Searching for the Top 10 O Level Social Studies Tuition Centres in Singapore can feel surprisingly difficult when your teen understands the chapters but still loses marks in source-based and structured-response questions. Strong Social Studies tuition should address interpretation, contextual knowledge, evidence use, evaluation, time management and precise answering, rather than rely mainly on memorised templates. This guide compares specialist Humanities tutors, small-group classes, broader tuition centres and flexible home tuition arrangements for upper secondary learners. It also looks at fees, locations, class formats, teacher support and the practical value of each teaching approach. The aim is to help parents choose support that matches their teen’s actual difficulties, whether these involve weak content foundations, uncertain inference skills, incomplete explanations or difficulty finishing an O Level paper confidently.
Key Takeaways
Effective O Level Social Studies tuition should strengthen source analysis, structured responses, contextual understanding and time management, rather than encourage rigid memorisation.
Small classes suit teens needing frequent feedback, while one-to-one tuition may better address school-specific gaps and persistent answering mistakes.
Compare tutor experience, marked practice, lesson accessibility and fees alongside testimonials, because impressive results alone do not guarantee a suitable learning fit.
MindFlex – Your Best Platform for O Level Social Studies Home Tuition
Overview of Business
MindFlex Tuition Agency connects Singapore families with private tutors who can provide individual O Level Social Studies tuition at home or online. Instead of following one fixed classroom programme, lessons may be shaped around a teen’s syllabus coverage, school assignments, examination timeline and recurring weaknesses. A suitable tutor can revisit citizenship and governance content while also working through source-based case studies and structured-response questions at an appropriate pace. Families may request different tutor profiles according to experience, availability, location and budget, including current or former MOE teachers. With more than 50,000 active tutors across its network, MindFlex may suit parents seeking subject-specific guidance without placing their teen in another large class. Its free matching service also lets families consider recommended profiles before committing to an arrangement.
Why Parents Choose MindFlex?
Parents may choose MindFlex when their teen needs targeted correction rather than another standard sequence of Social Studies lectures. One-to-one lessons can focus on why an inference lacks support, where contextual knowledge is thin, or how rushed planning weakens an SRQ response. Home and online options may also reduce travel pressure around school, CCA and revision commitments. Coordinators are available seven days a week, while the TUTOR EXPRESS™ service may provide suitable profiles within six hours when support is needed quickly.

Guided answer planning develops clearer claims, evidence and explanations, rather than encouraging teens to reproduce unsuitable memorised paragraphs.
Timed source-based and structured-response practice may reveal pacing problems early, leaving sufficient opportunity to adjust examination strategies.
Personalised feedback identifies recurring reasoning and phrasing errors, giving teens specific corrections they can apply to later answers.

1. Humanities Club
Overview of Business
Humanities Club is a Bukit Timah tuition centre specialising in Social Studies, Geography and History for learners preparing for N Level and O Level examinations. Founder Joshua personally teaches and coaches Social Studies, paying particular attention to structured-response questions and the reasoning behind a complete answer. Lessons cover questions across the upper secondary syllabus, supported by model responses, answer planning and the P.E.E.L. paragraph structure. The teaching team includes NUS Arts and Social Science graduates with NIE postgraduate and master’s qualifications, alongside former MOE teachers with substantial classroom experience. Onsite, online and hybrid arrangements may suit families who value specialist Humanities instruction but need flexibility around school and CCA schedules. This subject-focused model could benefit teens who can recall their chapter notes but find it harder to apply that knowledge accurately in examination answers.
Why Parents Choose Humanities Club?
Parents may consider Humanities Club when their teen needs a tutor who treats Social Studies as a distinct discipline rather than an add-on within broad tuition. Step-by-step SRQ guidance may help learners who have relevant knowledge but struggle to select, elaborate and link examples under timed conditions. The focus on weaknesses, examination techniques and individual comments also gives teens clearer direction than repeatedly completing papers without understanding their mistakes. Testimonials describe strong O Level Humanities outcomes and marked improvement, although each family should still assess the current teaching fit personally.
I was failing both elect hist and pure geog and was constantly an e8/d7 student. However, in the last 3 months before o levels, I joined Humanities Club and eventually went from d7 in prelims to b3 for both elect Hist and pure geog. Mr Joshua, Ms Ellie and Mr Andy helped me alot and provided me with a lot of notes and helpful techniques to improve the way i answered the questions.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My son improved from B3 (prelims) to A1 in O-Level Humanities after just 11 lessons at Humanity Club. Extremely grateful for the timely support and effective guidance. Highly recommended! 🥰
Recently my son have received his O level results, he is very grateful that his Hum/Geo got B3 which is over his expectation. He has been struggling for this subject since in his Sec 4NA and going to 5NA.
His result for this subject is always at the range of C5 to C6. However, after sending my son to Humanities Club to provide more help, he actually improve a lot. He mentioned the ways the tutor, Mr Joshua teaches are very interesting and able to engage him to understand the topics easier. He really shows his professionlism towards his teaching and wanting his students to improve and achieve better grade.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the guidances and patiences. I strongly recommand parents to sent their child to Humanities Club for help before it is too late.
I am extremely grateful to Joshua and Ms Ellie for their outstanding support in helping me improve in Geography and Social Studies. Their lessons were well-structured, clear, and tailored to my learning needs. They explained complex concepts in a way that was easy to understand and always took the time to ensure I fully grasped the content.
What stood out most was their patience, encouragement, and consistent guidance in exam techniques, answering strategies, and time management. Because of their dedication and commitment, my confidence improved significantly and I was able to achieve an A1 for both subjects.
