Free Request For Tuition

Choosing among the Top 10 Secondary 2 History Tuition Centres in Singapore can feel difficult when your child remembers events but struggles to interpret sources or organise written answers. At secondary 2, History increasingly demands inference, comparison, reliability assessment and clear explanation, rather than simple recall of dates and facts. The right support may close these gaps before upper secondary Humanities becomes more demanding. This guide compares specialist History tuition, small-group classes, online programmes and broader secondary 2 tuition centres, with attention to teaching methods, feedback, convenience and fees. Parents can use it to identify whether their child needs closer marking, clearer content teaching, stronger source-based question skills or a learning format that fits school and CCA commitments.

Key Takeaways

  • Strong Secondary 2 History tuition should teach source interpretation, evidence use and structured writing, rather than relying mainly on memorised content.
  • Compare class size, marking frequency and tutor experience because children who stay quiet may require direct questioning and specific written feedback.
  • Online lessons reduce travel time, while physical secondary 2 tuition centres may suit children who concentrate better with face-to-face supervision.

MindFlex – Your Best Platform for Secondary 2 History Home Tuition

Overview of Business

MindFlex Tuition Agency connects Singapore families with private tutors for personalised secondary 2 History tuition at home or online. Rather than following one fixed classroom programme, the agency matches each child according to syllabus needs, learning pace, schedule, location, budget and preferred tutor profile. A History tutor may reinforce lower secondary content, diagnose weak source-based question skills or guide the child towards clearer evidence-based explanations. This individual format can suit children who hesitate to ask questions in school or repeatedly make the same interpretation errors in written work. With more than 50,000 active tutors across different qualifications and price bands, MindFlex gives parents room to compare suitable options. The matching service is free, so families pay tuition fees without a separate agency charge.

Why Parents Choose MindFlex?

Parents may choose MindFlex when their child needs focused History support rather than another group class moving at a fixed pace. Tutor matching can account for school topics, weaker question types and whether the child needs patient content explanations or firmer writing practice. Families may request part-time, full-time, current or former MOE teachers according to their budget and expectations. Home and online arrangements also ease travel pressure after school or CCA, while coordinators available throughout the week can support a quicker tutor search.

It has truly been a blessing to find Mr. Tan Tiam Teng as my son’s Chinese tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated—qualities that have made a huge difference in my son’s learning journey. My Primary 4 son has shown remarkable improvement in his Chinese since starting lessons, and we are so grateful for the progress.

Beyond the academic results, Mr. Tan’s teaching style has built my son’s confidence and interest in the subject. He is punctual, pleasant disposition and understands what a child needs. The entire experience with Mind Flex has also been very pleasant, professional, and supportive.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tutor who genuinely cares and delivers excellent results

Friendly, pleasant, swift, helpful and most importantly not pushy

Beyond home tuition, MindFlex has gathered practical details on ten secondary 2 History tuition centres, including programme formats, teaching methods, locations, fees and contact information. Relevant Google review widgets are included where available, helping parents consider recent experiences alongside each programme’s approach. Still, each option should be weighed against your child’s learning habits, schedule and current difficulties with History.

1. Bespoke Learning Centre

Overview of the Business

Bespoke Learning Centre has branches in Yishun, Punggol, Tampines and Sembawang, with MOE-aligned tuition taught in small groups and guided by personalised learning plans. Its confirmed regular History programme is Combined Humanities for secondary 3 to secondary 5, covering Social Studies with either History or Geography. As a dedicated secondary 2 History class has not been confirmed, parents comparing secondary 2 History tuition centres in Singapore may wish to ask whether suitable lessons or individual support can be arranged. Many tutors are former MOE teachers, which may reassure families looking for guidance that reflects school expectations. Classes have up to eight students, giving quieter children more opportunities to raise questions instead of staying silent in a crowded classroom.

Why Parents Choose Bespoke Learning Centre?

Parents may consider Bespoke Learning Centre because its humanities lessons cover source-based and structured-response questions, PEEL paragraphs, model essays and answer templates. This approach addresses familiar History difficulties, such as retelling a source rather than analysing it, or producing long answers without a clear argument. Small groups may help tutors spot these habits earlier and offer more focused feedback. However, as the confirmed Combined Humanities programme begins at secondary 3, families seeking secondary 2 History tuition should check that any available class matches their child’s current syllabus before enrolling.

