Free Request For Tuition

Moving into Secondary 1 History can unsettle children who previously associated the subject mainly with remembering dates and events. They must now interpret sources, recognise context, compare perspectives and express reasoned conclusions under time pressure. This guide to the Top 10 Secondary 1 History Tuition Centres in Singapore helps parents compare specialist classes, broader humanities programmes, online coaching and individual home tuition. Each option is considered through concerns that matter at this stage, including source-based question skills, writing feedback, class size, lesson access and fees. The right support may help a child understand why an answer is incomplete, rather than simply asking them to memorise more notes. Parents can then choose Secondary 1 tuition that fits their child’s present gaps, temperament and weekly school routine.

Key Takeaways

  • Strong Secondary 1 History tuition should teach source interpretation, contextual reasoning and structured writing, rather than relying mainly on content memorisation.
  • Class size and feedback matter because children often need their written reasoning corrected before weak source-based question habits become firmly established.
  • Compare specialist History tuition, broader humanities classes and one-to-one support against your child’s confidence, schedule, learning gaps and preferred lesson format.

MindFlex – Your Best Platform for Secondary 1 History Home Tuition

Overview of Business

MindFlex Tuition Agency connects Singapore families with private tutors who can provide personalised Secondary 1 History tuition at home or online. Rather than following one fixed classroom programme, they match each child according to syllabus needs, learning pace, location, timetable, budget and preferred tutor background. A History tutor may revisit unfamiliar content, model source interpretation and show how evidence supports a clear written inference. Lessons can also follow current school chapters, upcoming weighted assessments and mistakes found in the child’s own work. This individual format may suit children who stay quiet in larger classes or need explanations repeated without feeling rushed. With more than 50,000 active tutors in its network, MindFlex gives parents room to compare suitable profiles instead of conducting the search alone.

Why Parents Choose MindFlex?

Parents may choose MindFlex when their child needs highly specific help rather than another standard Secondary 1 tuition class. The free matching service can identify tutors suited to the family’s schedule, budget and expectations, while coordinators remain available seven days a week. One-to-one support also allows a tutor to spend longer correcting vague inferences, unsupported claims or poorly organised History responses. Home and online arrangements may reduce travel pressure for children balancing new secondary school routines, CCA commitments and heavier homework.

It has truly been a blessing to find Mr. Tan Tiam Teng as my son’s Chinese tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated—qualities that have made a huge difference in my son’s learning journey. My Primary 4 son has shown remarkable improvement in his Chinese since starting lessons, and we are so grateful for the progress.

Beyond the academic results, Mr. Tan’s teaching style has built my son’s confidence and interest in the subject. He is punctual, pleasant disposition and understands what a child needs. The entire experience with Mind Flex has also been very pleasant, professional, and supportive.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tutor who genuinely cares and delivers excellent results

Friendly, pleasant, swift, helpful and most importantly not pushy

Beyond personalised home tuition, parents may prefer a regular group programme with a shared curriculum and peer discussion. MindFlex has gathered details on the ten Secondary 1 History tuition centres below, alongside current Google review placeholders where available, so families can compare teaching focus, access, fees and support more comfortably.

1. Herzen

Overview of Business

Herzen is a History-specialist tuition option offering online lower secondary History classes, including support relevant to children beginning Secondary 1. Its approach prioritises the thoughtful use of selected key content, rather than asking learners to memorise whole textbooks without understanding how to apply the material. Lessons develop source-based question analysis, critical evaluation, concise writing and the transfer of factual knowledge into reasoned answers. Real-time writing and corrections allow tutors to identify unsupported inferences or unclear explanations while the child’s thinking is still visible. Lower secondary lessons are taught by Steve Chang, whose stated focus includes source interpretation, critical thinking and individual feedback. Classes are kept to no more than five or six learners, depending on the programme, which may give quieter children more chances to ask questions and explain their reasoning.

Why Parents Choose Herzen?

