Introduction

A punch needling workshop for kids gives children a tactile way to explore colour, texture and pattern while making something they can proudly bring home. When choosing a punch needling workshop in Singapore, parents can check age requirements, session length, materials, supervision and the guidance provided. Some studios run beginner punch needle sessions, while others include the craft within broader fibre-art programmes, camps or private group activities. Consider whether your child would enjoy a structured lesson, an open-ended project or a shared session with an adult. This guide compares 10 punch needling workshops for kids in Singapore, with business overviews, Google reviews, locations, prices and contact details.

Memo Art house really gives us customers a very homely feeling. They are always ready to help and assist anytime. There are many yarns available in the store and of good quality. I have been buying from them both online and at the physical shop from 2 years ago. Their delivery is fast and their staff are knowledgeable about yarns. They have many projects that is showcase in their store especially amigurumis. Recently they have included beading crafts and charms. I like that they have some of the best crochets hooks ready and available in stock. Their yarns are also very affordable; they also organized classes for all ages. Like what Chinese say 麻雀虽小五脏俱全。

Memo Art House is a fantastic spot for beginners in crocheting! They offer a wide variety of yarns at very affordable prices, making it an ideal place to stock up on supplies. The cashier is incredibly friendly and helpful, adding a warm touch to the shopping experience. The shop itself is clean, cozy, and well-organized, with price labels that are clear and easy to read. It’s such a pleasant environment to browse and shop.
My wish is for them to open a branch in the east, so it would be even more convenient for those living there!

Hi! We had a fantastic time at Hueplay Studio as a birthday celebration~

My husband and I did the 50x50 rug turfing while my mum did the punch needling and both took around 2h to complete. We had a great time picking out colors together (btw wide range of colors!!) and deciding on a design etc so the rug feels like something of our own after we completed! Price super reasonable as well 👍🏻

S/O to the laoban niang for being so friendly and approachable, it made the experience extra delightful! My mom really enjoyed the conversations with her since she enjoys arts and crafts~

Staff was patient with me. It was fortunate that I had another customer that did not mind weaving for me. I suffer from a herniated disc in my lower back and have stiff neck and shoulders. I was encouraged to do it slowly and take my time to walk around and relax. After one and the half hours of work, the other customer and staff took over the weaving. My mind refused to continue with the repetitive action as the body was protesting. The end product was so beautiful and the material was comfortable on the skin too. She passed me a small bottle of soap and patiently taught me how to wash the scarf at home.

Came in to ask questions about spinning, hui lian was soooooo patient at answering my one million and one questions and offered super helpful advice on a myriad of topics. Hope to be back again for a workshop soon !!!
We did the book binding class. It was both fun and educational. Our teacher was AMAZING. We left knowing we could do it gain on our own because we now understood the purpose of each step. Absolutely amazing “vibe” — relaxed, friendly and accepting. We will go back for more classes. Also great fiber supplies — we bought some sashiko supplies and our teacher explained how to get started!

We had such a fun and memorable experience at WeTuft! The studio is bright, clean, and welcoming, and the staff were patient, encouraging, and super helpful throughout the process. Even as a beginner, the guidance made it easy and enjoyable to create my own tufted piece. The range of yarn colors and design options was amazing, which made the whole experience very personalized. A perfect activity for bonding with family and friends, or even a solo creative day. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and hands-on experience!

They also have fun extras like a foosball table, air hockey, and a claw machine, which kept my son happily entertained with the other kids while I enjoyed some quiet time to focus on tufting.

Drinks are available for purchase on-site, so there’s no need to step out, and there are plenty of eateries nearby if you’re looking for a meal. There’s a few galleries which you could pop by if you have extra time to roam about.

Overall, it’s a wonderful spot to spend the day at Gillman Barracks with family and friends!

Hubby and I signed up for this workshop.

The staff will send you some pattern options the day before, but you can also submit your own custom design. They will assess whether it’s suitable for beginners.

On the day of the workshop, you arrive at 10 AM. The staff will take attendance, and participants can select their preferred thread colors. The workshop officially starts at 10:30 AM, but due to some latecomers, it began a little later.

The staff had pre-sketched the selected design onto the canvas. At the beginning of the session, they gave a brief introduction to the basic operations and did a simple demonstration. There were about four staff members assisting participants. However, since they couldn’t attend to everyone at the same time, participants had to actively request guidance if needed.

