Entering IP Year 1 can feel unexpectedly demanding, especially when English lessons move beyond familiar grammar exercises into close reading, analytical discussion and more independent writing. This guide to the Top 10 IP Year 1 English Tuition Centres in Singapore helps parents compare programmes by curriculum fit, teaching approach, feedback, class size, accessibility and fees. As individual IP schools may teach different texts, skills and assessment components, a suitable class should respond to your child’s actual schoolwork rather than follow an unrelated sequence. Some children need clearer comprehension frameworks, while others need steady help developing arguments, selecting evidence or expressing mature ideas. The options below cover specialist IP English tuition, small-group classes, online learning and personalised home tuition for families seeking focused support during this important transition.
Key Takeaways
Prioritise IP Year 1 English tuition that matches your child’s school curriculum, assessment demands and current gaps in reading or writing.
Small classes and individual tuition may suit quieter children needing frequent feedback, while discussion-based groups can build confidence and analytical thinking.
Compare lesson format, tutor experience, marking support, travel time and fees, rather than choosing an IP English tuition centre by results alone.
MindFlex – Your Best Platform for IP Year 1 English Home Tuition
Overview of Business
MindFlex Tuition Agency connects Singapore families with private tutors for personalised IP Year 1 English tuition at home or online. Rather than following one fixed classroom curriculum, the agency matches each child according to school requirements, English weaknesses, preferred schedule, budget and tutor profile. This flexibility may be helpful when an IP school emphasises particular comprehension, writing, Language Arts or presentation skills at a faster pace. A tutor can align lessons with current assignments, revisit unclear techniques and leave more time for questions than a larger class usually permits. MindFlex has a network of more than 50,000 active tutors, giving parents options across different qualifications and teaching styles. Its matching service is free for families, who can review recommended profiles before confirming lessons with a suitable tutor.
Why Parents Choose MindFlex?
Parents may choose MindFlex when their child needs individual attention rather than another fixed group programme. One-to-one lessons can focus on weak comprehension responses, underdeveloped arguments, vocabulary gaps or writing feedback linked directly to the child’s IP schoolwork. Home and online arrangements may also reduce travel pressure during weeks packed with CCA commitments and assignments. Coordinators are available seven days a week, while the TUTOR EXPRESS™ service may provide suitable profiles within six hours when families need support quickly.

1. The Learning Lab
Overview of Business
The Learning Lab has provided academic programmes in Singapore since 2001 and has grown to include 300 teachers across 10 centres. Its Integrated Programme classes support IP Year 1 to 4 learners, with English lessons centred on critical discussion, close analysis, higher-order thinking and sustained practice. More than 40 curriculum specialists research, write, edit and design lesson materials that follow school learning while drawing on current, real-world themes. This structure may suit IP Year 1 children adjusting to quicker pacing, deeper comprehension and questions that require interpretation rather than straightforward recall. Through the TLL Method, learners practise encoding, retrieving and applying knowledge across different contexts. This may help children who understand a passage during class but find it difficult to construct clear, independent responses supported by relevant evidence.
Why Parents Choose The Learning Lab?
Parents may consider The Learning Lab when their child needs structured English support while adapting to IP Year 1 expectations. Lessons combine curriculum alignment, thoughtful discussion, higher-order questions and real-world themes, rather than focusing mainly on repetitive language exercises. In-house resources and digital practices may make revision between lessons more manageable, especially when school assignments demand greater independence than Primary-level work. With several locations and an online option, families may also find it easier to fit tuition around CCA commitments, homework and travel time during this demanding transition year.
My child changed his class times and hence teacher mid way through the term and got Mr John Anthony as his English teacher. Mr Anthony is detailed, connects with parents to provide valuable feedback for improvements and my child likes him too. Unfortunately Mr Anthony is leaving but we highly appreciate his time as English teacher for my child.
My P4 son has had the privilege to be taught English by Mr John Anthony, an exceptional teacher. From the very first lesson, our son shared that he never felt rushed nor discouraged when things were difficult, and that Mr Anthony always took the time to explain concepts clearly and at a comfortable pace. What truly set Mr Anthony apart was his ability to make every lesson genuinely fun and enjoyable; our son would come home excited to share what he had learned, which, as any parent knows, is no small feat. Beyond keeping lessons engaging, he had a remarkable talent for motivating our son to push past his comfort zone and strive to do better — not through pressure, but through encouragement and belief in his potential. The progress we have seen has been tremendous, and we have no doubt that it is a direct reflection of his dedication and passion for teaching. We are deeply grateful for everything he has done.
My kid attending teacher John Anthony English lesson. He enjoys so much and look forward to attend every lesson. Teacher Anthony is very kind and respond to my questions promptly. A very nice and thoughtful teacher in TLL
We are incredibly thankful to Mr John Anthony from The Learning Lab for his dedication and passion in teaching English. He has been patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in his students' growth. His engaging lessons and thoughtful guidance have not only helped build strong language skills but have also nurtured confidence and a love for learning. Thank you, Mr John, for your unwavering commitment and for making such a positive difference in your students' learning journey.