I highly recommend them to any student who wants to strengthen their understanding and perform well academically. Thank you, Joshua and Ms Ellie, for making such a positive difference in my learning journey.
Had a wonderful time in Humanities Club. The teachers were very patient and teaches really well. Managed to go from constant F9 to B3 in o levels. Really thankful for this tuition centre

Zenith Education Studio offers upper secondary Humanities tuition covering Social Studies in Combined Humanities, within a larger Singapore tuition network. Established in 2019, it has served more than 20,000 learners and reports an 80% O Level distinction rate across its programmes. Social Studies support sits within a concept-first, Learn-Understand-Apply approach that combines curated notes, model answers, question practice and examination preparation. Lessons take place in group classes, while consultations and online academic help can provide further clarification outside scheduled teaching. The teaching team includes MOE award recipients, valedictorians and Dean’s List graduates, giving parents several academic credentials to consider alongside actual lesson fit. Zenith may appeal to teens who enjoy discussion-based learning and need structured materials, but who are also comfortable speaking up and participating in a group environment.
Why Parents Choose Zenith Education Studio?
Parents often shortlist Zenith Education Studio because its multiple branches can reduce travel time during a demanding upper secondary year. Curated notes and consultations may support teens who understand classroom discussions but need help turning ideas into concise, examination-ready Social Studies responses. Online assistance can also be useful when questions arise between lessons, instead of leaving confusion unresolved until the following week. Families should ask about the actual Humanities class size and tutor allocation, especially if their teen tends to stay quiet in groups.
If you asked me what it means to be a bubbly, food loving critic that is competent and skilled in teaching Chemistry, there’s only one name that comes to mind. OSN - Ong Shi Neng ☃️
Since the first lesson he has been relentless in ensuring quality education, good eats and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Chemistry in Zenith for the past 1.5 years have truly been like no other. The teachers are caring and helpful, reassuring us that we are prepared, organising 24 hour zooms the night before, just so we can feel a bit more secure the day before the exam. It is no surprise that he is one of Zenith’s most beloved tutors. #Notfreepromo Join Zenith for the most fun experience. Coming back to edit this review Once i bag that A! 🦦🦦🦦🦦
I attended Chenfang's E-Math classes from Sec 3 to 4 and it really was an amazing experience to be learning with her!
In Sec 4, I jumped from a C6 for Prelims to a B3 for O's, something I thought I wouldn't be able to achieve. Chenfang helped me to understand what my weak points were through weekly assessments and so I improved steadily. Her classes are also really fun since she makes sure that we are not just studying but enjoying the process! The worksheets at Zenith also helped a lot as there were many diverse types of questions that helped with gradual and thorough understanding, with extras for practice at home! The snacks were also a real help for staying focused in class 🙂
I joined Nick's class in sec 3 for physics and he has helped me get good grades for physics throughout my upper sec and eventually get a1 for o levels. Without Nick I do not think I would have achieved such a good score. He is a very good teacher and makes lessons feel fun and explains concepts very well, I have not been lost or confused once in his lessons throughout my two years with him. I look forward to his classes every week and he made me fall in love with physics.😍😍 He also helps me with physics questions outside of lesson time when I whatsapp him especially when I was preparing for my exams.👍👍👍
I attended Nicholas Koh’s classes when I realised I was failing Chemistry and Physics in my Sec 3 WA2s. He helped pull my grades up from an F9 to an A2 for my O Levels! I truly appreciate his help so much. He is understanding, yet he also challenges me and strongly believes in my potential. His lessons are unlike those of other tutors who simply spoon-feed information instead, he makes sure new concepts are thoroughly drilled into your head so you truly understand them. Thank you Nick you genuinely changed my life. You’re the best!
I was a J2 student taking H2 physics under duncan!! Duncan is honestly one of the best physics tutors I’ve ever had. He answers my questions incredibly fast and always makes sure I fully understand the concepts before moving on. You can tell he really puts in the effort. tbh it feels like he works around the clock just to help his students. He’s super helpful, patient, and you can clearly see that he genuinely loves what he does. Highly recommend him to anyone who wants to improve in physics!
Because of laychuns lessons, I feel more confident in econs and I have improved in applying concepts on my own. He is patient, encouraging and genuinely wants his students to do better. Lessons are productive and I always end up learning something useful.
Shi neng has made chem very fun and enjoyable for me, this has made chem seem so much easier in school. He explains concepts very clearly and his lessons are very engaging!
Overall, I would recommend them to anyone who wants to improve and understand the subject better.
Shi Neng chemistry class is so good. Like everyone around me keeps saying chemistry is so hard and honestly I did find Chem hard before joining zenith Chem. However, after I went for June trial for energetics I realised how simple Chem is. Especially he helped me so much in organiche Chem by covering all the foundations and the small tiny details! I rlly recommend this class and I have gotten A /B throughout the time I have been with zenith. It’s also very fun cause he has a sense of humour HAHA !
My time at zenith has been really wonderful and really enjoyable. My chemistry tutor , Shi Neng has been really helpful at helping me understand H2 chemistry and making the journey more fun and bearable. Even with simple and obvious questions , Shi Neng has always been patient and really helpful with explaining chemistry concepts! Even with welfare he has always been very generous and thoughtful. TLDR he is a very thoughtful teacher and I wish I would have joined earlier 😭😭 676767

Critical-thinking discussions encourage teens to test interpretations aloud, which may expose weak assumptions before independent timed writing.
Consultations and online help provide extra clarification, supporting learners whose questions cannot be fully addressed during group lessons.

