Choosing among playgroups Singapore parents can consider involves more than finding the nearest available class. The right playgroup should suit your child’s age, temperament, confidence and readiness for accompanied or independent learning. It also helps to compare language exposure, teacher-child ratios, daily routines, play opportunities and communication practices before enrolling. Trial classes or school visits can give a clearer sense of how educators interact with children and support settling-in periods. This guide covers 10 playgroup centres in Singapore, with overviews, Google reviews, locations, prices and contact details to help you find a suitable fit for your child.

I cannot recommend this preschool based on my experience.
Before enrollment, I paid a deposit. Things start to get worse even before my child started when genuine questions raised were left unanswered and subsequently, I gave up. And that was when I started the withdrawing process way before my child had even started attending, I was informed that my request for a full refund had been rejected. I received an email stating that a placement fee (50% of the published monthly school fee before subsidy, plus GST) would be deducted from my deposit.
I believed this was unfair and informed the centre that I was prepared to pursue the matter through the Singapore Small Claims Tribunals.
Only after I had taken steps towards legal action did the centre reverse its position and refund my deposit in full including disbursement of costs. I was particularly surprised that once legal action has started, the school managed to change completely.
It appears the Tribunal process has an impressive ability to clarify refund policies
What disappointed me most was not just the refund dispute, but the amount of unnecessary time and stress involved. Had the matter been handled reasonably from the outset, legal action would never have been necessary.
Moving forward for those parents, you should standup against the enrollment terms, keep all correspondence, and be prepared to fight for your consumer rights if you believe the school have treated unfairly.
Based on this experience, I have lost confidence in the way disputes are handled by the school and cannot recommend this preschool.
We’re so grateful for the wonderful care the infant care team at KiddiWinkie East Coast has given our daughter. The teachers are warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in each child’s development. We always feel reassured knowing she’s in such caring hands. Thank you for creating such a safe, nurturing, and happy environment! we couldn’t recommend the team more highly!
We enrolled our daughter to KiddiWinkie at 4 months, and time flies she’s now going into PG at 18months! Ms Glaiza the principal has led the centre with continuous improvements in the last year, including an alfresco dining area, an infant check in bay separate from older kids, a outdoor garden, improved and safer walkways for children, and an upcoming more welcoming reception area.
Also the curriculum is incredibly well-thought-out, balancing learning through play, as exemplified in the environment - the school features massive outdoor and indoor spaces specifically designed for infants (sensory room), which is so rare and wonderful for their development.
As parents, health and safety are always top of mind, and their strict illness management protocol gives us huge peace of mind.
Above all, the passionate teachers make all the difference. A special shoutout to Ms May, Ms Dernisha, and Janice Laoshi, who shower our daughter with so much love, care, and dedication every single day, and give parents a peace of mind with daily updates and pics above and beyond!
Our daughter really loves going to school and enjoys activities school came up with. Environment and playground are nice and fun. Her K1 teachers are also very supportive and balancing well on both academic and emotional development.
Sprawling premises which are clean, well-maintained and engaging for the children. There’s a sandpit, herb garden, cycling track, tactile/sensory footpath and 2 playgrounds, including one which is designated just for water play.
Lessons are interesting as there is weekly cook & bake, sports sessions conducted by a specialist coach, and water or sand play on alternating weeks. There is also a focus on cultural awareness as the children are taught about a different country (its traditions, food, national icons, costumes) every semester. The school also educates the children about local cultural festivals and will organize special events with parental involvement.
Management (both past and present) have been receptive to parents’ feedback and willing to make changes. The school principal recently changed and we often see the new one engaging with parents at drop-off.
Class sizes are small (up to 14/15 kids) which fosters more conducive learning. The school’s demographic consists of local and international students, which creates a very nice multicultural environment. Teachers are generally young, friendly and positive, and will greet each child by name. My child has adapted well and also become more conversant in Mandarin, thanks to their efforts!

An excellent 3 day swim camp! Facilities were good and the instructor:kid ratio was perfect for good instruction. My son had an enjoyable time making new friends, doing land drills and importantly increasing his swimming exposure! Highly recommended and we will be back!