Moved from Commit Learning to Bespoke. Compared to Commit, it different in below:
1. Teacher help practise the spelling and Ting Xie.
2. Open until 8pm (Commit 6:30pm), have air-conditioning.
3. Can fetch any time. (Commit if you late a minute have to wait hours for next slot to fetch kids, strictly no compromise)
4. Teacher more patient, talk loud to student but not shouting. (Compared to Commit teachers keep shouting at student)
5. My child is happier there.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Do NOT register your child at Bespoke Khatib.
The level of negligence here is appalling. The teachers failed to pick up my daughter twice in two weeks. This isn't just a "mistake"—it is a recurring safety failure that shows they learn nothing from their errors. There was an incident happened on 30th Jan, Friday where they failed to pick up my daughter and her friend from the bus stop simply because they assumed there was no school, without even bothering to verify with the parents.

Similarly, another incident happened at 6th Feb, Friday, where they failed to pick up my daughter when she is alone.

Worse still, the management is a total mess. The Cluster Head, Bernard, doesn’t even know his new teachers' names, which points to a massive internal organisational issue. There is clearly zero respect for leadership and no communication.

To top it off, on the day of the incident, the teacher Qilah at the centre kept rejecting my calls instead of facing the situation. Teacher Qilah even said that she would take a photo of my child when my child was not picked up. At least, they should show some effort to find the kids that were not picked up. If you value your child’s safety, stay far away from this place as the teachers will not account who is missing.

In addition, the upper management fail to give an apology to the parents and only rely on Bernard, the cluster head to communicate. This showed a lack of respect to the affected parents regarding their mistakes in oversight for failing to correct the mistakes twice. I should not have believe they will change after the first incident. Please learn from my mistake.
Bespoke Learning Centre has been wonderful for our kid. Ms Natasha and all teachers are caring and friendly. My child feels happy and safe there. The teachers help with schoolwork which takes a huge load off for us parents. The students are also taught about the importance of chores. My child enjoys the food here. We are glad we found this student care centre.

I’m very happy with this student care centre. The teachers and staff are caring, patient, and genuinely attentive to the children’s needs. They not only provide a safe and comfortable environment but also help with homework, encourage good habits, and organise fun, engaging activities. My child has grown more confident, independent, and always looks forward to going. Highly recommended to any parent looking for quality care and guidance for their child.
At Bespoke, the teachers are both professional and knowledgeable, creating a supportive and engaging environment for learning. The staff are approachable and make the center a welcoming place for students. My child enjoys attending Bespoke for after-school care, and I appreciate the wide range of activities available, especially during school holidays. They also assist with homework and provide additional assessments, which has been incredibly helpful. Overall, Bespoke offers a fantastic balance of education and recreation, and I’m very pleased with the care and support my child receives.

Don’t recommend for this learning Center at wisteria mall.
The teacher and staff and so call manager can’t give a answer
1st - teacher keep come late and make us wait
2nd - the admin staff change the teacher for the day without informing the student parent
3rd - for primary 1 math , they teach the kids by using calculator and is not the first time.
4th - the manager keep reject me to say to the higher authority.

Think twice if you gonna send your kids to here.

Teaching Methodology

  • MOE-aligned materials connect lesson content with school expectations, reducing confusion between tuition lessons and classroom terminology.
  • Source-based question frameworks guide children to examine evidence, purpose and context rather than simply paraphrasing the extracts.
  • PEEL structures help children organise historical arguments clearly, especially when their written responses become descriptive or unfocused.
  • Model essays and answer templates demonstrate the expected depth while giving tutors reference points for more focused feedback.
  • Topical worksheets and timed practices build exam familiarity, helping children manage evidence selection and writing time more carefully.