Teacher John Anthony is a very kind and helpful educator. He knows exactly how to guide children to make steady progress step by step. His classes are absolutely worth attending — his engaging and lively teaching style motivates students to learn in a joyful and positive environment. My daughter really likes him a lot!
I’m deeply thankful to my son’s teacher, John, who consistently goes the extra mile. He keeps a close eye on my son’s progress, ensures he stays attentive in class, and updates me promptly. Just before we left for the holidays, he even took the time to teach my son how to pack his bag properly and instil the importance of good habits such as keeping his files and bag neat and organised.
Ms Siu Yan is one of the best teachers in TLL. My child achieved an AL1 in the PSLE Science exam thanks to the teacher’s guidance. ms Siu Yan is extremely patient and meticulous, and the teaching methods are engaging and effective. My child loves the Science lessons very much.
My children attended English and Science classes at The Learning Lab Marine Parade, and I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for two outstanding teachers: Mr Koh Rongming (English) and Ms Ng Siu Yan (Science).
English and Science used to be my elder kid’s weakest subjects, but under their guidance, she scored AL1 for both in PSLE — something we never imagined possible.
Mr Koh is incredibly engaging and humorous. His lessons are never boring, and he has a unique way of making even difficult concepts easy to understand.
Ms Ng is extremely responsible and dedicated. Her explanations are always clear, structured, and easy for students to grasp.
Both teachers demonstrate a high level of professionalism and genuine care for their students. My child absolutely loves learning from them, and we are truly grateful for their hard work and commitment.
That said, their classes are always in high demand and often fully booked. I secretly wish my younger kid will still be able to get a place with them. A small part of me hesitated to share this review — but great teachers deserve recognition, and people should know about them.
Mrs Low, the Science SH at Parkway Parade, has made an extraordinary impact on my child’s learning journey. She brings Science to life in the classroom and has guided him with dedication and purpose towards achieving his PSLE Science goals.
Her firm yet supportive approach has taught him the value of responsibility—ensuring that every assignment is completed to the best of his ability and that mistakes are embraced as opportunities to learn. She also made extra mile to update me of his progress and areas of improvement.
Even though the early morning supplementary lessons can be challenging for students, Mrs Low’s warmth and generosity shine through. Her thoughtful gesture of providing her students with sumptuous breakfast, coupled with her engaging and lively lessons, has made them look forward to attending with genuine eagerness.
We are deeply grateful for her passion, commitment, and care.
The Learning Lab is the best tuition center we have our kid enrolled to. He has tried different tuition centers during his primary school but settled at TLL(Marine Parade). The teachers are very enthusiastic and always go the extra mile to update parents on the child’s strength and weaknesses, learning progress and how they can improve on. We would strongly recommend TLL to parents who wants their child to improve their grades and learning in academics.

Academia is an English-focused tuition and enrichment centre founded in 2013, with a clearly defined IP English and Language Arts pathway. Its IP Year 1 programme sits at Level 3A and uses weekly small-group tutorials, scaffolded in-house materials, discussion, writing practice and feedback. Text-based work and deconstruction frameworks may help children adjust when IP English expects close analysis rather than straightforward comprehension recall. Controlled writing and checkpoint tasks provide repeated opportunities to organise ideas, select evidence and improve expression. Academia also uses its Cogito learning system for blended resources, work tracking and progress monitoring between lessons. For parents comparing IP Year 1 English tuition centres, this subject specialisation may suit a child who needs systematic support across reading, analysis and written communication.
Why Parents Choose Academia?
Parents may consider Academia because IP Year 1 Language Arts is explicitly supported rather than treated as ordinary lower-secondary English. Small-group lessons allow children to discuss interpretations while still receiving targeted feedback on writing and comprehension. In-house materials are refined by a curriculum team, which may offer greater continuity than disconnected worksheets gathered from several sources. Regular assessment, progress tracking and parent updates can also help families see whether a child is adapting to IP expectations or quietly beginning to fall behind.
Both my kids only joined academia when they were in P6. They attended other tuitions previously but their progress were stuck in AL3. With Academia excellent Teachers and top notch lessons and materials, my girl managed to have a breakthrough, her result improved to AL2 then AL1 for first time for her prelim. My boy’s English has a tremendous improvement as well. His result was always fluctuate in the past. After he attended Academia, his result was getting better and more consistent. Most importantly, both of them gained confidence for their PSLE as Academia helped them to prepare all the English components. Thank you Academia.
I think the teachers are very responsible and through their patient guidance, my child’s English grades has improved by leaps and bounds. They have done an amazing job. Thank you Mr Loh, Mr Singh and all the members of the A team!