My daughter just finished the 3-day CNY camp at the Swiss Club, and she had an absolutely wonderful time! This was her second time joining a program organized by The Mindful Camp, highly recommended for any parents looking for a high-quality, engaging camp experience!
This is a great camp. My nine year old son had a really fun week. They have a good base, lots of interesting stuff, they organized a lively program of different activities, and Dini and her colleagues are great camp leaders. Highly recommended. 👍🏻👍🏻
the daily social emotion lessons were very well carried out and benefited my child! in-camp activities were fun, dragon boating and amazing race field trip was awesome and the carnival was a blast!
for the campers coming from strangers to teamwork in a week, it was really the teachers that made the difference!
especially Teacher Hara, Shaheen, and Shafiq, its rare to come by pro active, decisive, impactful and fun educators! the impromptu song performance really moved my heart, thank you!! for watching over the children, the updates and the decisiveness in handling issues, truly appreciate it 🙏🏻
This is our second time joining the camp, and it has been a fantastic experience once again. My kids had so much fun, and always came home excited with new stories.
Big thanks to the River team, Dini, Audrey, and the Mountain team - Sonia, Ana, Charlotte, and Fatin - for creating such a warm, fun, and caring environment. Truly appreciate all the effort and highly recommend!
Truly grateful to the Mindful Camp team for the wonderful resilience camp experience my son had. The administration was exceptionally clear with their instructions and reminders, and the dedicated chat group for daily updates was a huge help for working parents like us. Although my boy has attended various camps before, this was the first time he came home overflowing with happiness every single day throughout the five-day program. He shared stories about how unique, fun, and adventurous the activities were, and it was clear how much he connected with the team. He especially wants to thank all the teachers for giving him what he described as the best experience he’s ever had. If there’s an opportunity, he would absolutely love to join again. This camp truly made a lasting impact.

Beautiful environment and beautiful educators! Thank you for putting us working parents at ease while our kids are under your care. Would recommend to any parents looking for an inclusive environment and dedicated, responsible teachers.
The teachers at HESS are very nurturing & dedicated. Environment is safe & clean. I like that the communication from the school to parents is clear & detailed. Good job!👍🏻
We’re very happy with our experience so far. Our son Niko is 20 months old and he absolutely loves going every day — he’s always happy and excited.
The range of activities is fantastic, and we can really see how much he’s learning and developing. The teachers are caring, attentive, and truly dedicated to the children.
We especially appreciate that he’s also being exposed to Chinese, which we don’t speak at home — it’s amazing to see him picking up new things so naturally.
Thank you for creating such a nurturing and engaging environment!
HESS Preschool has been such a nurturing place for our child. I really appreciate the curriculum – it’s a good mix of inquiry-based learning and workbook-based activities, so the children get to explore, discuss and ask questions while still building a strong foundation in their learning. The teachers are warm, patient and genuinely caring. They put in a lot of effort to guide the children and instill good values in them. It gives me great peace of mind knowing my child is in such a positive and supportive environment.
Choosing a suitable preschool is never easy. When HESS preschool took over the previous school operator, we were apprehensive but taking that leap of faith has been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our child.
A few months in, the biggest reassurance for us was simple — our child wakes up excited for school. There is genuine eagerness and happiness every morning, and that speaks volumes. She comes home sharing stories about her teachers, her projects, and what she discovered that day. School is not just a routine for her; it’s a place she truly loves.
What stands out most is the passion and commitment of the teachers. They go far beyond just delivering the programme. They are deeply invested in each child’s growth — emotionally, and socially. They take time to guide, encourage and nurture confidence. We see strong emphasis on character development and moral values alongside academic excellence, which gives us great peace of mind as parents.
The school operator too, is deeply involved in the entire planning and execution. It is evident when they go the extra miles to discuss with us parents the design and materials of the school uniform, that we are all aligned in striving the best for our kids, even in the finest details.
The curriculum is comprehensive and thoughtfully balanced. From arts and music to science exploration and engaging thematic learning, every week feels purposeful and enriching. The activities spark curiosity and creativity, while also building strong foundational skills. We’ve seen our child grow into a more confident and curious learner.
We are truly relieved that we chose to trust HESS Preschool. It may have been an unknown brand to us at the start, but it has exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended to any parent looking for a nurturing, balanced and inspiring preschool.