2. Ancourage Academy

Overview of the Business

Ancourage Academy is an MOE-registered learning centre established in 2024, offering secondary 2 History tuition upon request at its Bishan and Woodlands branches. Lessons usually have three to six students, with most classes reportedly attended by three or four, so tutors may more readily spot weak source interpretation, vague explanations, and unsupported historical claims. Founder and Academic Director Min Hui has over 11 years of teaching experience, while the academy applies its ESB methodology across academic subjects. For History, this approach may help teens who recall isolated facts but struggle to link causes, consequences, evidence, and differing perspectives in structured answers. Classes follow the Full Subject-Based Banding framework, with in-person and live online options available. Parents comparing secondary 2 History tuition centres in Singapore may appreciate the close guidance, systematic recall, and flexible lesson formats.

Why Parents Choose Ancourage Academy?

Parents may consider Ancourage Academy if their teen tends to stay quiet in larger classes or needs closer correction of History responses. Small-group lessons allow tutors to question unclear reasoning and work out whether marks are being lost through weak recall, source misreading, or incomplete explanations. Spaced revision may also help teens who understand a chapter in class but forget important details before school assessments. WhatsApp homework support, termly progress reports, Parent-Teacher Consultations, exam guidance, and flexible replacement lessons may help families track progress without every revision session at home becoming an argument.

Started off as a trial class for my 5-year-old, and Teacher Angie immediately noticed her creativity and love for colours and concepts. We’ve been with the school for many months now, and my child truly enjoys every lesson. Teacher Angie motivates and guides her with such kindness — like an angel — helping her build the confidence and imagination to create her own ideas, even at just from 4 - 5 years old. Subjects Offered

  • Secondary History (Sec 1-2)

  • Bruner scaffolding moves from guided examples to independent responses, supporting teens who find explanations difficult to organise.
  • Lessons cover recap, guided questions, worked examples, independent attempts, and error analysis for more focused correction.
  • Live online classes use digital whiteboards and real-time discussion, giving teens immediate feedback while learning from home.

Location & Availability

Classes are available at Bishan and Vista Point in Woodlands. Live Microsoft Teams lessons offer an islandwide option for families managing school, CCA commitments, travel time, and weekday homework.

3. Herzen

Overview of Business

Herzen is a History-specialist tuition centre offering Lower Secondary History through fully online small-group lessons. Its secondary 2 programme covers source-based questions, essay writing, critical thinking and the conversion of textbook knowledge into concise explanations. Rather than asking children to memorise whole chapters indiscriminately, tutors emphasise a smaller body of key content that can be applied across different question types. Lessons include real-time writing and corrections, allowing misconceptions or weak reasoning to be addressed while the child’s thought process remains visible. Steve Chang teaches lower secondary students, while Anthony Choong leads History curriculum development. Classes are described across different pages as having no more than five or six students, and a free 30-minute one-to-one trial helps families clarify weaknesses and expectations.

Why Parents Choose Herzen?

Parents may consider Herzen when their child finds History content overwhelming or receives vague comments such as “explain further” without knowing what needs to change. A subject-specialist tutor can focus closely on inference, evidence selection and concise writing, instead of dividing lesson time across several Humanities subjects. Real-time correction may suit children who repeat the same reasoning error across different worksheets. The online-only model also saves travel time, although parents should consider whether their child remains attentive and is comfortable participating through a screen.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary History (Sec 1-5)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Tutors teach versatile key content, helping children answer varied questions without memorising every textbook paragraph.
  • Real-time writing lets tutors correct unclear reasoning immediately, before ineffective sentence patterns become familiar habits.
  • Source-based practice develops inference and critical evaluation, supporting answers grounded in evidence rather than guesswork.
  • Small online groups allow personalised pacing, which may help quieter children contribute without facing a crowded classroom.
  • Collaborative Google Slides reveal each reasoning step, enabling tutors to guide thinking instead of supplying answers outright.

Location and Availability

All Herzen classes take place online, allowing secondary 2 children to learn from home and avoid travelling after school or CCA.

Price Range

Lower Secondary History costs $50 per hour, with lessons typically lasting two hours. A free 30-minute one-to-one trial is also available.