My child joined Academia during his P6 Term 1. Just over the few months till the PSLE, we noticed the great improvement he has achieved in his English language and how much he has benefited from the tuition, especially in composition writing.
Kudos to Mr Johann Loh and the assistant teacher! Mr Johann Loh is very professional and dedicated to his students. I am also very impressed by the syllabus and contents that Academia has put together for P6 students.
The admin team has been very prompt and supportive to respond to our queries as well.
The entire learning journey has been an extremely satisfactory experience for us the parents and the child. I will be more than happy to recommend Academia to those who require supplementary learning.
The child entered the center to study in the new semester of Primary Six. Thank you Mr Lor for carefully preparing and correcting the materials for the child before and after class. Thanks to the teacher for always communicating with our parents about the child's learning problems and solutions in a timely manner, so that we have enough confidence to face For English learning, in the primary six learning stage, Mr Lor relieved my child's psychological pressure in time, and helped my child like a friend like a brother. I am very grateful and grateful to the teachers for their efforts. I love you all.
Our girls have been attending classes in Academia for years. The teachers are highly qualified and driven. They are passionate and take pride in their work. On many occasions, they have spent time helping our girls in class and after class. Never failed to answer any questions we had. The teachers provide clarity and concise answers with good examples so that we can fully comprehend. The learning materials given are like no other. It is carefully crafted and curated to a high level of expectation specifically to prepare and develop the students further. On top of that, Academia also uploaded many quizzes and practices online for students. We am truly heartened by their efforts and am thankful that our girls have shown vast improvement and doing well. Thank you A team for your awesome service!

The Rationale Thinking is a language-focused learning centre offering IP English for IP Year 1-4 from its Upper Thomson location. Mr Edwin Wong personally coaches the English programme and brings more than 14 years of teaching experience, a law degree and previous professional experience in international banking. For IP Year 1, lessons introduce linguistic concepts for comprehension alongside creative writing for personal recount essays. The wider programme also connects Language Arts with critical analysis of current affairs, which may help children build content knowledge and communicate ideas more precisely. Classes are kept in controlled groups so learners can exchange perspectives without disappearing into a very large cohort. This format may suit children who need direct specialist guidance while adjusting to deeper language analysis and faster IP pacing.
Why Parents Choose The Rationale Thinking?
Parents may choose The Rationale Thinking when they want their child taught directly by the programme’s principal coach. The IP Year 1 syllabus has a defined focus on comprehension concepts and personal recount writing, making its starting scope easier to compare with school needs. Discussion between learners may strengthen critical thinking, while curated materials provide structured practice rather than unrelated worksheets. Testimonials mentioning detailed feedback and consultations may also appeal when a child needs mistakes explained carefully instead of simply receiving a score.
Mr Wong is a dedicated English teacher who motivated my elder son with dyslexia to love English language. Under Mr Wong's innovative teaching, my elder son has improved his English from a failing or passable grade to a B3 grade in his O level. I am very grateful of Mr Wong for building up my elder son's self esteem during the 3 years with Mr Wong. I am very sure my 2nd son who is currently studying in Rationale Thinking Learning Centre will score well for his O level English this year.
I had first joined Mr Wong’s classes when I was in Secondary 1, back in 2015, and my improvement in English has been evident ever since. Due to his constantly progressive teaching methodologies and not to mention, his engaging classes, I could always gain an edge over most of my classmates in terms of the command of the language. This “edge” that I have gained has proven to be effective as I was able to clinch the top few spots for English amongst the entire cohort in the Lower Secondary. Mr Wong is extremely patient in his teaching and he never fails to adopt an inclusive culture as he frequently asks for our opinions on ways to better cater to our needs. Besides his aptitude for teaching, an added bonus is the notes he painstakingly prepares for us every week - which include Linguistics, Essay writing and Oral. With due credit to his efficacious teaching, I am still doing well in English up till now and I truly believe that if Mr Wong were to be given sufficient time with a student, he/she will surely be able to improve and achieve consistent stellar results for the subject.
My son Darius, was taught by Mr Wong from 2017 till 2018.
My son had always shared with me how he enjoyed Mr Wong’s lessons. Mr Wong is so willing to share his wealth of knowledge in an engaging manner. He is passionate and dedicated about his job. As a mom, Mr Wong never fails to reply to my message.
We were so happy that Darius scored A for his 2018 A level examinations.
Mr Wong taught me GP when I was in JC1 back in 2015. I was never fond of English as a subject but Mr Wong made lessons fun and intriguing. He shares his wealth of knowledge in an engaging manner, making classes less boring. Not only is Mr Wong well-equipped with general knowledge, he is passionate and dedicated about his job. He goes down to every individual to check and guide them and actively replies to our questions despite it being out of his working hours. I hope that Mr Wong will be able to continue imparting knowledge to his future students.