SmartLab Education Centre has operated since 1999 and offers upper secondary Social Studies through Humanities combinations for O Level and N Level learners. Relevant options include History with Social Studies, alongside Social Studies paired with elective Geography, History or Literature in its examination pathways. Its broader teaching system is called Exploration, Strengthening and Consolidation, combining initial understanding, targeted practice and reinforcement through examination-style work. Small classes, structured notes and constructive feedback may help teens who need their mistakes examined rather than simply receiving another answer key. SmartLab also reports serving more than 20,000 learners across major examination levels, giving parents a long operating history to weigh when comparing tuition options. For Social Studies, families should confirm whether their teen’s subject combination runs at the preferred branch and whether the class follows the correct examination pathway.
Why Parents Choose Smartlab Education Centre?
Parents may choose SmartLab Education Centre for its long history, trained teachers and emphasis on small-class academic support. Its Exploration, Strengthening and Consolidation sequence can suit teens who need to rebuild content before attempting increasingly demanding source and response questions. Personal attention matters when a learner repeatedly misreads provenance or writes an unsupported assertion despite completing plenty of practice. Families considering its examination preparation pathway should compare lesson frequency and the total commitment carefully, rather than selecting it solely for its broad subject coverage.
The lessons are well structured and teachers are open to consultations! After doing some research, smartlab is the most cost efficient in terms of price and quality, with lab provided and up to date teaching. If you are looking for structure and support even with 0 experience, this is the best place to consider imo.Smartlab also has a diverse student pool so study environment wise,it would require more adaptability and flexibility! Personally,I had to take on a new Alevel subject as a private candidate but I was able to manage thanks to Smartlab. Thank you to all the teachers who remained encouraging throughout this journey!
My daughter joined smartlab to prepare for O-levels, she took Science (Chemistry, Biology) and English at the centre. It was months of their guidance, termly assessments and feedbacks from teachers in preparation for the Os. She was able to get A2 in Science. The reward she gets from Smartlab every time she gets an A for the Science term assessment added to her motivation. 😁 She said that she was relying on the notes given to her by her teacher towards the exams and she was so thankful of it that she decided to keep all of it if she may need it in the future. She is so thankful to her teachers in Science, I am so thankful to them as well for keeping her more interested in the subject that she loves and helping her excel on it. As for English she may have not got better result that she wanted still thankful she was able to get passing grade for it.
This is from a parent’s perspective. It was not an easy decision to have my daughter retake her o levels because of the stigma of wasting another year. I knew and so did my daughter from before her prelims that aiming for the result she wanted to get into a school of her choice would be quite impossible. I already started thinking of alternatives and by God’s grace I found out about SmartLab Private School and had a long chat with Tony. After that the path was clear and even when the results were not out, my daughter was registered at the school. 1 year later, the results speak for itself. No tuition this time! Chloe won 2 awards for good performance as well! SmartLab is more than a school, it is a place for those who want direct their own direction in life. Thank you SmartLab for being the light in our lives when we most needed it.
I had a blast the past year studying at smartlab! Every teacher was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and patient. Any part of the syllabuses that I did not understand would be explained to me with patience and repeatedly if necessary without them showing any sign of frustration! Texting the teachers was always recommended if clarification on topics was needed. The classrooms were all kept clean and the teachers always came prepared and well equipped for upcoming lessons. They provided us with ample notes and practice papers to ensure no gap in knowledge whatsoever. Thank you to Mr Tay Tien Kiat, Mr Tan Wei Ee, Mr Collin Lim and Principal of the SmartLab Mr Tony Tan for their guidance and support throughout the year! Highly recommended for those considering taking A levels for the first time and for retakers as well!😊
I enrolled at Smartlab last year to prepare for my O Levels as a private candidate at the age of 24. Back when I was 17, I took my N Levels and completely flunked them. I had no interest in studying at all. My grades were English (4), History (Absent) and the rest ungraded (Math, Science, POA). Fast forward to last year, after studying with Smartlab, my O Level results were English (A2), Humanities (Social Studies + History) (B4), Business Studies (B3) and POA (B3). Although I didn’t manage to pass Math (D7), I think I did pretty well considering I hadn’t studied for almost 8 years. Smartlab’s teachers and teaching strategies were very effective, they managed to cover about four years’ worth of content in less than a year. Their resources and structured approach really helped me regain my confidence in studying. Special thanks to Mr. Collin, who taught me English, Social Studies and History. He’s extremely encouraging, patient and always willing to help. I often texted him late at night with questions and he would always reply quickly. Overall, Smartlab’s teaching methods, materials and supportive teachers made a huge difference in my learning journey. I’m very thankful for their guidance and would highly recommend Smartlab to anyone preparing for their O Levels.
Smartlab has truly helped me achieve my dreams! When I joined, I was determined to do well for my O-Levels, and thanks to the supportive teachers and their effective teaching methods, I was able to reach my goals. The environment was always encouraging, and the teachers genuinely cared about helping every student succeed.
Because of the foundation I built at Smartlab, I’m now pursuing my Diploma in Criminology at a private academy — something I’ve always been passionate about. I’m really grateful for the guidance, motivation, and belief that Smartlab gave me throughout my journey.
Thank you, Smartlab, for being such an important part of my success and for always reminding your students to believe in themselves! 🙏🎓✨
Thank you so much, SmartLab, for giving me a second chance to redeem myself for my O-Levels and allowing me to pass all my subjects with flying colours. My chemistry especially, have improved tremendously, from E8 to A2!! After many negative experiences in my former school, SmartLab completely changed my perspective on studying and learning.
The teachers here are incredibly kind, patient, and dedicated — they take the time to explain every concept clearly until you truly understand it. They never make you feel judged or left behind, and their encouragement really motivated me to keep going. You can also approach the teachers anytime after class if you still have any doubts. They also provide really good notes and you even get to do hands-on practice for your Science practical at their lab!