Parents may consider Herzen if they want a focused secondary History tuition centre rather than a broad multi-subject operation. Small online classes can provide closer correction for children who understand the chapter but struggle to turn their ideas into clear source-based answers. Collaborative work and tutor questioning may also suit learners who need to develop their reasoning instead of receiving model responses straight away. A free 30-minute individual trial gives families an opportunity to discuss paper weaknesses, learning style and expectations before committing.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary History (Sec 1-5)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Tutors teach selected content deeply, helping children reuse relevant knowledge across differently phrased History questions.
  • Real-time writing and corrections expose reasoning gaps before vague or unsupported answer habits become difficult to change.
  • Source-based question practice develops interpretation and evaluation, rather than rewarding simple extraction of visible details.
  • Small online groups support individual feedback, which may encourage quieter children to test explanations without classroom pressure.
  • Collaborative Google Slides activities reveal thought processes, helping tutors guide reasoning instead of simply supplying answers.

Location and Availability

All classes are conducted online through collaborative lesson tools, allowing Secondary 1 children to learn from home without adding regular travel to their school week.

Price Range

Lower secondary History lessons cost $50 per hour and usually last two hours. A free 30-minute individual trial lesson is also available.

2. The Urban Historian

Overview of Business

The Urban Historian provides live online small-group tuition designed specifically for Singapore secondary History and Social Studies learners. Its Secondary 1 History programme combines weekly teacher-led lessons with structured notes, visual explanations, model answers and syllabus-aligned examination practice. Story-based instruction may make unfamiliar societies and events easier to follow, while step-by-step structures introduce source-based questions without assuming that children have already mastered them. The programme is led by a former MOE Humanities Head of Department with 20 years of teaching experience. Children can receive regular practice and personalised feedback during lessons, rather than revising independently until a school assessment reveals their misunderstandings. Families wanting supplementary self-paced work can also consider Urban Academy resources, although the live class is likely to suit children who need direct questioning, patient explanation and regular accountability.

Why Parents Choose The Urban Historian?

Parents often shortlist The Urban Historian because Secondary 1 History is offered as a clearly defined programme, rather than being folded into a general humanities class. Live screen-shared examples and annotated sources may help children see how a teacher extracts evidence and builds a supported inference. The online format saves travelling time while preserving weekly teacher contact and opportunities to ask questions. Its combination of story-based content teaching and structured source skills may appeal to children who find textbook chapters dense or disconnected.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary History (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Sec 3-4)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Story-based explanations and strong visuals make unfamiliar historical developments more coherent for new Secondary 1 learners.
  • Step-by-step source structures help children support inferences with evidence instead of paraphrasing sources without analysis.
  • Model answers and worked examples clarify expected response depth, reducing uncertainty about what school questions require.
  • Regular online practice receives personalised feedback, allowing recurring interpretation and writing weaknesses to be addressed promptly.
  • Small-group discussion gives children direct teacher access while retaining useful exposure to classmates’ alternative perspectives.

Location and Availability

Live weekly classes run online on weekday evenings, while self-paced Urban Academy History resources can be accessed independently from home at convenient times.

Price Range

Urban Academy self-paced secondary History access costs $38 monthly and includes three free days. Parents should enquire directly about live Secondary 1 tuition rates.

3. Zenith Education Studio

Overview of Business

Zenith Education Studio offers group tuition across numerous Singapore locations, with Humanities provision covering upper secondary History, Literature and Social Studies. Its published secondary programmes emphasise a Learn-Understand-Apply sequence, critical-thinking exercises, curated questions and discussion-based lessons. Although the supported History offering is for upper secondary rather than a dedicated Secondary 1 class, its broader teaching model may interest parents planning for continuity into later examination years. Materials can include structured notes, model answers, past papers and revision guides, with consultations and online assistance extending support beyond class. Zenith reports serving more than 20,000 learners since 2019 and offers free trial classes where places are available. Parents should confirm whether a suitable lower secondary History arrangement currently runs before treating it as a direct Secondary 1 tuition option.

Why Parents Choose Zenith Education Studio?

Parents may consider Zenith Education Studio when they value accessible branches, structured resources and support outside scheduled lessons. Discussion-based teaching could suit a child who learns History by comparing interpretations aloud, rather than silently memorising prepared notes. Consultations may also help address individual writing weaknesses within a group tuition model. However, families searching specifically for Secondary 1 History tuition should verify the programme fit, because the clearly supported History classes focus on upper secondary Pure and Combined Humanities pathways.