Mr Wong is a very dedicated teacher. Through his tireless effort and interesting lessons, he has played a great role in helping Andrew, my son attain a higher level of confidence in handling his English. Mr Wong's indefatigable spirit and passion in his teaching has touched many students under his tutelage.

Learning Journey Education Centre offers IP English support for IP Year 1-4 through physical and live online classes. Its programme can be adjusted to a child’s school curriculum, an important consideration because IP schools may introduce English components in different sequences. Lessons address comprehension, summary writing, essay writing and current affairs, with assignments, weakness-focused coaching and individual feedback included in the approach. Class sizes are capped centre-wide at one teacher to eight students, while selected secondary and IP classes may have four to eight learners. This scale may give quieter IP Year 1 children more opportunities to ask questions after a rapid school lesson. Families also receive live instruction rather than relying solely on prerecorded material, with resources couriered to online learners.
Parents may shortlist Learning Journey Education Centre for its smaller classes and ability to customise teaching around a child’s school curriculum. This may be useful when school assignments reveal a particular weakness in summary writing, comprehension or essay development rather than English generally. Live online teaching offers real-time feedback while reducing travel time, which can matter once CCA and homework demands increase. Open parent-teacher communication may also help families respond early when a child’s confidence or assessment performance begins to slip.
Teacher Sarah has been very kind and supportive during my learning journey. Even though I only studied with her for about two months before my A Levels, she helped me improve my GP and guided me to analyse topics more deeply. I especially enjoyed the arts topics we discussed, and she used different types of questions to help me think more critically. Through her guidance, I learned how to develop clearer arguments for both EQ and AQ, and eventually achieved a B for my A Level GP.
Had an enriching experience at Learning Journey Education Centre throughout my JC years with Teacher Sarah who was dedicated to helping her students achieve excellence in GP, helping me in finally attaining an A grade in A Levels
Currently in IP4, I joined LJEC at the start of Secondary 3 after not doing well in Secondary 2, where my results were around a B3. Within just one year, my grade improved to an A1 consistently.
The lessons at LJEC are highly structured and carefully planned, with a clear understanding of what schools and examiners are looking out for, ensuring that each lesson is focused and effective. A wide range of useful and comprehensive materials is provided, which helped me feel well prepared and more confident during my school examinations.
My teacher, Ms Sarah, is dedicated and experienced, and she provided consistent and strong guidance throughout the year. Her feedback was clear, specific, and constructive, helping me refine my work, while her engaging lessons kept me motivated and supported steady improvement over time.
Overall, I’m very grateful for my experience at LJEC and would highly recommend it to students who are struggling or aiming to improve their grades.
My daughter went back to LJEC in P6 (after stopping for 2 years) and showed great improvement in her PSLE English, moving from AL4 in Primary 5 to AL2. She really enjoyed the lessons with Teacher Hema, who made learning engaging and easy to understand. The lessons helped build her confidence, improve her language skills, and develop better exam techniques. We are very thankful to Teacher Hema for her dedication and support.
I enrolled my son for PSLE English with LJEC earlier this year, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. The lessons were clear, engaging, and highly effective. With consistent guidance, my son grew in confidence and eventually achieved AL1 in PSLE English.
I’m especially grateful to Teacher Sarah for her detailed feedback and personalised support, which made a huge difference in his preparation. I would highly recommend LJEC to all parents looking for quality English guidance and real results.

Future Academy is a small-group tuition centre founded in 2015 by former top-school educators Ms Yvonne Chen and Mr Jason Lau. Its Integrated Programme provision includes IP English and Language Arts alongside several other IP subjects, with support offered across the secondary years. Classes maintain a maximum teacher-to-student ratio of one to six across onsite, hybrid and online modes. For an IP Year 1 child, that smaller setting may make it easier to seek clarification, contribute to discussion and receive feedback on written work. The centre’s broader approach uses structured materials, progress tracking and support through WhatsApp or email between lessons. Parents should confirm how the IP English curriculum aligns with their child’s school sequence, current texts and assessment components before selecting a class.
Why Parents Choose Future Academy?
Parents may consider Future Academy when their child needs a smaller learning environment than a large, lecture-style class. A maximum group size of six can support closer observation, prompt feedback and peer discussion without overwhelming a reserved learner. Hybrid flexibility may also help families maintain lesson continuity during busy school weeks or unexpected schedule changes. As published details cover the wider IP provision, parents should ask specifically about Year 1 reading, writing, Language Arts and assessment coverage.
Ms Chen is very knowledgeable, super responsible and supportive towards my son’s learning journey in Math.Highly recommended to the students who needs guidance and support in Math
My tutor is nice caring and supportive and she’s a very good teacher and help brush up my math. She goes the extra mile in guiding me. Highly recommended.
I go to tuition here for Math lessons. Ms Yvonne Chen is very helpful and patient with her students and always stops to ensure everyone understands the content fully before continuing. Under her guidance and help my math results have steadily improved and i strongly recommend anyone looking for tuition to attend Future Academy.
