Upgrading from a 3/4 violin to a full-size 4/4 instrument for my son felt like a major milestone in our musical journey, and the experience with Stradivari Strings made it both meaningful and enjoyable.
What stood out most was how thoughtfully we were guided through the entire process. Instead of immediately focusing on brands, pricing, or specifications, Stradivari Strings first took the time to understand the musician’s aspirations, playing style, preferences, and budget. This made the experience feel very personal and tailored rather than transactional.
My son was encouraged to try several violins across different tonal qualities and styles. After each trial, Stradivari Strings asked for honest feedback and helped rank the instruments based on tone, responsiveness, comfort, and overall feel. We appreciated that the emphasis was placed on how the violin connected with the player rather than on labels or price tags. Only after narrowing down the final selection did we discuss the violin’s craftsmanship, quality, make, and pricing. This approach gave us confidence that the choice was genuinely based on suitability and musical compatibility.
Another highlight was how Stradivari Strings invited my son to perform a few musical pieces during the session. Stradivari Strings provided constructive feedback on playing technique, tone production, and musical development, along with a helpful roadmap to close in the skill gaps and on how my son could continue progressing toward his goals.
Overall, the experience at Stradivari Strings was professional, encouraging, and deeply musician-centered. We left not only with a wonderful violin upgrade, but also with greater clarity and confidence about the next stage of my son’s musical journey.
A special thank you to Rita Yeo for her warm accommodation and the flexibility she extended throughout our violin upgrade journey. Her support and understanding made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable.
I would gladly recommend Stradivari Strings to my friends and colleagues who are looking for trusted advice on purchasing a violin or exploring a musical journey, whether as a passionate learner or someone considering a career in music.
In year 2023, we met Rita at Stradivari Strings to buy a handcrafted violin for my daughter. In April 2026, we arranged an appointment with Rita, this time to select a hand crafted violin and violin bow for my daughter.
During both meetings, we had special experience at this shop when we bought new violins.
The kind shop owner, Rita, first showed my daughter three different violins and let her try them.
When choosing, Rita respected my daughter’s impressions and offered us plenty of guidance and advice — not only on how to care for a violin, but also on how to improve her playing.
As a non‑professional parent, I was truly grateful for her kindness and expertise. Her professional advice and warm attitude made the experience truly memorable for both of us. Needless to say, my daughter loves her new violin and takes great care of it!
My daughter starting intermediate violin classes with Mr Yeo. He is an excellent violin teacher. In addition to very strong musical background, he understands very well the needs of our 15 year old daughter and has managed to adapt to her so that she stays motivated with a willingness and pleasure to play. During weekly violin lessons, he knows how to encourage the students and is always very positive and at the same time provides very good advice in terms of technical skills. Laure has made much progress under his professorship. We strongly recommend him !
Our 12 year old child needed to upgrade his violin in size from a 3/4 to full, and quality from a beginner to something better. We casually tried out some violins at several violin shops and felt most comfortable at Stradivari Strings. Rita is super knowledgeable of the instruments--both musically and technically--and guided my child through his violin and violin bow selection process. She listened to what my musician's preferences are and expectations of his instrument and presented him with the different violins for him to try. She encouraged my violinist to try as many violins to find the one that he enjoys playing most and the sound he likes best. After selecting the violin, Rita curated some bows to pair with the violin. We highly recommend Stradivari Strings for your next violin, or cello...We saw cellos there at the shop too. It was such an amazing experience with Rita.
We had a wonderful experience at Stradivari Strings selecting violin and violin bow for my nephew, thanks to Rita’s exceptional service.
She patiently took the time to explain the differences between each violin and bow, helping my nephew try them one by one until he found the perfect fit. Her knowledge and kindness made the process smooth and enjoyable.
We also had a 3/4 violin string and bridge fixed during our visit. Rita clearly explained the condition of our bridge and the different types of strings available, which helped us make an informed choice. We truly appreciate her professionalism, patience, and genuine care. Highly recommended!