If you asked me what it means to be a bubbly, food loving critic that is competent and skilled in teaching Chemistry, there’s only one name that comes to mind. OSN - Ong Shi Neng ☃️

Since the first lesson he has been relentless in ensuring quality education, good eats and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Chemistry in Zenith for the past 1.5 years have truly been like no other. The teachers are caring and helpful, reassuring us that we are prepared, organising 24 hour zooms the night before, just so we can feel a bit more secure the day before the exam. I attended Chenfang's E-Math classes from Sec 3 to 4 and it really was an amazing experience to be learning with her!

In Sec 4, I jumped from a C6 for Prelims to a B3 for O's, something I thought I wouldn't be able to achieve. Chenfang helped me to understand what my weak points were through weekly assessments and so I improved steadily. Her classes are also really fun since she makes sure that we are not just studying but enjoying the process!
The worksheets at Zenith also helped a lot as there were many diverse types of questions that helped with gradual and thorough understanding, with extras for practice at home! The snacks were also a real help for staying focused in class 🙂

I joined Nick's class in sec 3 for physics and he has helped me get good grades for physics throughout my upper sec and eventually get a1 for o levels. Without Nick I do not think I would have achieved such a good score. He is a very good teacher and makes lessons feel fun and explains concepts very well, I have not been lost or confused once in his lessons throughout my two years with him. I look forward to his classes every week and he made me fall in love with physics.😍😍 He also helps me with physics questions outside of lesson time when I whatsapp him especially when I was preparing for my exams.👍👍👍

I attended Nicholas Koh’s classes when I realised I was failing Chemistry and Physics in my Sec 3 WA2s. He helped pull my grades up from an F9 to an A2 for my O Levels! I truly appreciate his help so much. He is understanding, yet he also challenges me and strongly believes in my potential. His lessons are unlike those of other tutors who simply spoon-feed information instead, he makes sure new concepts are thoroughly drilled into your head so you truly understand them. Shi Neng chemistry class is so good. Like everyone around me keeps saying chemistry is so hard and honestly I did find Chem hard before joining zenith Chem. However, after I went for June trial for energetics I realised how simple Chem is. Especially he helped me so much in organiche Chem by covering all the foundations and the small tiny details! 4. Humanities Club

Overview of the Business

Humanities Club is a Bukit Timah tuition centre specialising in Humanities subjects, including History for secondary students preparing for the GCE N Level and O Level examinations. Its teachers are NUS Arts and Social Sciences graduates with NIE qualifications, including PGDE and Masters of Education credentials. The team also includes former MOE school teachers with substantial classroom experience. For parents comparing Secondary 1 History tuition centres in Singapore, this focused approach may suit children who need firmer foundations before upper secondary examination demands increase. Families should, however, check whether the current History timetable includes a dedicated Secondary 1 class, since the programme description mainly covers GCE preparation. Onsite, online and hybrid lesson formats may make scheduling easier for children balancing tuition with schoolwork, CCAs and travel time.

Why Parents Choose Humanities Club?

Parents may consider Humanities Club if their child tends to memorise History content but struggles to construct a clear, well-supported answer. Its focus on content mastery, answering techniques and individual learning weaknesses may help children build useful habits before examination pressure increases. Former MOE teachers may also be familiar with school expectations and the mistakes students commonly make in Humanities responses. Testimonials mention O Level results and improvements, though individual experiences cannot guarantee the same outcome for every child. Parents seeking Secondary 1 History tuition should confirm class availability and whether the lesson materials align with their child’s school syllabus.

Recently my son have received his O level results, he is very grateful that his Hum/Geo got B3 which is over his expectation. He has been struggling for this subject since in his Sec 4NA and going to 5NA.

His result for this subject is always at the range of C5 to C6. However, after sending my son to Humanities Club to provide more help, he actually improve a lot. He mentioned the ways the tutor, Mr Joshua teaches are very interesting and able to engage him to understand the topics easier. He really shows his professionlism towards his teaching and wanting his students to improve and achieve better grade.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the guidances and patiences. I strongly recommand parents to sent their child to Humanities Club for help before it is too late.

5. SG Educators

Overview of the Business

SG Educators offers secondary 1 History tuition through its lower secondary Humanities programme, which covers History and Geography for secondary 1 and secondary 2 children. Lessons work on organised notes, historical reading, source analysis and structured writing, all of which may feel unfamiliar after Primary School. Weekly classes pair teacher-led explanations with guided question practice, while revision sessions include quizzes and mock tests. With an average of five children per class, tutors can spot misconceptions and weak writing habits that might go unnoticed in a larger group. Tutor Justin Ng is an NUS Economics graduate with eight years of teaching experience, specialising in secondary English, Humanities and A Level History. Families may choose online or on-site lessons when schoolwork, CCAs or travelling time make a fixed routine harder to manage.