4. learnMOJO

Overview of Business

learnMOJO provides online Humanities coaching designed specifically for secondary 1 to secondary 4 students, including a regular secondary 2 History programme. Founded in 2014 by former MOE History and Social Studies teacher Karen Ang, it works with NIE-trained former MOE educators who have experience setting examinations and marking scripts. Weekly small-group coaching combines bite-sized assignments, live teaching, marked corrections and ongoing support through its D.A.T.A. System. Classes are capped at four students, giving tutors room to inspect how each child interprets sources and constructs answers. Recordings remain accessible in a private virtual classroom, which may help when school commitments interrupt revision. Published parent feedback includes a secondary 2 History improvement from C6 to A2, although individual outcomes naturally depend on participation, practice and starting needs.

Why Parents Choose learnMOJO?

Parents may choose learnMOJO if their child needs frequent accountability rather than occasional revision close to an examination. Weekly assignments, corrections and progress tracking create a visible practice cycle, helping families see whether mistakes are being understood or merely rewritten. The four-child class cap may suit a quiet learner who needs direct prompting and personal feedback. Online recordings and WhatsApp support also maintain continuity between lessons, while former MOE teachers bring practical familiarity with how History scripts are assessed.

Through Teacher Karen dedicated guidance, my child scored A2 for History. The comprehensive notes and worksheets helped my child to consistently achieve As throughout his Sec 2. Even though, he is unable to attend the live lessons due to CCA commitments, he is able to do it the day after as it’s available for students to watch recordings anytime and clarify any doubts through the Q&A support. My daughter joined the Sec 1 online history and geography lessons in 2025 and she was able to fully understand the syllabus. The teachers were patient with all of her questions and answered her questions. They also explained the syllabus very clearly such that she was able to understand within one lesson. The notes were also very simple and easy to understand for her to be able to do self revision and memorise the notes quickly. She improved from B4 to A2 in just a short period of time. She is happy to continue with the sec 2 online lesson for both subjects this year due to the flexibility and the effectiveness of the lesson.

We would like to extend our thank you and greatest appreciation to Tr Karen and Tr Stacy for doing such a wonderful and great job with their online lessons and dedicated guidance.

Learn Mojo provides very well structured notes. The techniques taught on how to answer different types of examination questions were especially useful. Chapter summary notes for memorisation, practise paper that comes with soft copy answers as well as video for each question to explain for the child were very well developed. My child was initially cluless how to study for history when he commence his sec 1 journey, but Learn Mojo played a very crucial role in my child's attainment of A1 for history and A2 for geography for his EOY.

My son enjoyed the sec 1 online history and geography lessons. The 1-hour lessons are just the right length — focused and efficient, without the need to spend time travelling. The teachers are very encouraging and explains the topics clearly at a comfortable pace. The practice questions are very useful for revisions too. It helped to reinforce what they learned during lessons. Overall, a happy learning experience!

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Secondary 3-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • Weekly bite-sized assignments make History practice manageable, reducing the temptation to postpone revision until assessment week.
  • Marked corrections require children to revisit errors, helping feedback translate into changed reasoning rather than passive acknowledgement.
  • Focused live teaching addresses diagnosed content gaps, so lesson time targets weaknesses revealed through recent submitted work.
  • Classes capped at four students create space for individual questions, oral explanation and specific source-analysis feedback.
  • Recorded sessions support revision after class, especially when children need to replay difficult inference or comparison explanations.

Location and Availability

Small-group coaching is conducted online, with recorded lessons stored privately. This arrangement may suit families seeking regular support without weekday travel across Singapore.

5. The Urban Historian

Overview of Business

The Urban Historian offers live online small-group tuition for secondary 1 and secondary 2 History, led by a former MOE Humanities Head of Department with 20 years of teaching experience. Secondary 2 lessons target inference, purpose, comparison, reliability and essay writing through guided practice, model answers and focused written tasks. The programme follows the Singapore MOE syllabus and combines regular practice with personalised feedback, rather than relying on content drilling alone. Screen-shared examples and annotated sources allow children to see how evidence should be selected and explained. Self-paced Urban Academy resources are also available for revision outside scheduled classes, with chapter videos, notes and examination practice. This combination may suit children who benefit from live teacher direction but still need flexible materials for independent catch-up.

Why Parents Choose The Urban Historian?