Started my violin lesson with Mei Ping. Her teaching is clear and adapting to my pace as a beginner, also very flexible in term of schedule and teaching material so the lesson is not too tiring, especially for a professional working adult like myself.
Valerie matched my dg to Ms Isabel when she was 4. She is very patient and detailed. I am amazed at how my dg has progressed over the past 1.5y. She teaches my dg various classical and popular songs and even technical studies that I thought would bore a young student but it did not. As a result, I am very impressed at how nimble my dg fingers are at such a young age!
My child was learning violin previously in a well known violin center but we saw little progress nor joy after 2-3 terms. We stopped subsequently to take a break. When we decided to resume late last year,, we seeked out The Happy Violinist. We were recommended a few violin teachers based on our requirements and finally, together with my daughter, decided to go with Ms Isabel Wong.
It was a blessing as i saw my daughter progressing well. She has become more focused and enjoys her violin lesson. Now, she is motivated to play well and practises regularly herself with her violin homework. We also saw how her violin skills has greatly improved under Ms Isabel Wong. Well recommended! 👍
It has been a joy working with Mei Ping. She is very accommodating and my kid love taking her violin classes with her. It helps her unwind especially on days where she is stressed from school work .
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Valerie through The Happy Violinist, and it has been an excellent experience from start to finish. She is professional, supportive, and truly dedicated to her work. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a violin teacher in Singapore, or to teachers seeking a reliable platform to connect with students.

Tanglewood staff and teachers are also very warm-hearted and are always ready to assist and go out of the way to help my daughter in her music learning journey.
Both my children truly enjoy their classes at Tanglewood! The teachers are highly qualified, professional, and passionate about music education. I especially appreciate the regular recitals organized by the school — they’ve been a fantastic way for my children to gain performance experience and build confidence.
Tanglewood clearly prioritizes the quality of its music education. The administrative staff are also wonderful — always friendly, patient with the kids, and quick to respond to any queries. I’m very happy with our experience here!
If you want the best and world class Cello teacher for your children, you must come to Tanglewood. Teacher Patrica is the best teacher that I ever met. I love her passion and patient in teaching my daughter and I can see her improvement immediately in her SYF! Best music school I have so far in Singapore. The staff are superb friendly and responsive, easy to approach to get help.
As an adult learner, I have had a wonderful experience with Tanglewood over the last few years. The teachers here are truly dedicated professionals, experienced, passionate, and attentive to each student’s musical growth. Beyond regular lessons, the school offers students many valuable opportunities, including recitals, overseas exchange programmes, ensemble experiences (both within and outside the school), and enriching workshops.

Communication is always respectful and timely, and they are responsive to any concerns or needs. Overall, it’s a nurturing and vibrant environment for any student (young and old) who wants to grow musically and confidently. Highly recommended!
As a parent, I’ve had a truly positive experience with Tanglewood Music School. The teachers are not only highly skilled and passionate, but the entire staff is incredibly friendly, responsive, and supportive. While the school fees are on the higher side and lessons are based on term packages, the value and quality of education we’ve received make it all worthwhile.
The Tanglewood staff have been very understanding and accommodating whenever we needed to make changes, even with their policies in place. Despite frequent adjustments to our schedule, they’ve always kept me informed without fail—sending updates promptly so we’re never confused and always show up on the correct day. That level of communication and care really stands out.
I’ve also appreciated the consistent communication I’ve had with the staff regarding exams, music pieces, and progress. They’re always willing to offer guidance and helpful advice, which has made a big difference in supporting my child’s learning journey.
What I love most is that Tanglewood doesn’t only focus on exams. They regularly organize recitals, workshops, masterclasses, year-end concerts, and ensemble sessions. They even offer overseas trips, which have been a great opportunity for my child to explore music beyond the classroom and gain broader exposure and experience. These extra activities really help build confidence and joy in learning music.
Overall, I’m very thankful for everything Tanglewood has done for my child, and I would highly recommend the school to any parent looking for a nurturing, well-rounded, and professional music education.