Why Parents Choose SG Educators

Parents may consider SG Educators when their child needs closer guidance with interpreting History sources and explaining conclusions, rather than simply memorising notes. Classes average five children, so quieter learners may have more opportunities to ask questions and correct incomplete reasoning. Organised notes and guided writing practice can support children adjusting to the heavier reading and evidence-based demands of secondary 1 History. Progress reports and tutor consultations may help parents identify content gaps, weak analysis or rushed answers, while mock tests offer focused practice under timed conditions.

Student Feedback:
I joined SG Educators under the guidance of Justin for A Levels H2 History, and it has been an invaluable experience despite attending only around 7–8 lessons. Before enrolling, I struggled with essays, SBQs, content retention, and overall motivation. Justin’s lessons provided the structure and clarity I needed to regain confidence in the subject. Justin’s guidance played a crucial role in strengthening my understanding and approach to H2 History. I would highly recommend him to any student looking for a well-structured and supportive environment for the subject. His teaching style is concise, systematic, and highly effective. The resources provided were succinct, easy to understand, and extremely useful for exam preparation. Even within a short span of lessons, I saw significant improvements in my confidence, clarity of thought, writing speed, and exam technique.

Parent Feedback:
Justin is an educator with his student's interest at heart. We got in touch with him at the 11th hour and he patiently listened to our concerns, evaluated our child's areas needing improvements and provided us an honest feedback. He decided to tutor her on a realistic timeline. He is extremely efficient, helpful and full of integrity. He was readily available to answer queries and was extremely prompt in his replies to both parents and our child. He is a professional and an expert in the subject. We had developed complete trust in his teaching style immediately. Justin is a highly motivated and proactive tutor who can be understanding yet firm. We would highly recommend Justin to parents and students.

Jonathan is an amazing tutor who has helped guide me through the MYP and IB Diploma program. He explains difficult concepts in a clear, manageable, step-by-step way which allows me to easily grasp complex topics in math. What made the biggest difference was the way Jonathan focused on explaining the logic behind each mathematical concept, rather than just having me memorize steps to solve. This approach allowed me to quickly build a strong foundation in math and encouraged me to critically think through every future problem I encountered. As a result, I became much more confident when tackling difficult exam questions on my own, since I had the tools to work through them logically. Thanks to his guidance, math has gone from being one of my weakest subjects to my strongest, something I never thought was possible when I first started. I obtained a Level 7 in Math AA SL.

Subjects Offered

  • Structured writing exercises may develop complete explanations instead of brief, unsupported answers in History assessments.

6. Ancourage Academy

Overview of Business

Ancourage Academy is an MOE-registered learning organisation established in 2024, with Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 History available upon request. Academic classes generally contain three to six learners, while branch information indicates that many groups operate with three or four children in practice. Its ESB methodology blends spaced recall, Socratic questioning and progressive scaffolding, giving children repeated opportunities to retrieve knowledge, explain their reasoning and attempt work more independently. A typical lesson moves through recap, a guided question, a worked example, an individual attempt and error analysis. This sequence may suit Secondary 1 children who need visible steps when learning how historical evidence supports a conclusion. In-person and live online formats are available, although parents should confirm that sufficient demand and a suitable timetable exist for their requested History class.

Why Parents Choose Ancourage Academy?

Parents may shortlist Ancourage Academy because its small classes can offer frequent questioning and closer observation of each child’s reasoning. The structured lesson flow could help a learner who freezes when facing an unfamiliar source, since support is gradually reduced rather than removed immediately. Termly progress reports and homework assistance also give parents clearer insight into recurring weaknesses. As Secondary 1 History runs upon request, families should confirm class formation, tutor suitability and whether the proposed pace follows their child’s school syllabus.

Lessons are well-structured, and the guidance given goes beyond just completing homework — they focus on building strong foundations and confidence.

It’s inspiring to see how much effort the team puts into refining their teaching methods and supporting every student’s growth. The steady improvement in students’ performance clearly reflects their dedication. Highly recommended for parents looking for a tuition centre that truly cares!