Parents may shortlist The Urban Historian for its direct alignment with secondary 2 History skills and its experienced Humanities leadership. Step-by-step source analysis can help children who identify surface details but struggle to explain purpose, reliability or contextual meaning. Small online groups offer access to the teacher without added travel, while self-paced resources provide extra revision when a school test approaches. The format may be less suitable for children who disengage online, so families should weigh convenience against the level of supervision their child needs.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary Humanities: History (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Secondary 3-4)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Story-based instruction and strong visuals make unfamiliar historical contexts easier for secondary 2 children to follow.
  • Guided source practice teaches inference, purpose and reliability through visible steps rather than unexplained model responses.
  • Short focused writing tasks reduce overload while giving tutors frequent opportunities to correct analytical weaknesses.
  • Annotated examples show where evidence supports a claim, helping children avoid copying source details without explanation.
  • Model answers and personalised feedback clarify expected depth, structure and phrasing for school-based History assessments.

Location and Availability

Live small-group classes run online on weekday evenings, while Urban Academy offers self-paced Secondary History revision resources that children can access independently.

6. LitHumanities Tuition

Overview of Business

LitHumanities Tuition provides Lower Secondary Humanities support through Mdm Yu, an NIE-trained tutor with a Master’s in Literary Studies from NUS and more than 15 years of experience. Its secondary 2 options include Humanities instruction and customised English and Humanities combination sessions, allowing lesson time to shift towards an approaching History assessment when needed. Lower secondary teaching covers essential History concepts, source work, question types, scaffolding and presentation of findings. The small-group format may give children more opportunities for discussion and personal correction than a large lecture class. Mdm Yu also teaches upper secondary History, providing continuity for families considering longer-term Humanities support. Parents should clarify whether a dedicated History-only slot or a combination session better matches their child’s current gaps, school assessments and weekly workload.

Why Parents Choose LitHumanities Tuition?

Parents may consider LitHumanities Tuition when their child struggles across related language and Humanities skills, rather than with factual knowledge alone. Customised combination sessions can direct more time towards History before a test while retaining support for another subject. Scaffolding and guided practice may help a child who knows the content but cannot organise source-based explanations independently. However, families should compare the depth of History practice in a multi-subject lesson with a dedicated class, especially if written analysis remains the main weakness.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Literature (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Secondary 3-4)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Scaffolded source work breaks complex questions into manageable decisions, helping children build independent analytical routines gradually.
  • Question-type practice familiarises children with varying demands, reducing confusion when school assessments phrase tasks differently.

7. The Thinktank

Overview of Business

The Thinktank is an MOE-registered private school founded in 2008, with a secondary 1 to secondary 4 Humanities programme covering History, Social Studies, Geography and related disciplines. Its approach prioritises critical thinking, conceptual understanding, authentic learning and independent thought, qualities that match the growing analytical demands of secondary 2 History. Humanities Clinics provide individually targeted support for children who need more attention than a regular group curriculum allows. These sessions can take place face to face or through online conferencing, with weekly assistance for school assignments and home practice. Teachers bring experience from local, international, tertiary and special-needs settings, and former department heads lead the team. Parents should ask how the broad Humanities programme allocates time to secondary 2 History content and source-based writing.

Why Parents Choose The Thinktank?

Parents may choose The Thinktank if their child needs to reason more independently instead of memorising prepared History explanations. Its learner-focused approach can support children who have ideas but struggle to organise assumptions, arguments and evidence coherently. Individual Humanities Clinics may be helpful when school-specific topics or recurring source errors require concentrated attention. As the regular offering spans several Humanities disciplines, parents should establish whether group or individual lessons provide enough secondary 2 History practice for their child’s particular assessment format.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary History (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Secondary 1-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • Conceptual teaching connects historical events and consequences, reducing dependence on isolated facts learned without meaningful relationships.
  • Critical-thinking tasks encourage children to question assumptions, supporting more defensible interpretations of unfamiliar historical sources.
  • Learner-focused instruction adjusts challenge and pacing, helping children address individual weaknesses rather than follow uniform drills.
  • Individual Humanities Clinics target school assignments, allowing tutors to correct specific reasoning or writing difficulties directly.
  • Weekly online assistance supports home practice, which may prevent unanswered questions from accumulating between formal tuition sessions.