Personally, I found the tufting gun quite difficult to handle. The wireless cord kept coming loose, which was frustrating. Since it was my first time, I struggled due to my lack of experience. I may have applied too much pressure or punched too frequently, causing my canvas to tear. In contrast, hubby’s piece turned out perfectly. When I asked him how he managed, he said he experimented with different methods to figure out the technique.

If your canvas gets damaged and you’re unable to complete your design, you have the option to pay an additional $20 for the staff to finish it for you.

The staff mentioned that the final product would be ready for collection in 8 to 10 weeks. However, online reviews suggest that many participants had to wait up to three months, so be prepared for a long waiting time.

Overall, it was a fresh and interesting experience, making it a fun weekend activity for couples or families.

However, there were some downsides:
• The staff’s explanations were not very comprehensive. They didn’t properly cover key points such as the pressure needed when using the tufting gun, the spacing of the stitches, or how to prevent canvas damage.
• The air conditioning was insufficient, and the space felt cramped.
• The workshop lasted 2.5 hours, but for those who struggled with the technique (like me), it was difficult to complete the piece within the allotted time.

Location & Availability

Classes are available at 22 Lock Road, #01-33, Gillman Barracks, Singapore 108939.

Had a great introductory session using watercolour, our instructor Ashley was very patient and concise in her explanation. She coached us and gave us valuable demos without spoon-feeding us. ☻

Good quality art supplies were provided (even an ipad for image reference) in this nice beautiful art space.

It was a relaxing session for us and great that we could use our culture pass credits. Interested to try the tingkat painting & art jamming next round.

Tried palette knife painting for the first time, together with my husband. It was a very fun experience. Thank you to Sage Artelier at Sin Ming for having us, giving us so much space, time and patience while we explore ourselves with self expression and creativity. The teachers were very friendly and helpful, giving you just enough tips and confidence to wing it and go with whatever feels right.

Chanced upon this clay art session with Sage Artelier through Seek Sophie's website. My daughter wanted to do pottery art and hence I searched through google for such workshops that are suitable for kids. Though this clay workshop does not involve a wheel spinner, I think my daugher still enjoyed the craft session. Art space was lovely and cosy. Facilitator Ashley was so patient with my daughter. She guided and assisted her very well throughout. Appreciate the attention dedicated to young kids like my daughter. The art space was lively with children celebrating birthday through art jamming and other students doing their individual art pieces. All the best and keep up the amazing service and dedication!

Had a leisurely 2 hour glass painting session at Sage Artelier. The staff, Ashley, was very helpful, cheery and patient.

They helped with some of the more complicated techniques and touched up the artwork at the end - although I’m sure that’s subject to the crowdedness.

The atmosphere was great with the soft background music as well. Would recommend!

10. With Autumn

Overview of the Business

With Autumn is a textile-art education studio led by textile artist and educator Autumn Brown. Its beginner-friendly, hands-on programmes cover natural dyeing, printing, weaving, crochet, needle felting and punch needle. Learning is practical and material-led, allowing participants to work directly with fibres, yarns, dyes and textile tools. Several workshops provide completed pieces, samples, materials or starter kits so participants can continue making at home. Selected sessions welcome children with a participating adult, although age suitability varies by programme. Classes are intentionally small where capacities are specified. Private workshops, corporate experiences and textile retreats extend the studio’s work beyond its regular Singapore sessions.

Why Parents Choose With Autumn

  • Textile artist and educator Autumn Brown leads the studio’s programmes.
  • Many workshops welcome beginners and provide specified materials for learning.
  • Small-group formats allow closer guidance during detailed textile processes.
  • The private studio is also Autumn Brown’s daily creative workspace.
  • Long-term maker relationships reflect attention to social and environmental wellbeing.
  • Corporate sessions can adapt to different venues, goals and headcounts.
  • Textile activities produce practical samples, projects or take-home resources.