I attended class here when my GPA for math was very bad. In Y2 I managed to get a 4.0 after one year of lessons! Very grateful for the entertaining and enriching lessons. There is also good use of digital tools to enhance learning, even if one cannot make it physically, they are able to attend the lesson online in a way that is equally educational.
It is amazing, the teachers are great there and I really enjoyed it. I really recommend it because it helped me with my math a lot and it is a very good place to learn. I think it was very good that I chose to go here because it was so worth it. I felt very safe and I could ask any question, and they would help explain how to get to the answers. I think that it was very amazing that they print sheets for you to work on based on what your doing and I think that was a thing I had never seen before. I think they have amazing teachers and the teachers would sit down with you and explain each question you did not understand. It really helped me improve in math and I think it got me more confident in myself and not wondering if I was right, and instead knowing I am right. It was really great and I think Ms. Chen is a great teacher.
Excellent and all-rounded tuition centre. Provides tuition of a variety of subjects with highly dedicated and amazing teachers! They are extremely helpful and do their best to help you whatever problem you have. For IP Year 1 children, this combination may support the shift from basic comprehension towards closer reasoning, clearer expression and more deliberate writing choices. Families should still compare class content with their child’s school because IP English and Language Arts expectations can vary.
Why Parents Choose Eureka Edvantage Learning Hub?
Parents may consider Eureka Edvantage Learning Hub for its specialist English orientation and experienced teaching team. Step-by-step writing methods may suit children who have ideas but struggle to organise them into coherent responses. Critical-thinking strategies also address grammar, vocabulary, cloze and comprehension, giving lessons a broader language base rather than concentrating only on essays. Hybrid access and individualised feedback may appeal to families seeking flexibility while retaining teacher interaction, especially when a child needs misconceptions corrected through discussion.
Mrs Diana Tham is an absolute legend. She combines deep knowledge with boundless enthusiasm, making LangLit lessons both effective and genuinely fun. Her passion for the subject is so powerful, it could probably revive a dead poet. She’s funny, engaging, and somehow makes even the most difficult texts engaging. Thanks to her, I not only got a 6 in IB LangLit but also actually enjoyed the process. If you want a tutor who makes you laugh while teaching you how to ace your essays, Mrs Tham is the one!
I recently attended the university guidance webinar organised by Eureka. As a J2 student who is currently exploring different paths for university, this webinar was extremely helpful! Through the webinar, I learnt some useful interview tips for different courses, gained insights on what it's like to study overseas and gained good advice on how to decide on which course to pursue. This webinar was very eye-opening and fruitful and I really benefitted from it. The takeaways from this experience will definitely help me in the future! Thank you for organising this, Mrs Tham!
Eureka’s university webinar was tremendously helpful for me. I gained a wealth of insights from a wide variety of students from top universities, who shared their expertise and helped me gain a much clearer picture of university life as well as useful admissions tips! They were very patient and answered many of our questions to the best of their abilities. I am very grateful for this opportunity and hope to join subsequent webinars!
Recently, I attended the pre-uni webinar hosted by Eureka Edvantage. The speakers in the webinar were very helpful in sharing their personal experiences, how they decided on and prepared for their course of study and the advantages and disadvantages of such. They came from a wide range of schools and courses which broadened my perspective on the various institutions and subjects they offer. I am very grateful to have had the chance to experience such a webinar in this time of Covid, and this can be credited to the adaptability and willingness of Mrs Tham to go out of her way to organise this event!
As a teenager fraught with anxiety over choosing my university course, Mrs Tham’s webinar provided a wealth of valuable information, and came at just the right time. The key speakers - all from a diversity of courses and reputable institutions, were engaging, knowledgeable, and personable - offering practical and relevant guidance. This webinar has undoubtedly helped to provide some clarity amidst this phase of great uncertainty, and has greatly eased my fears on transitioning to university life. Overall, I would highly recommend this webinar to all young students struck with indecisiveness over their future career prospects, and to all bright minds seeking to enrich their university life!

Indigo Education Centre is an MOE-registered tuition centre founded in 2011, with six locations across Singapore and online lesson options. Its IP English programme supports Lower and Upper IP students, covering Language Arts and foundation skills for General Paper. For families comparing IP Year 1 English tuition centres in Singapore, its school-specific class tracks may be useful, as IP schools can follow different curriculum sequences, texts and assessment requirements. Lessons connect comprehension and essay writing with current affairs, weekly model essays, guided brainstorming and regular assessments. Consultations and essay-marking support may also give children more precise feedback than classroom grades alone. Instead of approaching IP Year 1 English like conventional secondary English, Indigo focuses on deeper interpretation, careful evidence use and structured writing within each child’s school context.
Why Parents Choose Indigo Education Centre?