As an adult with dyslexia and ADHD, I was always apprehensive and curious about learning the piano. One day I decided to walk into Aureus to give it a shot. I'm so grateful that Teacher Siaw Yee was assigned to me. She was ever so patient and kind. There were some days where I couldn't even play a single note but there was never a hint of frustration. Only encouragement. I have stopped learning after 6mths due to work commitments. But thanks to Siaw Yee, I fell in love with the piano and will definitely resume piano lessons again in the future.
Also huge thanks to the front desk for always being super accommodating to this troublesome fella. Always service with a smile. Cheers
I would like to give a shoutout to Teacher Monica, who took over my daughter's musical learning in Music Exploration after her former teacher left without prior notice. Teacher Monica was warm and welcoming during our first meeting and made an effort to understand how much my daughter already knew and where her interests lie. Over the weeks, Teacher Monica has demonstrated tremendous patience and encouragement as she guided my daughter through both the theory and practical components of each lesson.
It is evident that Teacher Monica strongly believes in authentic teaching, engaging young children with fun, hands-on materials to make learning theory enjoyable while honing practical skills with musical instruments. I greatly appreciate this approach, as it made every session fruitful for my daughter. Her patience with young children is truly commendable.
Furthermore, on days when we arrived early, Teacher Monica could be seen practicing on the piano, demonstrating the importance of dedication and continuous self-improvement to bring out the best in her teaching.
Teacher Monica is truly one of the best music teachers we’ve met so far! Thank you, Teacher Monica, for your dedication and commitment to inspiring your students and sharing your passion with them.
My 2 sons are attending piano lessons here. Teacher Xin Tong's patience and ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way has made learning piano a joy for my elder son. Teacher Jacintha's passion for music is infectious and makes every lesson enjoyable. My younger son looks forward to his session every week.

"As a parent, we are truly thankful that our child joined Ms Cindy Yan’s programme at RAMP in 2020. At that time, she was around Grade 3 level, and after starting lessons with Ms Cindy Yan, she completely changed into a new person — not only in her violin playing, but also in her confidence, discipline, and passion for music.
Over the years, we witnessed tremendous growth in her musical journey. She achieved a High Distinction for her Grade 8 examination at only 11 years old, and later completed her Trinity ATCL Violin Diploma at a young age. She is now continuing her LTCL studies with great motivation and joy.
In Singapore, it is not always easy to find a structured and supportive violin diploma course for young students. We truly appreciate the platform, guidance, and long-term vision that RAMP violin provides for children who wish to continue learning music at a higher level.
Beyond academics, music has become a meaningful part of our daughter’s life. As parents, we are very grateful to see her growing up with music accompanying her journey."
"My son has been learning at RAMP Violin Academy for the past 1.5 years and the improvement during this period has been truly amazing!
Before joining RAMP, he had already learned violin for several years, but progress was quite slow.
Over the past 1.5 years, however, we have seen a complete transformation in both his playing and confidence. The teachers are very dedicated and thoughtful in guiding each student. From individual lessons, technique training, musical understanding, competition preparation, ensemble rehearsals, and masterclasses, every step is carefully planned to help children grow steadily.
One of the most meaningful parts of the journey has been the ensemble experience. I still remember how difficult it was for the children to play together during their first ensemble rehearsal and now it is wonderful to see them listening, communicating, and making music confidently together.
We are truly grateful for the warm and inspiring environment at RAMP Violin Academy. Highly recommended for parents looking for quality violin lessons and meaningful music education in Singapore. "
"Love the classes at RAMP Violin Academy! It has been such an enjoyable journey not only for my child, but for me as a parent as well. 😊
I am not a “music mum” myself, but after accompanying my children to lessons every week, I slowly started to appreciate and enjoy the learning process together with them. Both my kids attend lessons at RAMP and we always look forward to the classes each week.
My daughter has been studying with Ms Yan for the past 2.5 years, and I am truly happy to see how much she has progressed -not only musically, but also in confidence. Her improvement helped her successfully join the school ensemble and she was even given the role of first violin front desk in Primary 3.
We are very thankful for all the dedication and effort from the teachers at RAMP. The environment is warm, encouraging and inspiring for children to grow through music.
The teachers are always enthusiastic, interactive, and attentive to every child during lessons. We are excited to continue following Ms Yan’s guidance and plans for our daughter’s future DSA journey as well. "
The experienced and dedicated team at RAMP Academy are always working hard to ensure that the kids get the best out of their lessons. RAMP Academy (Under Violinist Ms Cindy Yan) offers students and parents more than just music lessons - being part of RAMP family feels like being part of a great community which is so important to help nurture young musicians.
Our 2 girls has been with the RAMP academy since 2020 after 6 years in other Music schools. We are very happy with the violin program in RAMP Academy, wonderful to see their progress and building up on Violin performance on stage.
Beyond all that, the RAMP academy admin and teachers are friendly, approachable and genuinely care about the student’s Music journey. We can’t recommend this school enough!