I enrolled my child at Little Forest late last year, and we’ve been with the school for close to six months now. Overall, our experience has been very positive—my child genuinely enjoys every session, thanks to the engaging teaching by Liu Laoshi and Teacher Claid. That said, there are a few areas of concern. The recent move to Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre has been a drawback for us. While the space features clear glass windows, this raises privacy and safety concerns, especially given its location next to a pub, making it feel less appropriate despite the premium fees. Additionally, the class duration has been shortened while fees remain unchanged, and some components—such as an extra arts and crafts activity—have been removed. Classes are now combined across a wide age range (8 months to 3 years), which makes it challenging to cater effectively to different developmental needs. It’s difficult to see infants and older toddlers learning the same material, and this has led to teachers understandably focusing more on the younger children. On a few occasions, my child also tried to engage the teachers—calling out to them and attempting to strike up a conversation—but was overlooked as the teachers were occupied attending to younger toddlers and infants. It was disheartening to see my child’s disappointment in those moments. For these reasons, I’ve decided to discontinue my child’s enrollment. I would encourage the management to consider reinstating more age-specific classes and ensuring balanced attention across all children to better support their development.
My son loved going to this school. Ms. Claid and Liu Laoshi were attentive to every student and always prepared a variety of enjoyable activities. However, I hope they will offer longer hours for parent-accompanied classes so that children can have more interaction with each other.
Actually have nothing but good things to say about LF and Liu Laoshi in particular. We love the mix of fitness, arts, snacks and music each class, really well suited to those who are
My son has joined the Mini Mandarin class at Little Forest with teacher Ms May since he was 7 months old. He really enjoys the class and the play area (he always wants to play extra 30min after every class). Ms May is very attentive to every little one in the class. Especially she's very interactive to encourage them to get engaged in each session from warm up, story telling, arts... I love the way Ms May is very close to little ones and make them comfortable to explore and engage during classes. Sometimes my husband and I also ask lots of parenthood questions (we're first time parents) and Ms May is always willing to share her own experiences and give us the best advice which we really appreciate.
We started our son on Mini Mandarin classes from about 14m of age. Best decision ever. Till today, even after graduating from the program, he still sings the songs! He has picked up basic words and actions in Mandarin from the teacher. Miss May is very diligent and cares so much for the students. It’s a pity that we can no longer attend as he has started preschool. The lessons are well planned with sensory play included. It was also a good way to get him used to a school setting. Highly recommend. Thank you Little Forest!

Our kid has been at this kindergarten for almost a year, and we’re so glad we chose it. At first there was a bit of separation anxiety, but now they’re always excited to go every morning. The teachers are super caring and patient, and the environment feels really warm. We can see our child becoming more confident, independent, and caring — it really feels like a second home for them.
My 2 sons are with etonhouse newton on the mandarin immersion programme. They love going to school and they can speak mandarin quite well. The teachers are all very professional, friendly and bubbly. Happy experience
The school has a warm and inviting atmosphere with an expansive outdoor area - big plus point ! The teachers and staff in Etonhouse Newton are nurturing, kind and approachable. That definitely shows in how the children are settled, always cheerful & engaged! Thank you for the wonderful experience
We have had a truly wonderful experience at EtonHouse Newton. The school provides a nurturing and encouraging environment where children feel seen, heard, and loved.
We are deeply grateful to the dedicated teachers and community for the care, guidance, and warmth they show every day. Thank you for shaping happy little humans 💛
My experience with EtonHouse Newton has been nothing short of positive. The space felt calm, welcoming, and thoughtfully put together.
Nothing seemed without intention—which reflects the school’s commitment to the IB curriculum, not just in theory but in how it shapes daily interactions and learning experiences.
The classrooms were among my favourite parts of the school. Each had its own style, highlighting the individuality of both teachers and children—something I wish I had experienced more of growing up.
Altogether, it left me with the impression of a place that truly values not just how children learn, but how they feel while learning. I’d highly recommend dropping by, you’ll meet some of the kindest people I’ve ever come across.