The learning environment is also very conducive — quiet, comfortable, and filled with people who genuinely want to learn and improve themselves. I always felt supported not only academically but also emotionally, which made a huge difference in my confidence and attitude toward my studies.
I’m truly grateful for everything SmartLab has done for me. It’s not just a tuition centre — it’s a place that helped me rebuild my self-belief and rediscover the joy of learning. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to do well and feel supported along the way!

O Level Preparation
Teaching Methodology
Exploration introduces difficult content through guided activity, helping teens establish meaning before moving into examination-focused Social Studies practice.
Strengthening uses structured notes and targeted questions, reinforcing weak concepts that might otherwise undermine source interpretation and explanation.
Consolidation revisits learning through past-paper tasks, allowing learners to practise selecting evidence and organising responses under realistic demands.
Small classes give teachers more opportunities to inspect reasoning, which may uncover recurring mistakes hidden by final marks alone.
Constructive feedback directs attention towards specific weaknesses, helping teens revise purposefully instead of repeating entire chapters without clear priorities.
Location and Availability
Tuition branches operate in Bishan, Kovan or Hougang, Marine Parade and Woodlands. Examination preparation classes are held in Bishan and Marine Parade.
Price Range
The 2026 part-time O Level preparation course starts from $2,388 for one subject in Bishan, including its application, subject and assessment-material fees.
Bespoke Learning Centre provides Combined Humanities tuition for upper secondary learners preparing for O Level or N Level examinations. Its supported combinations pair Social Studies with History or Geography, keeping the programme relevant to how many Singapore teens take Humanities. Lessons follow an MOE-aligned in-house curriculum and use small groups of up to eight learners, topical worksheets, past-year papers and timed practice. Personalised learning plans and targeted feedback may help identify whether weak performance comes from content gaps, poor source interpretation or incomplete explanation. Many tutors are former MOE teachers, while enrolled learners can also use round-the-clock WhatsApp homework support when questions arise between classes. With several neighbourhood branches, Bespoke may suit families seeking structured Social Studies preparation without adding a long weekly commute to central Singapore.
Why Parents Choose Bespoke Learning Centre?
Parents may consider Bespoke Learning Centre if their teen needs closer attention than a large lecture can reasonably provide. A class cap of eight creates more room for tutors to inspect SBQ and SRQ responses, while personalised plans may prevent stronger topics from consuming time needed elsewhere. Answer templates and model essays can offer a useful starting structure, especially when paired with targeted marking rather than copied mechanically. WhatsApp homework support may also reassure families when school deadlines and tuition schedules do not align neatly.
Moved from Commit Learning to Bespoke. Compared to Commit, it different in below: 1. Teacher help practise the spelling and Ting Xie. 2. Open until 8pm (Commit 6:30pm), have air-conditioning. 3. Can fetch any time. (Commit if you late a minute have to wait hours for next slot to fetch kids, strictly no compromise) 4. Teacher more patient, talk loud to student but not shouting. (Compared to Commit teachers keep shouting at student) 5. My child is happier there.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Do NOT register your child at Bespoke Khatib. The level of negligence here is appalling. The teachers failed to pick up my daughter twice in two weeks. This isn't just a "mistake"—it is a recurring safety failure that shows they learn nothing from their errors. There was an incident happened on 30th Jan, Friday where they failed to pick up my daughter and her friend from the bus stop simply because they assumed there was no school, without even bothering to verify with the parents.
Similarly, another incident happened at 6th Feb, Friday, where they failed to pick up my daughter when she is alone.
Worse still, the management is a total mess. The Cluster Head, Bernard, doesn’t even know his new teachers' names, which points to a massive internal organisational issue. There is clearly zero respect for leadership and no communication.
To top it off, on the day of the incident, the teacher Qilah at the centre kept rejecting my calls instead of facing the situation. Teacher Qilah even said that she would take a photo of my child when my child was not picked up. At least, they should show some effort to find the kids that were not picked up. If you value your child’s safety, stay far away from this place as the teachers will not account who is missing.
In addition, the upper management fail to give an apology to the parents and only rely on Bernard, the cluster head to communicate. This showed a lack of respect to the affected parents regarding their mistakes in oversight for failing to correct the mistakes twice. I should not have believe they will change after the first incident. Please learn from my mistake.
Bespoke Learning Centre has been wonderful for our kid. Ms Natasha and all teachers are caring and friendly. My child feels happy and safe there. The teachers help with schoolwork which takes a huge load off for us parents. The students are also taught about the importance of chores. My child enjoys the food here. We are glad we found this student care centre.
I'm truly grateful for the care and attention Bespoke provides to my child, prioritizing his well-being and safety. I wholeheartedly recommend this centre, especially Teacher Natasha and Teacher Killa, for the exceptional care they give to our son.
I’m very happy with this student care centre. The teachers and staff are caring, patient, and genuinely attentive to the children’s needs. They not only provide a safe and comfortable environment but also help with homework, encourage good habits, and organise fun, engaging activities. My child has grown more confident, independent, and always looks forward to going. Highly recommended to any parent looking for quality care and guidance for their child.
At Bespoke, the teachers are both professional and knowledgeable, creating a supportive and engaging environment for learning. The staff are approachable and make the center a welcoming place for students. My child enjoys attending Bespoke for after-school care, and I appreciate the wide range of activities available, especially during school holidays. They also assist with homework and provide additional assessments, which has been incredibly helpful. Overall, Bespoke offers a fantastic balance of education and recreation, and I’m very pleased with the care and support my child receives.