Location and Availability

Classes are based at 25 Binjai Park, while Humanities Clinics can also run through online conferencing with weekly assistance for assignments and home practice.

Price Range

Families should contact The Thinktank directly to ask about current rates for group lessons or individual Humanities Clinics.

8. Aspire Hub

Overview of Business

Aspire Hub offers Secondary History within a broad academic coaching network serving students across numerous Singapore branches and online. Its programmes follow the latest MOE syllabus and use a five-stage coaching framework covering diagnosis, clarification, structure, strengthening and examination preparation. For a secondary 2 child, the diagnostic stage may reveal whether weaker History results come from missing content, misunderstood sources, careless question reading or poorly organised explanations. Coaches then use step-by-step instruction, targeted practice, feedback and progress tracking to address the identified gaps. Some branch information describes small-group sessions with fewer than six students, although online class sizes may be larger. The combination of islandwide access and structured coaching may appeal to families seeking History support with the convenience of a nearby multi-subject centre.

Why Parents Choose Aspire Hub?

Parents may consider Aspire Hub because its diagnostic framework begins with the child’s actual errors, instead of assuming every weaker grade has the same cause. Structured answering systems and timed practice can help children who understand a History chapter but lose marks through incomplete evidence or explanation. Numerous branches reduce travel difficulties, while live online options provide an alternative during busy school weeks. Families should confirm the secondary 2 History timetable, class size and tutor background at their preferred branch because arrangements may vary.

If you are planning to retake Alevels for whatever reason, this is the place to go!
After attaining my Alevel results in 2025, I was filled with disappointment. I felt that I could've done better. My sister then recommended me this tuition centre and after reading up on the good reviews, I immediately signed up.
Retaking Alevels while in NS was no joke. Thankfully, with Coach Shervin's and Jervin's guidance, they thought me how to plan my time properly, to deal with NS and studies.
With their knowledgeable and unwavering support, I managed to attain As for Economics, Chemistry and Maths.
Therefore, with their exceptional coaching skills, I whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone who wants to improve their results.

My son showed significant improvement after joining Aspire Hub. The personalised time package was effective, and the coaches focused on his weaker areas with clear guidance. He achieved 6 A1s in his O-Level results, including A1s in Additional Math, Elementary Math, and Physics, which he took at Aspire Hub. The administrative support was also professional and well-organised, with clear communication from Madam Juliana. We plan to continue with Aspire Hub when he enters JC.

Aspire Hub is more than a tuition center—it is a true student coaching center. The coaches do not simply teach or provide answers; they are highly skilled at unlocking students’ thinking, confidence, and problem-solving ability, helping them overcome mental blocks and progress quickly. Their coaching philosophy focuses on developing positive mindset and personal growth, not just academic results. At the same time, the center is run with genuine care and warmth, creating a supportive, Juliana walked my son down the stairs when he broke his legs, Jervin and Shervin encouraged my daughter to gain back confidence while her science subjects were disappointing. This is a place that we were continuing to go even we moved from a neighbouring place to a 1-hour commuting area, as we prefer to spend money with optimal return of value and genuine care giving to my children

9. ECube Science & Math Lab

Overview of Business

ECube Science & Math Lab offers Secondary Humanities, including History, alongside its better-known Science and math programmes. Lower secondary fees and customised group arrangements are identified, although the precise structure of a regular secondary 2 History timetable is not detailed. Its general three-part approach introduces content in advance, reinforces understanding and revises material before school assessments. Curated notes, topic summaries and differentiated worksheets may support History students who need clearer organisation or questions pitched at a suitable difficulty. Groups can also be formed for students from the same school or class, allowing lesson order and assessment timing to follow shared needs. Former MOE educators, including former department heads and subject leaders, make up the teaching team, but parents should confirm the assigned History tutor’s experience and class availability.

Why Parents Choose ECube Science & Math Lab?

Parents may consider ECube Science & Math Lab when their child would benefit from a school-specific group whose topic order follows upcoming assessments. Advance teaching can reduce the shock of unfamiliar History chapters, while reinforcement near tests may support more purposeful revision. Differentiated worksheets also allow the difficulty of practice to rise gradually, rather than confronting a child with advanced sources immediately. As much of ECube’s detailed methodology concerns Science and math, families should ask how these general practices are adapted for secondary 2 History source analysis and writing.