Parents may consider Indigo Education Centre when their child is adjusting to faster IP pacing but feels less confident about comprehension or essay writing. Its dual-teaching model provides specialist guidance for writing and comprehension, giving each area focused attention rather than combining both within general practice. School-specific tracks may also help when assessment expectations differ between IP schools. Weekly model essays, consultations and marking support provide regular feedback, especially for children who have ideas but struggle to organise arguments, choose evidence or explain interpretations clearly under timed conditions.
Mr Peng is a really cool and interesting teacher who has helped me raise my math grades to a consistent a1 and made the subject one that I enjoy. He teaches us helpful tricks to tackle tricky questions and makes sure that his lessons are engaging and fun. Really thankful to have such a great math teacher who has taught me to love the subject other than just getting good grades! 😀
Mr Peng is a very patient and skilled teacher. His lessons are very interesting and he has shown many ways and tips to solve difficult questions. For myself, even though I started his tuition with a single digit score, he was always more than happy to guide me through questions and ensure that i understood my mistakes. He is also like a buddy to me, therefore his lessons were always very comfortable and enjoyable ! I am super thankful to have him as a tuition teacher and helping me regain my confidence in math !
The lessons were very detailed and it definitely improved my grades for additional math . He taught us well and is very caring too . Mr Peng has been very caring during lessons and he is very passionate when teaching. He has helped me gain more confidence in Mathematics and also made me like math. His classes were engaging and i would recommend people to join his classes!
Mr Peng has never failed to show care and concern for his students throughout the time I've been with him. On top of the comprehensive and extensive resources he provides, he prepares for his lessons well and comes up with interesting ways to help his students understand difficult concepts. His friendly and approachable character allows students to approach him easily, making tuition conducive for learning.
Mr Peng is a passionate and confident teacher. With his strong background, he is able to get his point across very easily. The way he teaches is in depth but yet easy to understand, making learning that much efficient and faster. Outside of class, Mr Peng cares for our well being and ensures we are coping well with our life, even more so than our school teachers. He has been a fantastic role model and an even better teacher. Without his guidance and teachings, it would have been difficult to score in my exams.

Zenith Education Studio offers IP English and Language Arts alongside IP Math and Science within a larger tuition network. Its IP English programme uses weekly curated notes, annotated model essays, thematic question banks, oral and presentation guides and vocabulary boosters. These resources may suit IP Year 1 children adjusting to a curriculum that expects more independent reading, developed arguments and confident communication. The approach combines structured practice with consultations, personalised feedback and online support beyond scheduled lessons. Zenith has served more than 20,000 students since 2019, although its published centre-wide outcomes largely relate to other examination levels. As IP schools differ in content and pacing, parents should confirm the available IP Year 1 timetable and how lessons align with their child’s particular school curriculum.
Why Parents Choose Zenith Education Studio?
Parents may shortlist Zenith Education Studio for its structured English resources and access to support outside normal class time. Annotated essays can show children how stronger responses are built, while thematic questions and vocabulary work may deepen idea development. Oral and presentation guides are also relevant when Language Arts assessment extends beyond written papers. Families should ask about class size at their preferred branch, teacher allocation and school-specific alignment, as these details may determine whether the group format suits a quieter IP Year 1 learner.
If you asked me what it means to be a bubbly, food loving critic that is competent and skilled in teaching Chemistry, there’s only one name that comes to mind. OSN - Ong Shi Neng ☃️
Since the first lesson he has been relentless in ensuring quality education, good eats and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Chemistry in Zenith for the past 1.5 years have truly been like no other. The teachers are caring and helpful, reassuring us that we are prepared, organising 24 hour zooms the night before, just so we can feel a bit more secure the day before the exam. It is no surprise that he is one of Zenith’s most beloved tutors. #Notfreepromo Join Zenith for the most fun experience. Coming back to edit this review Once i bag that A! 🦦🦦🦦🦦
I attended Chenfang's E-Math classes from Sec 3 to 4 and it really was an amazing experience to be learning with her!
In Sec 4, I jumped from a C6 for Prelims to a B3 for O's, something I thought I wouldn't be able to achieve. Chenfang helped me to understand what my weak points were through weekly assessments and so I improved steadily. Her classes are also really fun since she makes sure that we are not just studying but enjoying the process! The worksheets at Zenith also helped a lot as there were many diverse types of questions that helped with gradual and thorough understanding, with extras for practice at home! The snacks were also a real help for staying focused in class 🙂
I joined Nick's class in sec 3 for physics and he has helped me get good grades for physics throughout my upper sec and eventually get a1 for o levels. Without Nick I do not think I would have achieved such a good score. He is a very good teacher and makes lessons feel fun and explains concepts very well, I have not been lost or confused once in his lessons throughout my two years with him. I look forward to his classes every week and he made me fall in love with physics.😍😍 He also helps me with physics questions outside of lesson time when I whatsapp him especially when I was preparing for my exams.👍👍👍
I attended Nicholas Koh’s classes when I realised I was failing Chemistry and Physics in my Sec 3 WA2s. He helped pull my grades up from an F9 to an A2 for my O Levels! I truly appreciate his help so much. He is understanding, yet he also challenges me and strongly believes in my potential. His lessons are unlike those of other tutors who simply spoon-feed information instead, he makes sure new concepts are thoroughly drilled into your head so you truly understand them. Thank you Nick you genuinely changed my life. You’re the best!
