Introduction

Game Design classes give children a practical way to combine coding, storytelling, visual creativity and logical problem-solving. Singapore parents can choose from weekly coding pathways, focused holiday camps, school-based programmes and advanced courses using platforms such as Scratch, Minecraft, Roblox and Unity. The right Game Design class depends on a child’s age, technical experience, preferred learning pace and interest in creating games rather than simply playing them. Class size, instructor support, equipment and progression pathways are also worth considering. This guide compares 10 Game Design centres in Singapore, with overviews, Google reviews, locations, prices and contact details to help parents find a suitable fit.

I have tried many Robotic Training Centers and Kodecoon caught my attention right after the trial class.
Ms. Cara is an excellent admin member who is very observant and sharp in seeing the potential and strengths in the children. What impresses me even more is her patience with parents, especially those who are very new to this Robotic & DSA aspect like me. She spent hours with me in person and over the phone to explain very clearly the course outline and company policy in transparency. I felt very confident to sign up my son!

My son really enjoyed his weekly Robotic classes at Kodecoon Novena Regency. His teachers are very attentive, fun and able to convey knowledge to the children well.

Teacher Yael, the DSA program trainer, is very attentive, friendly and supportive. She takes good care in guiding the children and ensures they understand the concepts well.

Coach Zen, the FLL competition trainer, is super fun, friendly and engaging. I am very impressed by his insightful assessment of my son's potential and areas for improvement.

The rest of admin team is also very helpful and always provides prompt assistance whenever needed

Overall, I feel very rest-assured that my son is well-prepping for his DSA application and achieving strongly knowledge in Robotics

I do recommend Kodecoon Academy Center to parents who are looking for a trustful and high quality Robotic classes for your children

My son has been attending robotics classes at this center for over a year, and our experience has been excellent. He truly looks forward to each class and has become noticeably more focused, better able to complete tasks, and eager to challenge himself by taking on extra activities.

He is a very creative child, and the classes have helped him develop strong critical-thinking skills and resilience. The teachers are fantastic and consistently provide timely and constructive feedback. They also prepare the children for competitions. Although we haven’t been able to participate yet due to overseas travel, we are very much looking forward to the opportunity to train and join competitions in the future.

The Robotics classes at Kodecoon have truly become one of my son’s absolute favourite activities. He has been attending for over six months now, and the growth we’ve seen has been remarkable. The programme has not only nurtured his interest in robotics and technology, but has also helped him develop independence, confidence, and a genuine love for learning.
The lessons are thoughtfully structured, engaging, and encourage children to think critically while learning at their own pace. A special mention to Teacher Zen, who is excellent — patient and encouraging.
We are very happy with our experience and would highly recommend Kodecoon to parents looking for a supportive and enriching learning environment for their child.

Excellent coding program for kids! My son started his coding journey at Young Maker at Kovan with their Scratch module, and I'm impressed with how well-structured their curriculum is. He has now progressed to the MicroBit module, and I can see his confidence and skills growing with each lesson.

The instructors do a fantastic job of making coding accessible and engaging for young learners. The progression from Scratch to MicroBit is seamless and builds upon previous concepts beautifully. My son looks forward to every class and comes home excited to share what he's learned.

What I particularly appreciate is how the program balances fun with solid learning fundamentals. The hands-on approach with MicroBit has really sparked my son's interest in hardware programming and problem-solving.

Highly recommend Young Maker at Kovan for any parent looking to introduce their child to coding in a supportive and well-organized environment. The investment in my son's digital literacy and logical thinking skills has been worthwhile.

Thank you to the team for nurturing young minds and making coding accessible!
We found the young maker through the National library free trail lesson for coding. My son attended and it never stops from there.

My son began his coding journey at the age of 7 and now robotics at 10 years old, the growth we’ve seen in him has been truly impressive. Over the past three years, he has developed not only strong foundational coding skills in platforms like Scratch and Python, but also hands-on experience in robotics—designing, building.

The teaching team has been incredibly supportive and engaging, nurturing his curiosity while introducing advanced concepts in a fun and age-appropriate way. Each lesson is thoughtfully structured to challenge students while keeping them motivated and excited to learn.

This program has also helped him prepare for Direct School Admission (DSA) to secondary school. Through his coding and robotics projects, he has built an impressive portfolio that showcases his creativity, logical thinking, and perseverance—key qualities sought by many DSA programs.

We are grateful for how this class has not only developed his technical skills but also boosted his confidence and passion for technology. Highly recommended for any parent looking to give their child a strong and enjoyable foundation in both coding and robotics.

As a parent, I’m glad my child had the chance to attend Computhink Academy. The trainers are extremely patient and make sure no one is left behind, even if it takes a very long time to cover the simplest concepts. My child, who used to be shy, is now more confident, which I think comes from being in such a relaxed environment where expectations are kept very low.

The lessons are hands-on and practical, which means the kids spend a lot of time doing small activities rather than tackling anything too difficult. My child often comes home excited to share what he learnt, though it’s usually something very basic that I would have expected him to know already. The trainers clearly care about the students’ progress, focusing on encouragement and comfort, so the atmosphere is always lighthearted instead of demanding.

Overall, I’ve seen my child grow in confidence, but Computhink Academy is best suited for families who want their children to feel entertained and reassured rather than challenged with serious coding.