So much knowledge gained in the most relaxing, gorgeous environment. Thank you to Autumn, KL (+all the staff) for such a beautiful experience 🫶

I had such a nourishing time at the natural dyes of asia retreat. Each day was filled with hands-on learning during the workshops that was so much fun and also very informative. I loved the carefree connection and laughter shared with Autumn and my classmates throughout the six days, they made the retreat very meaningful and memorable. To top it off, the food that was served at sukasantai farmstay was very delicious and lovingly prepared by their wonderful staff. Overall I felt very safe and assured to just rest and unwind! Highly recommend a retreat with Autumn if you’re looking to immerse yourself in craft, natural colours and community.

The natural dye Asia retreat held at Sukasantai Farm, taught by Autumn, had been an awesome experience! Things I enjoyed included the tasty meals prepared with the freshly harvested ingredients; fun and creative craft workshops; manja cats around the farm; the big farm with lots of veges and flowers; meeting friendly and like minded crafters; and of course the best dyeing sessions conducted by Autumn! Everything is simply amazing and I wish to return for this dyeing retreat again! Thumbs up!

I had an unforgettable experience at the Natural Dyes of Asia Retreat 2025, where Autumn curated a line up of interesting hands-on, artistic, textile-related activities led by herself and guest teachers, at Sukasantai Farmstay. During the course, Autumn showed she has a thorough grasp on the topic of creating natural dyes from plant materials (some freshly harvested at the farm), preparing textiles for dyeing, to the actual dyeing itself. She was patient and also humorous in her approach to teaching so there was never a dull moment. I would highly recommend this retreat as well as other workshops with Autumn.

I’ve attended so many of Autumn’s workshop- I’ve lost count! I’ve enjoyed needle-punching, rug tufting and even a full four day workshop of dying yarns with naturally derived colours!
We learnt about the basics of indigo dyeing and tie dyeing, given time to experiment and making unique pieces

It’s always been a fun time learning new things with the ever-patient Autumn, and the atmosphere is always wonderful. I’ve made new crafty friends through her group workshops and have also attended hen parties and birthdays here. Clearly my friends can’t get enough, either!

There’s always something new to learn with Autumn.

Location & Availability

Workshops are available by appointment at 111 King George’s Avenue, near Lavender MRT.

Price Range

The Punch Needle Workshop costs S$150. Other listed Singapore workshops range from S$150 to S$900, depending on duration, materials and group format.

How to Choose the Best Punch Needling Class for Your Child

  • Age suitability: Confirm the stated minimum age and whether younger children must attend with a participating adult.
  • Instructor experience: Ask about experience teaching fibre crafts and guiding children through detailed, repetitive hand movements.
  • Beginner support: Check whether instruction covers tool handling, fabric preparation, stitch spacing and correcting common mistakes.
  • Teaching style: Consider whether your child prefers structured demonstrations, guided personal projects or greater freedom to experiment.
  • Class size: Smaller groups can give hesitant beginners more opportunities to ask questions and receive timely help.
  • Tool safety: Ask how instructors introduce punch needles, supervise their use and manage sharp tools between activities.
  • Material quality: Check which cloth, yarn, hoops, frames and punch needles are included within the workshop fee.
  • Project scope: Compare whether children make coasters, wall décor, pouches or another project matching their interests.
  • Session length: Choose a duration that suits your child’s concentration, patience and comfort with sustained handwork.
  • Creative choice: Look for suitable opportunities to select colours, patterns and textures without losing essential technical guidance.
  • Take-home outcome: Confirm whether the child completes the project during class or needs finishing work after collection.
  • Studio environment: Consider seating, lighting, ventilation and whether the workspace feels comfortable for focused textile work.
  • Progress options: Ask whether learners can return for harder designs, larger pieces or related textile-art workshops later.
  • Schedule access: Compare workshop dates, MRT access, parking and rescheduling terms against your family’s weekly commitments.
  • Fee clarity: Check whether listed prices cover materials, equipment, extensions, registration charges and any project finishing services.

It has truly been a blessing to find Mr. Tan Tiam Teng as my son’s Chinese tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated—qualities that have made a huge difference in my son’s learning journey. My Primary 4 son has shown remarkable improvement in his Chinese since starting lessons, and we are so grateful for the progress.

Beyond the academic results, Mr. Tan’s teaching style has built my son’s confidence and interest in the subject. He is punctual, pleasant disposition and understands what a child needs. The entire experience with Mind Flex has also been very pleasant, professional, and supportive.

Friendly, pleasant, swift, helpful and most importantly not pushy