Started off as a trial class for my 5-year-old, and Teacher Angie immediately noticed her creativity and love for colours and concepts. We’ve been with the school for many months now, and my child truly enjoys every lesson. Teacher Angie motivates and guides her with such kindness — like an angel — helping her build the confidence and imagination to create her own ideas, even at just from 4 - 5 years old. This extra curriculum lesson is good for keeps and release their daily tension thru an artwork and a brush! Thank you Teacher Angie!

Ancourage Tuition has really helped me improve a lot, especially my confidence when answering challenging maths questions. The classes are effective and easy to follow, and the teachers actually make sure you understand what you’re learning. Teacher Min is especially great, super patient with me and always explains things clearly, even when I completely forget about basics i should by right already know. You can tell she really cares about her students. Definitely recommend this place if you want a chill but effective tuition.

  • Progressive scaffolding reduces guidance gradually, supporting confidence while moving children towards independent source interpretation and writing.
  • Worked examples precede individual attempts, showing how evidence and explanation connect before children practise independently.

7. LitHumanities Tuition

Overview of Business

LitHumanities Tuition provides lower secondary History and Geography support through Mdm Yu, an NIE-trained tutor with more than 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Her qualifications include a Master’s in Literary Studies from NUS, while the broader practice covers English Language, Literature and Humanities. Lower secondary Humanities lessons focus on essential concepts, source work, question-type practice, presentation of findings and continued scaffolding as children develop independence. Customised combination sessions may cover several English and Humanities subjects in one sitting, with time redirected towards the area needing clarification or assessment preparation. This flexibility could suit a Secondary 1 child experiencing overlapping difficulties in History reading and written expression. Lessons are offered around Orchard and Tampines, although parents should confirm current Secondary 1 History schedules, class size and whether a single-subject arrangement would be preferable.

Why Parents Choose LitHumanities Tuition?

Parents may consider LitHumanities Tuition when their child needs Humanities guidance that also recognises language-related barriers. A learner may understand a source yet struggle to identify the command word, select evidence or express an inference concisely. Mdm Yu’s small-group approach and scaffolding can provide closer attention than a large lecture, while discussion may help children test interpretations aloud. Combination sessions offer flexibility, but parents should check whether dividing lesson time across subjects gives their child enough focused Secondary 1 History practice.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Literature (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Sec 3-4)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Foundational concept teaching gives children the context needed to interpret sources rather than guess from isolated wording.
  • Question-type practice builds familiarity with task demands, reducing answers that address the topic but miss the command.
  • Ongoing scaffolding models difficult reasoning first, then gradually asks children to complete more of each response independently.
  • Source work develops evidence interpretation, helping learners distinguish visible details from defensible historical inferences and conclusions.
  • Customised combination sessions redirect time towards immediate weaknesses, which may help children facing related language and History difficulties.

Location and Availability

Tuition is offered near Orchard MRT and at Tampines locations close to rail connections. Weekday single-subject and weekend combination arrangements may be available.

Price Range

Parents should enquire with LitHumanities Tuition directly for the exact rates. A one-time administrative charge may apply to weekend combination sessions.

8. IQ & EQ Education

Overview of Business

IQ & EQ Education is an MOE-registered tuition organisation with 21 years of tutoring experience and several locations in eastern Singapore. Its secondary subject range includes History, Geography and Social Studies, although the exact grade range for regular History tuition is not specified. Humanities teaching concentrates on interpreting question requirements, producing pointed responses and using notes containing empirical examples. Classes operate in small focus groups of four to six learners and generally run for two hours. This format may give a Secondary 1 child enough time to examine sources, attempt written work and receive correction without disappearing into a large cohort. The organisation also emphasises confidence and alternative explanations rather than rote learning, but parents should confirm that the available History class follows the Secondary 1 syllabus and suits their child’s school pace.

Why Parents Choose IQ & EQ Education?

Parents may consider IQ & EQ Education if they prefer a small physical class in the East and want regular communication about progress. Groups of four to six learners may encourage a hesitant child to ask why an inference is weak, instead of copying corrections without understanding them. Flexible replacement arrangements can also matter when school activities disrupt a weekly routine. Since History is offered without a clear grade range, parents should ask about Secondary 1 content coverage, tutor experience and the balance between factual teaching and source practice.

