected, appealed and rejected again (Diploma in Theatre)
I don't feel respected as a prospective applicant given how NAFA charges $75 for an application which I disagree with, and I went through the whole process only to get rejected.
To be upfront, I was rejected from LASALLE College of The Arts twice and a lecturer from LASALLE referred me to join NAFA citing my monologging skills were better suited to NAFA's style of teaching.
But after all that, I got rejected and so did my appeal, and the email I got felt very impersonal like I'm just another person they said no to, with very little warmth.
What really gets to me is that I'm now out $75.
I'm merely an ITE graduate with an aspiration to act but I don't come from a wealthy background, I have meagre savings and I and scrimp and save every dollar I get get ahold of and used $75 of it for a potential application. All that, all the rehearsing I did just to be rejected with a typical "preset reply" in the email I got.
And I also wanted to note, the Lecturer who replied to me, Elynn said nothing about appeals. It was only a NAFA admin member who advised me to appeal which was how I came to know I could appeal. It's as if they don't want rejects to appeal thinking "We rejected you, so accept it"
Either way I got rejected, and so was my appeal. I would be upset about the rejection but that's life in the industry I so wanted to join, rejection happens.
But again what gets to me is how I'm out $75 and stuck with a "Sorry, you're rejected" email. If the cost of application was more reasonable, I would not be writing this review, but it's $75 and I was rejected anyway. I would not mind as much if it cost around $20-30 to apply, but it's $75 which is no small amount for someone who just graduated from a Higher NITEC course and is struggling to find a job.
So after all this, I don't feel respected. The point is that applications should not cost $75 knowing you can be rejected.
Being told to pay $75 and getting rejected just feels like being kicked when you're down which is how I felt.
I don't have many positive things to say about LASALLE either as I also did not feel respected there either, but at the very least, they offer 3 free applications whereas NAFA does not.
So to summarize, I'm more affected by being out $75 AND getting rejected. NAFA should pick one, not both. Either let me pay $75 and promise me a slot or don't charge as high and reject me. You can't have your cake and eat it too is what I have to say.
There is no such thing as an audition where you have to pay for a chance to learn, not a guaranteed slot, except here at NAFA.

I would not mind as much if it cost around $20-30 to apply, but it's $75 which is no small amount for someone who just graduated from a Higher NITEC course and is struggling to find a job.
So after all this, I don't feel respected. The point is that applications should not cost $75 knowing you can be rejected.
Being told to pay $75 and getting rejected just feels like being kicked when you're down which is how I felt.
I don't have many positive things to say about LASALLE either as I also did not feel respected there either, but at the very least, they offer 3 free applications whereas NAFA does not.
So to summarize, I'm more affected by being out $75 AND getting rejected. NAFA should pick one, not both. Either let me pay $75 and promise me a slot or don't charge as high and reject me. You can't have your cake and eat it too is what I have to say.
There is no such thing as an audition where you have to pay for a chance to learn, not a guaranteed slot, except here at NAFA.

Our 12 year old child needed to upgrade his violin in size from a 3/4 to full, and quality from a beginner to something better. We casually tried out some violins at several violin shops and felt most comfortable at Stradivari Strings. Rita is super knowledgeable of the instruments--both musically and technically--and guided my child through his violin and violin bow selection process. She listened to what my musician's preferences are and expectations of his instrument and presented him with the different violins for him to try. She encouraged my violinist to try as many violins to find the one that he enjoys playing most and the sound he likes best. After selecting the violin, Rita curated some bows to pair with the violin. Melody Strings is a very well-run and well-organized music school with a great facility. My son has been learning violin here and is now preparing for his Level 5 exam, right on track with expectations. Teacher D has been exactly the right fit for him — striking the perfect balance between encouragement and raising expectations step by step. Xin jie has been the most patient teacher from the beginning till now. As an adult beginner/teenager I feel her classes are the perfect pace for me. I do enjoy learning at my own pace and xin jie never fails to help me through it. She is very helpful and gives insightful feedback and notes after classes so that we can work on it before the nest lesson which I appreciate as well:) The class materials provided is very helpful to slowly introduce you to the violin and I liked how easy it was to follow it. Not mentioning how encouraging xin Jie is even if you are making most horrid sounds:) I have definitely been the happiest coming to classes and learning from such a patient and kind teacher! I’m very happy with the tutoring service arranged by Alyssa and her team. Both tutors (Xinbo and Ban Cheng) have been great and my child really enjoys the lessons with them. We can already see some improvement, which is very encouraging.

It has truly been a blessing to find Mr. Tan Tiam Teng as my son’s Chinese tutor.