Mr lam is a GREAT CHEM TEACHER!!
I first joined him when i was failing chemistry at the end of sec3 and had a lot of conceptual misunderstandings and self doubt. With his constant patience and guidance during lessons, i managed to gradually improve my chem grade and eventually get an A1 for O levels. He is very supportive of his students - Not only just for chemistry, he also gives us very important life lessons👍 He is very thorough when going through topics and is always open for students to ask him questions after class and goes the extra mile to clear our doubts. He is actually a chem GOAT! 5/5

10. illum.e

Overview of Business

illum.e is an MOE-registered tuition centre offering Humanities programmes across secondary levels, including History support from secondary 2 onwards under Full Subject-Based Banding. Its lessons combine structured thinking systems, in-house notes, targeted practice, immediate feedback and examination-paper questions. An average teacher-to-child ratio of one to eight creates a middle ground between individual tuition and a larger lecture class. For secondary 2 History, the approach may help children identify what a question requires, organise evidence and correct recurring reasoning mistakes before upper secondary subject demands increase. Tutors are described as former MOE teachers or experienced educators selected through a selective recruitment process. Six campuses and online or hybrid options give families several ways to balance attendance with school, CCA commitments and travel time.

Why Parents Choose illum.e?

Parents may shortlist illum.e when their child needs explicit thinking steps rather than more content notes to memorise. Its structured question systems and on-the-spot feedback can clarify why an inference lacks support or why an explanation remains descriptive. A one-to-eight ratio may provide useful interaction while preserving group discussion, although children needing constant prompting might require closer support. Multiple campuses and online options also make attendance practical, but parents should confirm which locations currently run the appropriate secondary 2 History class.

Before joining illum.e, I was scoring badly for GP up until promos in J1. I did not understand how GP worked and what was even required to score well in GP. After joining illum.e in J2, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo's lessons made me understand that GP was actually very much doable. Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would also always make the extra effort to help me mark and provide feedback on areas for improvement promptly. Would definitely recommend anyone considering a GP tuition centre to join illum.e!

I enrolled into Illume in 2024 in Mr Chia and Mr Yeo class at Jurong East campus, and throughout the 1.5 years in illume, I managed to improve my GP significantly through the structured classes and lectures. The lesson materials were useful since it provided easy to remember methods and strategies to tackle the broad subject requirements. Additionally Mr Chia and Mr Yeo were engaging and frequently put in the effort to make our lessons fun and interesting. Furthermore, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would take time to consult with us and check our essay outlines or comprehension questions outside of lesson hours or during exam periods, even if they were very busy. Overall, illume has helped me not only in scoring an A for GP but also equip me with general knowledge about local and global affairs, which are valuable when entering the workforce in the future.

Mr Chia played the biggest role in helping me achieve an A for GP during my A Levels. Before attending his classes, I was completely clueless about how to write good essays, as the help given by my school teachers was too vague and confusing. I am very grateful to Mr Chia, who taught me how to use illum.e’s very own skill sets to dissect question types and keyword types, which are the keys to answering any type of essay question.

I truly appreciate that in every single lesson, Mr Chia made it a point to review every student’s answers and provide personalised feedback to target the weaknesses in our responses and teach us how to improve. I also liked that he engaged with his students in class to ensure that we were following him and to liven up the atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised when I wrote at least three additional essays for Mr Chia to mark and he returned them to me with fully annotated scripts showing where I could improve. Every piece of feedback was immensely useful. (He was not obliged to mark them at all.) This showed his dedication and responsibility towards helping his students.

As for comprehension, I went from barely passing to getting an A during prelims. Similarly, I would credit this improvement to Mr Chia. He was very encouraging, even when the class struggled to paraphrase certain words.

Finally, even though I only joined his classes in April of J2, I was able to see myself doing better in GP at school after applying the feedback Mr Chia gave. This shows how experienced he is in knowing exactly what his students need to do to perform better in the subject.

I 100% recommend juniors who feel uncertain about GP to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My English teacher, Mr. Chia from Illum Education (Jurong East), played a huge role in helping me achieve a B3 in my National Examinations.