I am very delighted to share this review as I am very happy the progress my kid achieved.I will start with thanking amazing Mathematics teacher IQ&EQ has.The methodical and focussed approached they followed , I liked the most. Focussed in class, checking kids work ,doing a followup , working on Parent feedback. I often interacted with Coordinator staff and with the teachers. They were very perceptive of the feedback and immediately incorporated them.
My kid achieved the goal and thanks for IQ & EQ for an awesome experience.
Thanks to awesome Mathematics Teachers.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the excellent support and guidance provided by IQ&EQ Tampines Mart teachers and Ms Joanne.

This center dedication has greatly contributed to our twins’ great academic performance in their O level examination. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw their grades. For examples: A1 for English when they were C6-B4, B3 for Chinese when they consistently failed this subject, A2 for AMaths, A2 for Pure Physics and Pure Chemistry. Thank you so much for making a positive impact on their secondary school journey.

  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Principles of Accounts (Sec 3-4)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Tutors teach children to interpret question requirements, reducing responses that contain facts but miss the intended task.
  • Pointed-answer practice encourages concise reasoning, helping learners avoid lengthy paragraphs that never support a clear conclusion.
  • Notes include empirical examples, giving children usable contextual support when explaining historical claims and source meaning.
  • Small focus groups allow tutors to notice misconceptions while giving learners opportunities to hear alternative interpretations.
  • Teachers vary explanations when an approach fails, which may support children who do not respond to rote repetition.

9. The Thinktank

Overview of Business

The Thinktank is an MOE-registered private school founded in 2008, offering a Humanities Programme for Secondary 1 to Secondary 4 learners. History sits alongside Social Studies, Geography, Economics and Theory of Knowledge within a curriculum centred on critical thinking, conceptual understanding and independent thought. This broader framing may help children see History as an argument-driven discipline rather than a collection of facts, especially during the transition into secondary source work. Individually targeted Thinktank Clinics are also available for English or Humanities, either face to face or through online conferencing. These sessions include monitoring, assignment support and extra home practice aligned with the learner’s pace. Families can therefore compare the shared Humanities Programme with individual support, depending on whether their Secondary 1 child benefits more from peer discussion or concentrated correction.

Why Parents Choose The Thinktank?

Parents may choose The Thinktank when they want History taught through inquiry, interpretation and conceptual connections rather than repetitive content drilling. Its experienced teaching team includes former department heads, which may reassure families concerned about subject depth and curriculum design. Individual Humanities Clinics offer another route when a child needs closer attention for source work or written explanations. The main consideration is format, as parents should establish how much programme time is devoted specifically to Secondary 1 History within the broader Humanities offering.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Literature (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Economics (Sec 1-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • Thematic study connects ideas across topics, helping children understand historical developments instead of memorising chapters separately.
  • Critical-thinking tasks ask learners to examine assumptions and arguments, strengthening evaluation beyond surface source description.
  • Authentic learning links academic material with meaningful contexts, which may make unfamiliar events easier to discuss.
  • Individual Humanities Clinics adjust pacing and practice, supporting children whose specific writing gaps persist in group settings.
  • Weekly online assistance reinforces assignments, giving learners another opportunity to clarify reasoning between scheduled tuition sessions.

Location and Availability

Classes are based at 25 Binjai Park. Individual Humanities Clinics can run face to face or through online conferencing, with weekly online assignment support.

Price Range

Parents should enquire with The Thinktank directly for the exact rates. Fees require advance payment, while replacement lessons are limited within each term.

10. learnMOJO

Overview of Business

learnMOJO provides online Humanities coaching specifically covering Secondary 1 History and Geography, making it closely aligned with this article’s target grade. Founded in 2014 by former MOE History and Social Studies teacher Karen Ang, the programme uses NIE-trained former MOE teachers experienced in setting examinations and marking scripts. Weekly small-group coaching is capped at four learners and includes a live recorded lesson, marked assignment, corrections, personalised feedback and continuing support. Its D.A.T.A. System combines bite-sized practice, assessment, focused teaching and weekly reinforcement, rather than depending on last-minute revision before school tests. Secondary 1 children can also use a self-paced History Exam Booster for extra video explanations, summaries and paper practice. Parents can therefore choose guided weekly accountability, independent revision resources or a combination based on their child’s study habits.

Why Parents Choose learnMOJO?