We enjoy violin lessons with Teacher Ria. What is interesting with her approach is using analogies to make the techniques easier to understand for a young child. She ensures that my child progresses and pays close attention to her areas of growth. Her encouraging tone provides motivation and inspires my daughter to continue to hone her skills.
Teacher Sanwin has been my teacher for 2 years now and I’m really thankful to get to study under his guidance! He’s really experienced ;I’m amazed every time he plays out a passage as a preview before I learn it; and most importantly great in teaching! it’s easy to understand the message he’s trying to get across (I’m an overseas student so I have lessons online) He always helps me with all my questions and concerns.. When I’m doubting myself, he gives me advice I needed to hear, and it gives me encouragement to keep going! I’ve improved alot over such a short time, thanks to my thoughtful teacher and Wolfgang Violin Studio
We feel incredibly lucky to have found such a wonderful violin teacher, Teacher Ria for our son. I signed up for an introductory cello lesson with Music Mood and it was so interesting and fun that I continued with one-to-one lessons after that! My teacher, Ms Wendy, is super nice, encouraging, and very patient (especially with someone like me who has zero musical background). After five lessons, I could already play a song, though not perfect, but a big achievement for me! I really enjoyed the lessons because there was no stress or pressure, and I could learn at my own pace. You also don’t need to own a cello as they can loan you one to bring home for practice. Highly recommend!
Jayden is a great instructor! The lessons are fun and stress free.
The studio has a welcoming atmosphere and the lessons are designed with adult learners in mind. Unlike schools that are very exam-focused, Jayden’s approach makes learning enjoyable and perfect for adults who just want to enjoy playing music, without feeling guilty if I dont practice at home.
The extra perks such as free cello rental, not having to bring an instrument every time, and being able to record lessons, are a huge plus.
I’ve really enjoyed my 5 introductory lessons and would recommend this studio for adults who want to try out cello.
Jayden is one of the best music teachers I have encountered. He is able to diagnose our mistakes and give practical and meaningful solutions. He is able to adapt his teaching methods to suit slower older learners, and addresses the pain points of learning the cello. A wonderful learning experience indeed.
Started with a trial lesson and was instantly hooked! Really enjoyed the teaching style and all the materials they provide - makes learning so much easier. What I love most is being able to learn at my own pace whilst working on personal targets and challenges rather than being rushed through a rigid curriculum.
The location is super convenient too, which is always a bonus when you're trying to fit lessons into a busy schedule.
Massive thanks to Jayden for being so patient and sharing such valuable insights. His teaching approach really clicked with me and I'm excited to continue my cello journey here. Highly recommend giving them a try!
Me and bestie had loads of fun there, the Cello teacher Wendy was very patience in teaching and guiding us how to use the instrument. We had so much laughter. This is very challenging yet super fun, engaging and interesting musical experience! Such a memorable one!❤️ will definitely try again!!

My preparations of ABRSM Violin examinations in LVL Music Academy have been an amazingly successful and enjoyable experience. Since preparing for my Grade 7 Violin performance and Music Theory examinations from 2023 to 2024, I have been working together with passionate and dedicated teachers to aid on my violin techniques, as well as the historical and cultural elements of music. This has allowed me to gain the relevant skills and knowledge to achieve a Merit for both examinations. Additionally, the annual group orchestral performances organised by the school allowed me to have the opportunity to meet with likeminded individuals, as well as to improve my teamwork and leadership skills. These opportunities also enabled me to perform a solo performance which drastically improved my performance and expression on stage. Progressing towards the Grade 8 Violin examination from 2024 to 2025, I have learned more difficult and complex techniques on the violin. Despite the challenges, the patient and understanding teachers have helped me along the journey to improve my hand-eye coordination, dexterity and ability to keep a composed and expressive mind during the performance. Amazingly, I have successfully achieved a Distinction for the examination! I feel extremely delighted and proud of my achievement and would like to express my appreciation and gratitude towards all LVL Teachers and Staff for giving me the determination and confidence to continue on the journey despite setbacks. Overall, LVL Music Academy has given me the best experience of learning the violin in a conducive and supportive environment, and would use the knowledge and skills learnt in the future with the beautiful instrument of the violin. Thank you so much Teachers and Staff!
Bought my first ever handmade violin at LVL Music Academy which is really pretty and it sounds great. During my visit, I was attended by Gavin which is a very friendly guy and are knowledgeable on the instruments. The whole event feels very comfortable and not rushing just to get you to buy the instrument. Im also getting a chance to try other high quality violins even and they all sounds amazing in its unique way. Overall is an amazing experience and hope i had the chance to revisit and upgrade my violin in the future.
I was glad to visit and purchase my violin set from LVL at yuk tong branch, Bt Timah. Miss Janice and Gavin were very helpful in aiding me to select my violin. Looking forward to playing...
Found LVL Music Academy while in the area after seeing all the great reviews, so I brought my old violin for repair. Luthier Mr. Alan was really incredibly patient, attentive, and kind. He explained everything clearly The repair was done beautifully; my violin looks and sounds amazing again after years of neglect. He even took the time to teach me how to tune my violin, which I truly appreciated!
Staff, Cong also attended to me during collection and was very helpful, patiently answering all my questions. Overall, a really pleasant and satisfying experience. I truly appreciate their care and passion. Highly recommend! Thank you! 😁🎻✨
✨ It was my first time attending Baroque and Beyond, and I was truly impressed! The concert showcased so many talented young musicians, and it was inspiring to see their passion and skill on stage. 🎶 A big thank you to LVL Music Academy for nurturing and raising such bright stars in music. 🌟