Don’t recommend for this learning Center at wisteria mall. The teacher and staff and so call manager can’t give a answer 1st - teacher keep come late and make us wait 2nd - the admin staff change the teacher for the day without informing the student parent 3rd - for primary 1 math , they teach the kids by using calculator and is not the first time. 4th - the manager keep reject me to say to the higher authority.
Think twice if you gonna send your kids to here.

O Level Preparation
Teaching Methodology
MOE-aligned lessons keep topic coverage relevant, helping teens connect tuition practice with current school and examination requirements.
Small groups of eight allow more targeted feedback, especially when quiet learners hesitate to expose uncertainty in larger classes.
SBQ and SRQ instruction breaks down question demands, supporting clearer selection of evidence, explanation and contextual knowledge.
P.E.E.L. structures and answer templates guide early writing, while feedback helps prevent dependence on inflexible memorised responses.
Past papers and timed practices develop examination pacing, revealing whether weak results reflect knowledge, technique or unfinished answers.
Location and Availability
Branches are available in Yishun, Punggol, Tampines and Sembawang, offering neighbourhood options for families who want to limit travel after school.
Price Range
Monthly secondary fees range from $250 for O Level Year 1 to $280 for O Level Years 4-5, based on four sessions and pro-rated for five-session months.
Inspire Education Centre has taught selected secondary and pre-university subjects since 2007, including O Level Combined Humanities covering Social Studies and History. The relevant programme combines critical-thinking instruction, essay techniques, selected practice materials and individual homework marking rather than relying only on mass revision lectures. Mr Ho teaches Social Studies and History using a Skills Analysis Template, supported by personalised improvement advice on completed work. Inspire reports helping more than 1,200 learners improve by two to three grade bands across its programmes, while a Combined Humanities outcome records progress from C6 to A2. Those figures offer useful context but cannot predict an individual teen’s progress, which depends on attendance, practice and responsiveness to feedback. The programme may particularly suit learners whose answers contain content but lack organised analysis, relevant evidence or sufficiently developed explanation.
Why Parents Choose Inspire Education Centre?
Parents may shortlist Inspire Education Centre when detailed marking matters more than receiving another thick stack of worksheets. Individual feedback can reveal why a Social Studies response remains at assertion level, or why evidence has been copied without explaining its significance. Critical discussion may also help teens evaluate competing perspectives instead of searching mechanically for matching words. With locations in Orchard and Marine Parade, families can choose between central and eastern options, while online classes provide further scheduling flexibility.
Teachers were knowledgeable and dedicated about the stuff they teach and were more than glad for any consultations outside teaching hours which were very helpful. Mr lim (science & math teacher) is probably one of the best teacher i have come across.
Learners’ Lodge operates O Level Master, a tuition service focused on upper secondary examination preparation, including Social Studies for both O Level Years 3 and 4. Its programme specifically addresses the Social Studies component of Combined Humanities, rather than treating the subject as a general current-affairs discussion class. O Level Year 3 lessons introduce upper secondary content and reinforce foundations, while O Level Year 4 teaching places greater weight on revision, timed work and examination strategy. Group classes have between two and sixteen learners, giving parents a clear class-size range to compare with smaller boutique options. Peer discussions, debates, concise notes and step-by-step examples support both source-based case studies and structured-response questions. Missed lessons may be replaced in another class with the same tutor when space permits, or supported through a Zoom recording, which may reduce disruption during busy school periods.
Why Parents Choose Learners’ Lodge?
Parents may choose Learners’ Lodge because its Social Studies programme is specifically designed for the O Level Combined Humanities paper. Debates and peer evaluation can benefit teens who understand issues more clearly after testing interpretations with others, rather than studying notes silently. Timed practices and error analysis also address a familiar frustration, knowing the content at home but failing to complete sufficiently developed answers during examinations. The make-up and recording arrangements may help learners maintain continuity when school activities or illness interrupt their regular class.
Helloo Mr Yeo thank you for teaching me for the past one and a half years. I really appreciate all the hard work you have put into your teaching!! Your summary notes, the tips that you give, all shows the dedication that you put into your work. 😆 But beyond that, I really really enjoy the enthusiasm in the lessons that you give us. The tiny stories that you tell, about your life, and other little things. The jokes that you make 😂, really help to make the lesson that much more enjoyable and less stressful. So thank you for being such a caring and hardworking teacher!! 🙏🏻😝
Considering the fact that I never studied economics in JC, had zero prior knowledge of the subject, and only joined Learners’ Lodge with 6 months left to the exam, I think I can confidently say that Mr Phay is indeed a very wonderful teacher. I picked up the subject quickly under his mentorship, and I enjoyed each and every single one of his lessons as they were nothing short of fun and interesting.
Mr Gilbert Lee is a dedicated and passionate teacher who manages to get the best out of his students. His extensive knowledge of the A level Econs syllabus over many years of teaching has greatly helped to improve my grades, as well as inculcate a genuine appreciation for the subject! Strong class materials and friendly non-teaching staff at the centre makes attending class something to look forward to each week! Thanks LL!
Hi Mr Phay, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for restoring hope and confidence in my econs. For the short period of time I’ve been in your class for, i benefitted greatly, with your humour and your passion making every class one i look forward to. It has been such a joy attending your lessons, and im sure we are all truly grateful for that. have a great one!