Parents may shortlist learnMOJO because its Secondary 1 History provision is explicit, online and taught in very small groups. Weekly marked work can reveal whether a child is merely describing a source, selecting weak evidence or leaving an inference unexplained. Recorded lessons and continuing support may help when CCA fatigue affects concentration during the live session. The main trade-off is screen-based learning, which suits independent children but may require parental monitoring if the child tends to postpone digital assignments.

Through Teacher Karen dedicated guidance, my child scored A2 for History. The comprehensive notes and worksheets helped my child to consistently achieve As throughout his Sec 2. Even though, he is unable to attend the live lessons due to CCA commitments, he is able to do it the day after as it’s available for students to watch recordings anytime and clarify any doubts through the Q&A support. Thank you Teacher Karen for encouraging my son to keep trying the questions and guided him patiently!

My daughter joined the Sec 1 online history and geography lessons in 2025 and she was able to fully understand the syllabus. The teachers were patient with all of her questions and answered her questions. They also explained the syllabus very clearly such that she was able to understand within one lesson. The notes were also very simple and easy to understand for her to be able to do self revision and memorise the notes quickly. She improved from B4 to A2 in just a short period of time. She is happy to continue with the sec 2 online lesson for both subjects this year due to the flexibility and the effectiveness of the lesson.

We would like to extend our thank you and greatest appreciation to Tr Karen and Tr Stacy for doing such a wonderful and great job with their online lessons and dedicated guidance.

Learn Mojo provides very well structured notes. The techniques taught on how to answer different types of examination questions were especially useful. Chapter summary notes for memorisation, practise paper that comes with soft copy answers as well as video for each question to explain for the child were very well developed. My child was initially cluless how to study for history when he commence his sec 1 journey, but Learn Mojo played a very crucial role in my child's attainment of A1 for history and A2 for geography for his EOY.

My son enjoyed the sec 1 online history and geography lessons. The 1-hour lessons are just the right length — focused and efficient, without the need to spend time travelling. The teachers are very encouraging and explains the topics clearly at a comfortable pace. The practice questions are very useful for revisions too. It helped to reinforce what they learned during lessons. Overall, a happy learning experience!

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Sec 3-4)
  • O Level Preparation
  • SEC Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Bite-sized weekly assignments make History practice manageable, reducing the temptation to postpone everything until assessment week.
  • Marked corrections require children to revisit errors, helping feedback become applied learning rather than unread comments.
  • Focused live teaching addresses diagnosed content gaps, so lesson time responds to observed weaknesses instead of assumptions.
  • Groups of up to four permit personalised questioning, while peer explanations expose children to alternative source interpretations.
  • Recorded lessons and private support reinforce difficult skills when children need another explanation after the scheduled class.

Location and Availability

Small-group coaching and Exam Booster resources are delivered online, removing travel from the weekly routine. Recorded lessons remain accessible within each child’s private virtual classroom.

Price Range

Secondary 1 small-group online Humanities coaching costs $320 per four weeks. The self-paced Secondary 1 History Booster Pass costs $580 for 2026 access.

How to Choose the Best Secondary 1 History Tuition for Your Child?

The best Secondary 1 History tuition depends on why your child is struggling and how they respond to correction. Some children need patient content explanation, while others know the chapter but cannot infer, compare evidence or organise written reasoning. Consider the following points before committing to a regular class.

  • Identify the precise History learning gap, then choose support focused on content, source interpretation, evidence selection, structured writing or assessment time management.
  • Match lessons to your child’s temperament, comparing one-to-one attention, very small groups and discussion-based classes against their willingness to ask questions.
  • Examine the tutor’s relevant experience carefully, including familiarity with lower secondary History, current syllabus expectations, source questions and constructive written feedback.
  • Compare class access against weekly routines, since an excellent programme may still backfire if travel, CCA fatigue or late lessons reduce concentration.
  • Read reviews with sensible context, looking for recurring comments about explanation quality, responsiveness and feedback rather than treating individual grade improvements as guarantees.
  • Set a sustainable tuition budget, factoring in lesson duration, frequency, materials, online access and whether extra individual consultations cost more.

A trial lesson can reveal more than promotional claims. Notice whether the tutor asks your child to explain their thinking, corrects incomplete reasoning specifically and leaves them clearer rather than simply more overloaded. The right secondary History tuition centre should provide enough challenge to build independence while giving your child a safe way to make, understand and correct mistakes.