I was a J2 student taking H2 physics under duncan!! Duncan is honestly one of the best physics tutors I’ve ever had. He answers my questions incredibly fast and always makes sure I fully understand the concepts before moving on. You can tell he really puts in the effort. tbh it feels like he works around the clock just to help his students. He’s super helpful, patient, and you can clearly see that he genuinely loves what he does. Highly recommend him to anyone who wants to improve in physics!
Because of laychuns lessons, I feel more confident in econs and I have improved in applying concepts on my own. He is patient, encouraging and genuinely wants his students to do better. Lessons are productive and I always end up learning something useful.
Shi neng has made chem very fun and enjoyable for me, this has made chem seem so much easier in school. He explains concepts very clearly and his lessons are very engaging!
Overall, I would recommend them to anyone who wants to improve and understand the subject better.
Shi Neng chemistry class is so good. Like everyone around me keeps saying chemistry is so hard and honestly I did find Chem hard before joining zenith Chem. However, after I went for June trial for energetics I realised how simple Chem is. Especially he helped me so much in organiche Chem by covering all the foundations and the small tiny details! I rlly recommend this class and I have gotten A /B throughout the time I have been with zenith. It’s also very fun cause he has a sense of humour HAHA !
My time at zenith has been really wonderful and really enjoyable. My chemistry tutor , Shi Neng has been really helpful at helping me understand H2 chemistry and making the journey more fun and bearable. Even with simple and obvious questions , Shi Neng has always been patient and really helpful with explaining chemistry concepts! Even with welfare he has always been very generous and thoughtful. TLDR he is a very thoughtful teacher and I wish I would have joined earlier 😭😭 676767

illum.e is an MOE-registered tuition centre offering IP English and Language Arts for IP Year 1-4 across six Singapore campuses. Its IP curriculum uses spiral progression, thematic reading, current-affairs discourse, guided practice, independent tasks, feedback, homework and consultations. This combination may support children entering IP Year 1, where English can demand deeper interpretation, broader content knowledge and greater independence than they previously expected. Signature Thinking Frames provide step-by-step systems for approaching questions, while tutors examine the root causes of repeated mistakes rather than correcting only the final answer. The average teacher-student ratio is one to eight, balancing group discussion with opportunities for personalised guidance. Parents may find this helpful when their child needs structure without losing exposure to other viewpoints and interpretations.
Why Parents Choose illum.e?
Parents may choose illum.e for its explicit IP Year 1-4 English pathway, smaller average class ratio and structured thinking tools. Thematic reading and current-affairs discussion may help children develop substance for writing while learning to evaluate ideas more carefully. Guided tasks followed by independent work can reveal whether a child genuinely understands a technique rather than copying the teacher’s process. Consultations and feedback provide another layer of support when school assessments uncover persistent gaps in comprehension, analysis or expression.
Before joining illum.e, I was scoring badly for GP up until promos in J1. I did not understand how GP worked and what was even required to score well in GP. After joining illum.e in J2, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo's lessons made me understand that GP was actually very much doable. Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would also always make the extra effort to help me mark and provide feedback on areas for improvement promptly. Would definitely recommend anyone considering a GP tuition centre to join illum.e!
I enrolled into Illume in 2024 in Mr Chia and Mr Yeo class at Jurong East campus, and throughout the 1.5 years in illume, I managed to improve my GP significantly through the structured classes and lectures. The lesson materials were useful since it provided easy to remember methods and strategies to tackle the broad subject requirements. Additionally Mr Chia and Mr Yeo were engaging and frequently put in the effort to make our lessons fun and interesting. Furthermore, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would take time to consult with us and check our essay outlines or comprehension questions outside of lesson hours or during exam periods, even if they were very busy. Overall, illume has helped me not only in scoring an A for GP but also equip me with general knowledge about local and global affairs, which are valuable when entering the workforce in the future.
Mr Chia played the biggest role in helping me achieve an A for GP during my A Levels. Before attending his classes, I was completely clueless about how to write good essays, as the help given by my school teachers was too vague and confusing. I am very grateful to Mr Chia, who taught me how to use illum.e’s very own skill sets to dissect question types and keyword types, which are the keys to answering any type of essay question.