Hi Mr Yeo, I would really like to take this opportunity to thank you for being such a great teacher. Ever since i joined you last year, physics had stopped stopped being a subject a dreaded, and it had become one that one that i truly enjoy doing. Your thoroughness, your effort, and your passion is definitely felt and appreciated by all of us. Your piece of advice, “don’t be mediocre” is one i hold close, which is what inspires me to constantly better myself. Have a great one! melvin
Thank you Mr Gilbert Lee for supporting me in my academic journey for H2 Econs and allowing me to eventually do well for the ‘A’ Levels! I still remember in J1 when I was unable to understand anything during the school lectures and that was why I decided to come to tuition. The notes and explanations by Mr Lee really helped me to understand what was required for the syllabus and how to improve my essays. Thank you also for the constant encouragement also that motivated me to continue to work hard for Economics even though I was not scoring too well in school. Most importantly, attending Mr Lee’s lessons was inspiring and eye-opening as he applied Economics to real life stories and would often share his opinions with us which was what I enjoyed most about the lessons and made me look forward to attending them. Thank you Mr Lee for the past 2 years!

LitHumanities Tuition offers O Level Social Studies support through Mdm Yu, an NIE-trained tutor with a master’s degree in Literary Studies from NUS. With more than fifteen years of teaching and tutoring experience, she teaches across closely related English and Humanities subjects while providing focused Social Studies guidance. The approach combines supplemented notes, scaffolding, guided practice, answer templates and timed exercises for inference skills. This may suit teens who find that school explanations move too quickly, leaving them unsure how an inference grows from evidence and contextual reasoning. Customised combination sessions can allocate more attention to the subject requiring clarification, practice or immediate test preparation. Parents should consider whether this flexible multi-subject arrangement matches their teen’s needs, or whether a single-subject session would provide more sustained depth in Social Studies.
Why Parents Choose LitHumanities Tuition?
Parents may consider LitHumanities Tuition when their teen needs an experienced Humanities specialist who can connect Social Studies skills with related History, Geography or English demands. Scaffolding and templates may reduce anxiety for learners who freeze when faced with an unfamiliar source, while guided practice helps them move beyond the initial structure. Time-management monitoring is especially relevant for teens whose stronger answers arrive too late to complete the paper. The two accessible locations also give families central and eastern options for face-to-face tuition.
Subjects Offered
Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Literature, Social Studies (Sec 1-4)
Secondary English (Sec 1-4)
Secondary Humanities (Sec 2-2)
O Level Preparation
Teaching Methodology
Scaffolded instruction divides complex Social Studies tasks into manageable decisions, helping teens understand each stage of analysis.
Guided practice lets learners attempt inferences with support, reducing reliance gradually as their reasoning becomes more secure.
Answer templates provide an initial structure for evidence and explanation, while supplementation encourages responses suited to each source.
Explained notes connect content with question application, helping teens avoid revising facts without knowing when they matter.
Timed practice and monitoring expose pacing habits, allowing learners to adjust planning before school prelims and national examinations.
Location and Availability
Tuition is available near Orchard MRT and at Tampines locations close to rail connections. Weekday single-subject and weekend combination arrangements are offered.

Families should contact LitHumanities Tuition directly to confirm the current fees for single-subject and customised combination sessions.
Brain Matter is a Bishan tuition centre offering focused Social Studies classes for O Level Year 3 and O Level Years 4-5 learners. Classes are limited to five teens, creating one of the smaller stated group formats among the Social Studies tuition centres in this comparison. Its programme combines pre-teaching, wider contextual discussion and teaching linked to current developments, alongside examination skills, time management and school-paper practice. Social Studies tutors are described as having more than twenty years of experience, with one identified as a pioneer MOE-trained teacher in the subject. Prompt feedback to parents may also help families understand whether difficulties involve content, technique, effort or inconsistent completion of work. One-to-one tutoring is available on request, offering an alternative for a teen who needs intensive correction or feels uncomfortable sharing uncertainty even within a small class.
Why Parents Choose Brain Matter?
Parents may shortlist Brain Matter because five-learner classes allow considerably more observation than a large lecture format. That closeness may matter when a teen’s final answer looks plausible but the reasoning between evidence and inference remains weak. Current developments and teaching beyond basic syllabus context can make issues less abstract, helping learners evaluate sources rather than hunt for keywords. Regular parent feedback may also reduce uncertainty at home, especially when school marks fluctuate and families are unsure whether more drilling is actually helping.
Mr Kelvin is very kind, and very patient. He explains things clearly and never gets frustrated, always helping me understand how to do the difficult math questions. His support makes learning feel encouraging and motivates me to do my best. 👍👍👍👍👍
Julie is always helpful to arrange the logistics. We are very thankful to her support and referral for good tutors. Mr Kelvin gave quick solutions to anchor my son’s learning and he is very caring to my son. Math from Fail to now he is like top 3 in class. Happy to see my son’s growing confidence and interest in Math! We have just started him with Mr Ronnie on science and found Mr Ronnie was able to grow his interests! We are very happy with our experience! 🙂
My son has just received his O level results. He achieved A2 in Emath and B3 in Amath. We are extremely happy with his results.
He only began Amath lessons with Mr Bernard in June 2025, 4 months before the O level. Prior to that, his results had been at D7 from Sec 3 to WA1 in Sec 4. For Emath, he started lessons in late Sec 2,before that, he was also consistently scoring in the D7–E8 range.
We are very grateful to Mr Bernard for his dedication, guidance, and unwavering support.
My son joined Brain Matter begining of the year for Ms. Sophia's English class. He has been very happy with the classes and I have seen him improve a lot as well. The class size is ideal and what I like the most about the classes is it's very student led in the sense that they ask the students what component of English to prioritise if their weighted assessments are around the corner. Teacher Sophia takes a personal interest in the students improvements, is approachable and gives personalised feedback as well. My son has improved a lot in his essay writing too. This has worked well for my son and we are continuing under the same teacher for next year as well. Keep up the good work Brain Matter team ! Would not hesitate recommending them! Big shout out to Ms. Sophia for being an amazing teacher ! Thank you!