There are too many amazing things for me to say about this place for one post. I loved every moment of our makers experience. I lamented when it was time to send my oldest to primary school, and I have been very eager to send my younger daughter here when she’s ready. The owners and the teachers are what make this place shine. The space is humble in size but every square inch is thoughtfully curated for play. They are gentle while still helping the child understand healthy expectations and boundaries. They prioritize play and good books. They never push learning - they just help it happen in the kids’ own way. Love it! Love them! Cannot wait for my number two to enjoy the makers and their space!
My daughter has attended Plain as Play on and off since early 2023, and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Amelia, Aisyah and Cam have always been so very welcoming and helped my daughter feel special and treasured. The workshops are incredible and so well thought out. It’s clear to see their early education backgrounds. Each workshop is so fun and engaging. I love to see photos of my daughter’s visits and little updates throughout her stay. It really helps me to visualise what she has been doing and talk about her day with her afterwards. My favourite memory was right after my daughter first started, shortly before she turned two. We walked and she spotted a moth. She explained to me how it was camouflaged and all about its life cycle. She had been completing a bug theme at Plain as Play and loved telling me everything she learned. If you are undecided, I would suggest giving a trial go. You will be so impressed by the space and the people, and there is no harm getting a quick coffee in for yourself while your child plays! I will be sending my youngest just as soon as he is old enough.
ADDITION: I did end up sending my son to Plain As Play when he was old enough, and indeed for as long as I could before we left town. Both my children have begged to come back again and again and have always come out with smiles and happy stories. Truly the best discovery we made in the East Coast. Thank you to you all, you have brightened our time in Singapore.
Couldn’t recommend any other happy place for your kids, be it for thoughtfully curated playgroups/play sessions/camps/ birthday events. My daughter has been going since she was 18th months (drop off) and is still going more than 3 years later. One of a kind in Singapore, and truly a gem, led by a smart, creative, respectful and caring team!
My 3 year old son attended play sessions here. The place is beautifully curated with books, toys and play stations. My son always enjoyed his sessions. The educators are qualified and highly skilled. They were very good at settling my son at each session and provided photo updates of his progress. This is a fantastic place for parents needing some much needed respite whilst knowing their children are safe and having fun. Thanks!
The space is beautifully done up and very well thought through. There’s a good variety of building toys, sensory play and just empty space to run around - my toddler was thoroughly engaged for a good two hours! Aisyah and Amelia are confident and friendly, and the kids warmed up to them instantly. 10/10 would recommend, and would send my kid back again!

The school’s admin can be improved, but nevertheless it has been a great journey. I recommend the program to any kid who would like to learn reading in a fun environment!
We’ve had a positive experience with the GUG enrichment program – Book + Pen Master. Teacher Ria has been incredibly patient and dedicated to my daughter’s progress. After a year, we’ve seen her confidence and ability in reading English improve. We’re very happy with the program and will be enrolling our son as well. The only area for improvement would be on the admin side, as updates can sometimes be a little slow or lacking — but overall, we’re very happy with the program.
Our 5 years (and counting) experience with GUG has been amazing so far. The principal and teachers have been extremely passionate about their work, always going above and beyond. They never fail to provide an update or answer any queries you may have regarding your child in school which helps to put our hearts at ease.
What sets GUG apart from the other preschools is their solid and holistic curriculum that covers everything from literacy to music, cookery etc. It not only focuses on literacy skills, but also on building their cognitive and gross motor skills. School is fun and my children look forward to going to school everyday. GUG has prepared my elder son (currently in P1) extremely well both academically and socially. He’s able to read and write confidently with the good foundation built in GUG.
I’m glad to have found a school that provides a wonderful and safe learning environment for my children. Looking forward to a few more great years for our younger child at GUG!
We’ve had a wonderful experience with GUG Preschool! The teachers have always been incredibly passionate and genuinely care about the children's well-being and overall development. It’s heartwarming to see how they prioritize not just academics, but also social and emotional growth.
The centre consistently maintains top-notch cleanliness, giving us peace of mind as parents, especially in today’s health-conscious environment.
What truly stands out is their comprehensive curriculum. My elder child graduated from GUG and transitioned smoothly into Primary 1 — coping confidently, both academically and socially — a testament to the strong foundation built here.
If you’re exploring preschools, I highly recommend GUG for their uniqueness, quality of care, and dedication to nurturing young minds.