When I first joined in mid-May, I was barely passing with around 50 marks. Even close to Prelims in late July, I was still stuck at 55 and extremely worried about my actual exams. After consulting Mr. Chia, the improvement I saw within just three weeks was honestly insane.

He didn’t just teach me content; he fixed my exam strategy. For Paper 1 (especially Situational Writing), I used to write the wrong things and overwrite. He taught me how to write less but include the right points to score higher. For Paper 2, I used to struggle to find answers in the passage, but after his guidance, it became much easier.

What really stood out was his care and dedication. Despite being busy, he still took time to mark my extra work and patiently answer my questions after lessons. He always checked in to make sure I had no doubts.

If you want results, Mr. Chia is the teacher you need. Highly recommended.

Mr Roger was my teacher at Illum.e. I joined midway through Sec 4, and many people questioned why I decided to start tuition so close to my O Levels. Previously, I believed I could self-study and still achieve a good grade for English. However, after receiving my WA1 and WA2 results, I realised my grades were declining from a C6 to a D7. That was when I told my mum that I needed tuition.

During my time at Illum.e, I learnt a lot from Mr Roger. He always took the time to explain every detail clearly, especially words or concepts that students were unsure of. Beyond that, Illum.e taught us how to approach questions based on what markers are actually looking for. This helped me understand how to answer effectively without overthinking or overwriting during exams.

As a result, I was able to manage my time much better in my actual O Levels. I am truly grateful to Illum.e and for my own hard work, which helped me achieve a B3 for my English O Levels.

My child’s English grade improved significantly from E8 to an A, and we are extremely grateful to illum.e.

After just one visit, we decided to entrust our child to the centre, and it proved to be the right decision. The staff at the Jurong East branch were warm, supportive, and professional, and Mr. Roger’s guidance made a tremendous difference. June felt comfortable and well-supported throughout her learning journey.

The materials provided were relevant and effective, and the team was always helpful and flexible in arranging make-up classes or alternative schedules when needed.

Thank you, illum.e, and especially Mr. Roger, for your dedication and commitment to our child’s O-Level success. We truly appreciate all your hard work.

Highly recommended!

I was a student of illume in 2025 ( I joined halfway throught the year) for the subject GP. I was taught by MrLiew and his lessons were wonderful. His lessons are always well prepared and MrLiew always make sure all his explanations are well elaborated in a way that is clear and easy to understand for everyone. MrLiew is also very patient and takes time to explain the mistakes that I and other students make. Before illume, I was very weak in GP and did not understand how to properly structure my essays, AQ and the SAQ formats, but thanks to MrLiew, I have a much much netter understanding especially for SAQs which really helped me improve in GP and i jumped 3 grades from mid years to prelims. MrLiew has greatly helped me in this short span of a few months!

How to Choose the Best Secondary 2 History Tuition for Your Child?

The best Secondary 2 History tuition depends on why your child is struggling and how they respond during lessons. Some children need clearer historical context, while others understand events but cannot infer, compare sources or support explanations with evidence. Before committing to a term, consider the points below and ask how each programme would address your child’s recurring History difficulties.

  • Identify the precise History weakness first, distinguishing content gaps from poor source interpretation, weak evidence use, unclear writing or slow assessment pacing.
  • Match lessons to your child’s style, choosing online, face-to-face, one-to-one or small-group tuition according to concentration, confidence and willingness to speak.
  • Examine the teaching approach closely, looking for guided source analysis, marked corrections and structured writing practice rather than notes and model answers alone.
  • Ask about relevant tutor experience, especially familiarity with lower secondary History, school-based assessment demands and feedback on inference, comparison and reliability questions.
  • Balance class size with practical access, considering whether personal attention justifies travel time, or whether a convenient online class supports steadier weekly attendance.
  • Compare reviews, fees and commitments carefully, using parent experiences as context while checking lesson duration, materials, trial arrangements and the realistic monthly budget.

A sensible choice should make your child’s mistakes easier to diagnose and correct without adding unsustainable pressure to an already full week. Where possible, use a trial or speak with the tutor about a recent school paper. The strongest fit is likely to be the programme that offers relevant History practice, specific feedback and a pace your child can maintain consistently.