My girl started to attend Brain Matter in Term 1 after attending Secondary School as she’s not able to understand the concepts taught in school. Average scores at PSLE (AL4), as she didn’t have tuition in Primary school. Pleased to see her results turnaround after attending Brain Matter Maths tuition for half a year, scoring an A1 at her end of year exams. She enjoys her lessons and Maths subject now.

Ancourage Academy is an MOE-registered learning centre established in 2024, offering small-group academic classes at Bishan and Woodlands. Its secondary tuition follows Full Subject-Based Banding across G1, G2 and G3, with selected Humanities support for families comparing O Level Social Studies tuition centres in Singapore. Classes typically have three to six students, although most groups at its branches have three to four students in practice. Founder and Academic Director Min Hui brings more than 11 years of teaching experience. Lessons are conducted in person or live online through Microsoft Teams, giving busy teens another option when CCA commitments or travel time make attending regularly more difficult. Academic students may also receive WhatsApp homework support, termly progress reports, exam guidance and flexible replacement lessons.
Why Parents Choose Ancourage Academy?
Parents may consider Ancourage Academy when their teen needs closer guidance with Social Studies reasoning rather than another large, lecture-style class. Small groups may give quieter teens more chances to explain inferences, examine supporting evidence and receive feedback on incomplete responses. The structured lesson flow can also support students who remember content but struggle to apply contextual knowledge under timed conditions. Flexible replacement lessons and live online classes may suit families juggling CCA schedules, while progress reports offer parents a clearer picture of recurring gaps instead of relying only on school examination marks.
We’ve had a wonderful experience with this tuition centre. The teachers are incredibly patient and genuinely caring, which has made a big difference for my son. He feels comfortable asking questions and has grown more confident in his studies. I’m truly grateful for the supportive and encouraging environment they provide. Highly recommended!
Ancourage has been a wonderful learning environment for students who need both academic support and encouragement. The teachers are patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping each child improve. Lessons are well-structured, and the guidance given goes beyond just completing homework — they focus on building strong foundations and confidence.
It’s inspiring to see how much effort the team puts into refining their teaching methods and supporting every student’s growth. The steady improvement in students’ performance clearly reflects their dedication. Highly recommended for parents looking for a tuition centre that truly cares!
Started off as a trial class for my 5-year-old, and Teacher Angie immediately noticed her creativity and love for colours and concepts. We’ve been with the school for many months now, and my child truly enjoys every lesson. Teacher Angie motivates and guides her with such kindness — like an angel — helping her build the confidence and imagination to create her own ideas, even at just from 4 - 5 years old. This extra curriculum lesson is good for keeps and release their daily tension thru an artwork and a brush! Thank you Teacher Angie!
Ancourage Tuition has really helped me improve a lot, especially my confidence when answering challenging maths questions. The classes are effective and easy to follow, and the teachers actually make sure you understand what you’re learning. Teacher Min is especially great, super patient with me and always explains things clearly, even when I completely forget about basics i should by right already know. You can tell she really cares about her students. Definitely recommend this place if you want a chill but effective tuition. 11/10!⭐
I’ve really enjoyed my math tuition lessons with Teacher Min! She explains concepts clearly and makes even the difficult topics much easier to understand. I like how patient she is whenever I make mistakes, and she always gives helpful tips and step by step guidance. Her lessons are engaging, well-structured, and I’ve seen a big improvement in my results and confidence in math since joining her class. I’m very grateful for her support and highly recommend Teacher Min to anyone looking for a kind, dedicated, and effective math teacher! 😀

illum.e is an MOE-registered tuition centre offering upper secondary and O Level Humanities, including Social Studies and Combined Humanities pairings with Geography or History. It also supports G1, G2 and G3 Humanities under Full Subject-Based Banding, keeping the programme relevant as Singapore’s assessment arrangements change. Humanities lessons use focused lectures, targeted practice, immediate feedback, in-house notes, infographics, mind maps and examination-paper questions. An average teacher-to-learner ratio of one to eight may provide closer support than larger lecture settings while retaining opportunities for group discussion. Tutors are described as former MOE teachers or experienced educators selected through a competitive application process. With six campuses and hybrid options for older learners, illum.e may appeal to families seeking structured Social Studies tuition with several location choices and access to consultations.
Why Parents Choose illum.e?
Parents may consider illum.e when their teen responds well to visual summaries and clearly sequenced question strategies. Infographics and mind maps can make interconnected Social Studies issues easier to retrieve, while immediate feedback helps prevent repeated application errors. The reported one-to-eight ratio may also support teens who need occasional individual clarification but still benefit from hearing their classmates’ interpretations. Multiple campuses and hybrid lessons can reduce scheduling strain, although parents should confirm the exact Social Studies timetable before choosing a branch.
Before joining illum.e, I was scoring badly for GP up until promos in J1. I did not understand how GP worked and what was even required to score well in GP. After joining illum.e in J2, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo's lessons made me understand that GP was actually very much doable. Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would also always make the extra effort to help me mark and provide feedback on areas for improvement promptly. Would definitely recommend anyone considering a GP tuition centre to join illum.e!
I enrolled into Illume in 2024 in Mr Chia and Mr Yeo class at Jurong East campus, and throughout the 1.5 years in illume, I managed to improve my GP significantly through the structured classes and lectures. The lesson materials were useful since it provided easy to remember methods and strategies to tackle the broad subject requirements. Additionally Mr Chia and Mr Yeo were engaging and frequently put in the effort to make our lessons fun and interesting. Furthermore, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would take time to consult with us and check our essay outlines or comprehension questions outside of lesson hours or during exam periods, even if they were very busy. Overall, illume has helped me not only in scoring an A for GP but also equip me with general knowledge about local and global affairs, which are valuable when entering the workforce in the future.