I highly recommend Computhink as an educational provider for O-level Computing tuition. I find the teacher an engaging and competent teacher. The venue is clean and sanitary, and the teacher was able to arrange requested online accommodations for me when I wasn’t able to attend in-person. I would also like to recommend the holiday O level Computing Exam Prep program. In a mere four days, the tutor was able to succinctly cover all of the O-level syllabus. Thank you Mr. David for my A in Computing!

I enrolled my son into Computhink at the start of Sec 4 because in Sec 3 he scored F9 for his Computing subject. After attending teacher David's lessons, not only his confidence level increased, he also managed to score an A2 for his O-levels in Computing!

Compared to his school, my son says that teacher David is patient, kind and knowledgable. His teaching is clear and in-depth, and since the class was quite small, teacher David could help all of the students individually and help bolster their knowledge of computing.

I cannot but highly recommend Computhink as it has done well to prepare my son for his O level Computing subject as evidenced by his O level scores!

My son started his Robotics and Coding training journey since 2021 and I would say this is one of the best enrichment investment. My first liaison began with the founder directly, who is a well known and certified instructor. He shared a very precise journey the centre and my son can work together to meet our requirements. We have never looked back since.

The training centre provides a good mix of theory and practice that helped the students engage with the instructor. The practical training was a very good use of time/resources and the practical skills were de-constructed in a very useful and understandable way. The training received was a very comprehensive one with supportive trainer. The techniques were put across in an excellent way, where this is particularly important as the students are well guided with their project making , which eventually paved them to the competition readiness held on an annual basis. The win results from the students speaks it all…

These experiences has positively impacted my son’s thought-process making. Overall it was a very professionally delivered training session and one which we highly recommend.

For over 4 decades, the Singapore Science Centre has been the fixture of our country's audacious foray into science & technology, centred right at the heart of Jurong East. This place held so many memories for me & for Primary School students who grew up in the 2000s & I am so glad the old whismical installations of the Kinetic Garden were retained. Every perimeter of the Centre is dedicated to fun exhilarating exhibits & fascinating trivia guests can take home. 40 years forward, SSC is not stopping in their relentless mission to deliver wonder for families.

The Science Centre Singapore is truly a great-value, clean, spacious place that’s perfect for families with young children. Instead of taking your kids to crowded indoor playgrounds in shopping malls, this is where they can touch, play, explore, and learn in the most fun and natural way.

The space is airy and well-organised, with plenty of interactive zones like light, water, robotics, nature and more. Children can freely run around while parents feel completely at ease because everything is designed to be educational and safe.

This is definitely a spot I will keep coming back to whenever I visit Singapore, because every visit feels like a new experience for both kids and adults. Highly recommended for families travelling with little ones!

My children are going through the exposure modules. Their experience is amazing. The teachers are very patient and explained the steps clearly. They also provided a wide exposure to many different coding experiences and platforms which allows parents to discover our child’s strengths and niche. Teachers are motivating and cheerful. Their belief in gender equality in the domain of STEM is truly inspirational. Empire code also partners with Social Enterprises which teach children empathy and their contribution towards helping the needy. Thank you Empire Code!

My child has been attending this robotics class for almost two years, starting from when he was 4 years old, and he has never missed a class. He looks forward to it every week and is always very excited after class to show me what he has built. He is especially proud of toggling between different commands to make the robot perform different actions.

We’re really glad we found this place, and he has truly enjoyed learning here. I would definitely recommend it to friends who are looking for a robotics class for their kids.

My son had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday at Empire Code with his classmate. Thanks to Empire Code to set up all the decoration and conduct the fun coding class according to my son's favourite character which is Pokemon. He and his friends were enjoying creating their own pikachu and learnt how to do coding with it. After that we had our party meal and also cutting birthday cake. Thanks to Empire Code to make my son's birthday unforgettable!

How to Choose the Best Game Design Class for Your Child

  • Age suitability: Confirm that the software, instructions and project complexity suit your child’s age and current technical ability.
  • Instructor experience: Ask about teachers’ programming knowledge and experience guiding children through technology projects.
  • Learning pathway: Look for a clear progression from visual coding to scripting, debugging and more independent game creation.
  • Design coverage: Check whether lessons address mechanics, storytelling, artwork, level design and player experience alongside coding.
  • Entry level: Establish whether the programme welcomes complete beginners or expects prior familiarity with coding.
  • Class attention: Consider whether class sizes allow instructors to notice errors, answer questions and provide individual feedback promptly.
  • Project ownership: Ask how much creative control children receive instead of reproducing an instructor’s completed game.
  • Technical equipment: Confirm whether laptops, software licences, robotics kits and other required tools are included in the fees.
  • Online safety: Understand how instructors supervise online platforms, shared worlds, accounts and communication features used during lessons.
  • Progress feedback: Check whether families receive project updates, assessment results or clear explanations of skills their child has developed.
  • Portfolio opportunities: Consider whether completed games can be documented for personal portfolios, competitions or future school applications.
  • Creative balance: Choose lessons that combine structured technical foundations with enough room for experimentation and original ideas.
  • Schedule flexibility: Compare lesson timings, holiday formats, make-up policies and travelling time from home or school.
  • Fee clarity: Review registration costs, device rental, materials, trial lessons and payment commitments before selecting a package.
  • Child compatibility: Match the programme’s pace, teaching ethos and classroom environment with your child’s confidence, interests and goals.

It has truly been a blessing to find Mr. Tan Tiam Teng as my son’s Chinese tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated—qualities that have made a huge difference in my son’s learning journey.