My girl progress very well with the support of the teacher. Her teacher is very nice, supportive and patient. She is looking forward to attend the piano lesson every week.
My son’s learning the drums here. Miss Yean Her has taken over Teacher Thivagar’s lessons. It wasn’t an easy start, what with my son being an absolute fan of Thivagar, but miss Yean is a wonderful teacher and he has visibly progressed over the last few months under her and also partakes in her recitals.🫶 looks forward to her lessons each week.
My girl has been learning piano and violin classes with Ossia at civic center. Her music teacher Ms Bo is also talented in teaching 2 instruments. We don’t need to attend classes at different timing. Admin staffs are helpful and kind too. Their fees are also reasonable.
Staff are friendly and helpful. My 4year old girl love attending Teacher Siti lesson. She showed more interest in learning and looking forward for every lesson.
Teacher Grace is a thoughtful teacher who pays close attention to how my son plays the piano. Her teachings were interesting and useful, and she was very patient with my son. My son looks forward to his weekly piano lesson with Teacher Grace. I would strongly recommend her to anyone interested in learning to play the piano. The overall experience at Ossia School is also excellent. The administration staff is friendly and helpful in processing payments and scheduling lessons that work for us.

Melody Strings is a very well-run and well-organized music school with a great facility. My son has been learning violin here and is now preparing for his Level 5 exam, right on track with expectations. Teacher D has been exactly the right fit for him — striking the perfect balance between encouragement and raising expectations step by step. He breaks down the technical aspects clearly so my son can progress with confidence, and also makes the lessons enjoyable. Most importantly, my son truly enjoys playing the violin here. In fact I have referred friend’s kid here already. Highly recommend Melody Strings!
We have been with Medoly Strings for 4 years by now, since my girl was 3 years old plus. Teachers here are very patient with young child and very encouraging towards music learning especially earlier teacher Yi Xuan and now teacher Yuki.

How to Choose the Best Violin Option for Your Child
Teacher fit — A warm, patient teacher who knows how to work with children can make lessons enjoyable and keep a beginner engaged.
Teaching approach — Check whether the programme is exam-focused, creative, or performance-centred and pick one that matches your child’s temperament.
Beginner readiness — For young children, ensure lessons cover posture, bow hold, listening, and basic note reading from the start.
Lesson format — One-to-one lessons offer tailored attention, while group classes suit children who thrive on peer interaction.
Starting age — Confirm the minimum recommended age and whether the teaching style suits very young learners.
Progression clarity — Ask how the centre tracks improvement, whether through milestones, performances, graded exams, or teacher feedback.
Performance exposure — Recitals and ensemble work can boost confidence, but they should feel supportive rather than pressurised.
Facilities and environment — A calm, organised studio supports focus, while interactive spaces can help younger learners stay engaged.
Musical goals — Decide if your child is learning for fun, graded exams, DSA pathways, or long-term classical training.
Instrument support — Look for help with choosing, renting, or maintaining the right-sized violin if your child does not yet own one.
Schedule convenience — Consider travel time, home lesson availability, and online options to fit weekly lessons into your family routine.
Price transparency — Check details about trial lessons, lesson duration, theory components, exam prep, and required materials before committing.
Parent involvement — Some programmes need close parental participation for younger children, while others expect students to be more independent.
Personality match — Match the teaching style to your child’s learning style, whether playful and story-driven or structured and focused.