Mr Chia played the biggest role in helping me achieve an A for GP during my A Levels. Before attending his classes, I was completely clueless about how to write good essays, as the help given by my school teachers was too vague and confusing. I am very grateful to Mr Chia, who taught me how to use illum.e’s very own skill sets to dissect question types and keyword types, which are the keys to answering any type of essay question.
I truly appreciate that in every single lesson, Mr Chia made it a point to review every student’s answers and provide personalised feedback to target the weaknesses in our responses and teach us how to improve. I also liked that he engaged with his students in class to ensure that we were following him and to liven up the atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised when I wrote at least three additional essays for Mr Chia to mark and he returned them to me with fully annotated scripts showing where I could improve. Every piece of feedback was immensely useful. (He was not obliged to mark them at all.) This showed his dedication and responsibility towards helping his students.
As for comprehension, I went from barely passing to getting an A during prelims. Similarly, I would credit this improvement to Mr Chia. He was very encouraging, even when the class struggled to paraphrase certain words.
Finally, even though I only joined his classes in April of J2, I was able to see myself doing better in GP at school after applying the feedback Mr Chia gave. This shows how experienced he is in knowing exactly what his students need to do to perform better in the subject.
I 100% recommend juniors who feel uncertain about GP to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My English teacher, Mr. Chia from Illum Education (Jurong East), played a huge role in helping me achieve a B3 in my National Examinations.
When I first joined in mid-May, I was barely passing with around 50 marks. Even close to Prelims in late July, I was still stuck at 55 and extremely worried about my actual exams. After consulting Mr. Chia, the improvement I saw within just three weeks was honestly insane.
He didn’t just teach me content; he fixed my exam strategy. For Paper 1 (especially Situational Writing), I used to write the wrong things and overwrite. He taught me how to write less but include the right points to score higher. For Paper 2, I used to struggle to find answers in the passage, but after his guidance, it became much easier.
What really stood out was his care and dedication. Despite being busy, he still took time to mark my extra work and patiently answer my questions after lessons. He always checked in to make sure I had no doubts.
If you want results, Mr. Chia is the teacher you need. Highly recommended.
Mr Roger was my teacher at Illum.e. I joined midway through Sec 4, and many people questioned why I decided to start tuition so close to my O Levels. Previously, I believed I could self-study and still achieve a good grade for English. However, after receiving my WA1 and WA2 results, I realised my grades were declining from a C6 to a D7. That was when I told my mum that I needed tuition.
During my time at Illum.e, I learnt a lot from Mr Roger. He always took the time to explain every detail clearly, especially words or concepts that students were unsure of. Beyond that, Illum.e taught us how to approach questions based on what markers are actually looking for. This helped me understand how to answer effectively without overthinking or overwriting during exams.
As a result, I was able to manage my time much better in my actual O Levels. I am truly grateful to Illum.e and for my own hard work, which helped me achieve a B3 for my English O Levels.
My child’s English grade improved significantly from E8 to an A, and we are extremely grateful to illum.e.
After just one visit, we decided to entrust our child to the centre, and it proved to be the right decision. The staff at the Jurong East branch were warm, supportive, and professional, and Mr. Roger’s guidance made a tremendous difference. June felt comfortable and well-supported throughout her learning journey.
The materials provided were relevant and effective, and the team was always helpful and flexible in arranging make-up classes or alternative schedules when needed.
Thank you, illum.e, and especially Mr. Roger, for your dedication and commitment to our child’s O-Level success. We truly appreciate all your hard work.
I was a student of illume in 2025 ( I joined halfway throught the year) for the subject GP. I was taught by MrLiew and his lessons were wonderful. His lessons are always well prepared and MrLiew always make sure all his explanations are well elaborated in a way that is clear and easy to understand for everyone. MrLiew is also very patient and takes time to explain the mistakes that I and other students make. Before illume, I was very weak in GP and did not understand how to properly structure my essays, AQ and the SAQ formats, but thanks to MrLiew, I have a much much netter understanding especially for SAQs which really helped me improve in GP and i jumped 3 grades from mid years to prelims. MrLiew has greatly helped me in this short span of a few months!

How to Choose the Best O Level Social Studies Tuition for Your Child?
The best O Level Social Studies tuition matches the precise reason your teen is struggling, rather than simply adding more weekly worksheets. Consider whether the difficulty concerns content knowledge, source interpretation, structured responses, time management or confidence before comparing the following practical factors.
Identify the main learning gap first, because weak contextual knowledge requires different support from careless evidence use or unfinished timed answers.
Match teaching style to your teen, choosing discussion, visual notes, explicit frameworks or individual coaching according to how they process difficult material.
Examine tutor experience and feedback practices, since Social Studies improvement often depends on precise diagnosis of reasoning, relevance and explanation quality.
Compare class size with support needs, as quiet teens may require smaller groups or one-to-one tuition to ask questions comfortably.
Balance location, reviews and total cost, including travel time, lesson frequency and whether testimonials reflect the programme your teen will actually attend.
No option is universally suitable. A specialist Humanities class may offer richer discussion, while personalised home tuition may address school-specific weaknesses more directly. Speak with the tutor about recent work, marking practices and expected homework, then observe whether your teen can explain corrections independently after several lessons. Sustainable improvement may appear through clearer reasoning, better pacing and growing confidence, rather than dependence on memorised model answers.
Our home tuition rates are constantly updated based on rates quoted by Home Tutors in Singapore. These market rates are based on the volume of 10,000+ monthly tuition assignment applications over a pool of 60,000+ active home tutors.