I truly appreciate that in every single lesson, Mr Chia made it a point to review every student’s answers and provide personalised feedback to target the weaknesses in our responses and teach us how to improve. I also liked that he engaged with his students in class to ensure that we were following him and to liven up the atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised when I wrote at least three additional essays for Mr Chia to mark and he returned them to me with fully annotated scripts showing where I could improve. Every piece of feedback was immensely useful. (He was not obliged to mark them at all.) This showed his dedication and responsibility towards helping his students.
As for comprehension, I went from barely passing to getting an A during prelims. Similarly, I would credit this improvement to Mr Chia. He was very encouraging, even when the class struggled to paraphrase certain words.
Finally, even though I only joined his classes in April of J2, I was able to see myself doing better in GP at school after applying the feedback Mr Chia gave. This shows how experienced he is in knowing exactly what his students need to do to perform better in the subject.
I 100% recommend juniors who feel uncertain about GP to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My English teacher, Mr. Chia from Illum Education (Jurong East), played a huge role in helping me achieve a B3 in my National Examinations.
When I first joined in mid-May, I was barely passing with around 50 marks. Even close to Prelims in late July, I was still stuck at 55 and extremely worried about my actual exams. After consulting Mr. Chia, the improvement I saw within just three weeks was honestly insane.
He didn’t just teach me content; he fixed my exam strategy. For Paper 1 (especially Situational Writing), I used to write the wrong things and overwrite. He taught me how to write less but include the right points to score higher. For Paper 2, I used to struggle to find answers in the passage, but after his guidance, it became much easier.
What really stood out was his care and dedication. Despite being busy, he still took time to mark my extra work and patiently answer my questions after lessons. He always checked in to make sure I had no doubts.
If you want results, Mr. Chia is the teacher you need. Highly recommended.
Mr Roger was my teacher at Illum.e. I joined midway through Sec 4, and many people questioned why I decided to start tuition so close to my O Levels. Previously, I believed I could self-study and still achieve a good grade for English. However, after receiving my WA1 and WA2 results, I realised my grades were declining from a C6 to a D7. That was when I told my mum that I needed tuition.
During my time at Illum.e, I learnt a lot from Mr Roger. He always took the time to explain every detail clearly, especially words or concepts that students were unsure of. Beyond that, Illum.e taught us how to approach questions based on what markers are actually looking for. This helped me understand how to answer effectively without overthinking or overwriting during exams.
As a result, I was able to manage my time much better in my actual O Levels. I am truly grateful to Illum.e and for my own hard work, which helped me achieve a B3 for my English O Levels.
My child’s English grade improved significantly from E8 to an A, and we are extremely grateful to illum.e.
After just one visit, we decided to entrust our child to the centre, and it proved to be the right decision. The staff at the Jurong East branch were warm, supportive, and professional, and Mr. Roger’s guidance made a tremendous difference. June felt comfortable and well-supported throughout her learning journey.
The materials provided were relevant and effective, and the team was always helpful and flexible in arranging make-up classes or alternative schedules when needed.
Thank you, illum.e, and especially Mr. Roger, for your dedication and commitment to our child’s O-Level success. We truly appreciate all your hard work.
I was a student of illume in 2025 ( I joined halfway throught the year) for the subject GP. I was taught by MrLiew and his lessons were wonderful. His lessons are always well prepared and MrLiew always make sure all his explanations are well elaborated in a way that is clear and easy to understand for everyone. MrLiew is also very patient and takes time to explain the mistakes that I and other students make. Before illume, I was very weak in GP and did not understand how to properly structure my essays, AQ and the SAQ formats, but thanks to MrLiew, I have a much much netter understanding especially for SAQs which really helped me improve in GP and i jumped 3 grades from mid years to prelims. MrLiew has greatly helped me in this short span of a few months!

How to Choose the Best IP Year 1 English Tuition for Your Child?
The best IP Year 1 English tuition depends on how your child reads, writes, discusses ideas and responds to feedback. A polished programme may still be unsuitable if its sequence does not match the child’s school or its class format discourages questions. Consider these practical points before committing to a term.
Match lessons to current school demands, checking whether comprehension, writing, Language Arts, oral work and assigned texts receive relevant and timely attention.
Identify your child’s specific English gaps, since weak analysis, limited vocabulary and poor argument structure may require quite different forms of support.
Examine teaching and feedback practices carefully, looking for marked work, clear correction, guided application and opportunities to revise responses that missed the mark.
Choose a workable class environment, balancing individual attention, peer discussion and group size against your child’s confidence and willingness to speak up.
Review tutor experience and programme evidence, using parent reviews as helpful context while avoiding assumptions that previous results guarantee the same outcome.
Balance access, timetable and total cost, including travel time, online flexibility, registration charges and whether the weekly routine remains manageable for your family.
A trial lesson or detailed curriculum discussion may tell you more than promotional claims alone. Ask how the tutor manages school-specific differences and request examples of feedback where possible. The right IP English tuition centre should give your child clearer ways to read, reason and communicate, while leaving enough time and energy for school, CCA commitments and rest.
