Free Request For Tuition

Choosing among the Top 10 Secondary 2 Social Studies Tuition Centres in Singapore can feel difficult when your child understands current affairs yet struggles to interpret sources, explain evidence or finish answers on time. At secondary 2, the right support should strengthen Humanities foundations while preparing children for the heavier source-based and structured-response demands ahead. Some options below teach secondary 2 Humanities directly, while others provide personalised tuition across secondary levels or begin formal Social Studies classes at secondary 3. Parents should therefore compare programme eligibility, feedback, class size and teaching style carefully. This guide examines each option through the concerns that matter at this stage, including concept clarity, answer construction, confidence, travel time and whether lessons match your child’s present school needs.

Key Takeaways

  • When comparing secondary 2 Social Studies tuition centres, confirm that the programme accepts secondary 2 children and covers their specific pathway.
  • Look for explicit teaching of source interpretation, evidence use and structured writing, rather than lessons centred mainly on memorising content notes.
  • Compare class size, marking frequency, location and fees against your child’s confidence, school workload, CCA schedule and need for individual feedback.

MindFlex – Your Best Platform for Secondary 2 Social Studies Home Tuition

Overview of Business

MindFlex Tuition Agency connects Singapore families with private tutors for secondary 2 Social Studies home tuition rather than running a fixed classroom programme. Its matching service can consider the child’s school syllabus, weaker Humanities skills, preferred timetable, location, budget and tutor profile. With more than 50,000 active tutors in its network, MindFlex may suit parents seeking someone familiar with lower secondary source analysis, evidence-based explanation and structured writing. One-to-one lessons can follow current school topics while addressing recurring problems, such as copying sources without explaining their meaning. Families can request home or online tuition, which may reduce travel pressure around schoolwork and CCA commitments. The matching service carries no agency fee, allowing parents to review recommended profiles before committing to an arrangement.

Why Parents Choose MindFlex?

Parents may choose MindFlex when their child needs closer questioning and correction than a group class provides. A matched tutor can slow down source interpretation, examine incomplete explanations and adjust practice to the child’s school assessments rather than following one shared pace. The large tutor pool also gives families options across qualifications and hourly rates. Coordinators are available seven days a week, which may help parents arrange support promptly after weak results or repeated homework frustration.

It has truly been a blessing to find Mr. Tan Tiam Teng as my son’s Chinese tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated—qualities that have made a huge difference in my son’s learning journey. My Primary 4 son has shown remarkable improvement in his Chinese since starting lessons, and we are so grateful for the progress.

Beyond the academic results, Mr. Tan’s teaching style has built my son’s confidence and interest in the subject. He is punctual, pleasant disposition and understands what a child needs. The entire experience with Mind Flex has also been very pleasant, professional, and supportive.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tutor who genuinely cares and delivers excellent results

Friendly, pleasant, swift, helpful and most importantly not pushy

Beyond personalised home tuition, parents may prefer a group setting with a shared curriculum and peer discussion. MindFlex has brought together the following centre details and current Google review widgets, where available, to help families compare subject coverage, teaching methods, locations and costs. As programme entry levels differ, confirm that a class currently suits a secondary 2 child before enrolling.

1. Smartlab Education Centre

Overview of Business

Smartlab Education Centre has operated since 1999 and provides structured secondary tuition at several neighbourhood locations in Singapore. Its listed secondary provision includes History and Social Studies, although the available details identify regular Combined Humanities classes most clearly for secondary 3 and secondary 4. Parents seeking immediate secondary 2 tuition should therefore ask whether a suitable lower secondary class or individual arrangement is currently available. Its Exploration, Strengthening and Consolidation system combines activity-based learning, structured notes, practice and feedback. This approach may help children progress from general Humanities foundations towards more demanding source-based and structured responses. Small classes, described at a ratio of approximately one teacher to six students for tuition, may give quieter children more opportunities to clarify their reasoning. Smartlab also reports serving over 20,000 examination candidates across its wider operations since establishment.

Why Parents Choose Smartlab Education Centre?

Parents may shortlist Smartlab Education Centre for its long operating history, trained teachers and structured lesson materials. The smaller tuition-class ratio may help a child who rarely volunteers answers in school receive more direct questioning and correction. Exam-orientated worksheets can also make future assessment expectations less vague, rather than leaving the child to infer techniques from content notes alone. Families should confirm the precise secondary 2 Social Studies arrangement, timetable and learning pathway before enrolling.

After doing some research, smartlab is the most cost efficient in terms of price and quality, with lab provided and up to date teaching. If you are looking for structure and support even with 0 experience, this is the best place to consider imo.Smartlab also has a diverse student pool so study environment wise,it would require more adaptability and flexibility! Personally,I had to take on a new Alevel subject as a private candidate but I was able to manage thanks to Smartlab. Thank you to all the teachers who remained encouraging throughout this journey!

My daughter joined smartlab to prepare for O-levels, she took Science (Chemistry, Biology) and English at the centre. It was months of their guidance, termly assessments and feedbacks from teachers in preparation for the Os.
She was able to get A2 in Science. The reward she gets from Smartlab every time she gets an A for the Science term assessment added to her motivation. 😁 She said that she was relying on the notes given to her by her teacher towards the exams and she was so thankful of it that she decided to keep all of it if she may need it in the future. She is so thankful to her teachers in Science, I am so thankful to them as well for keeping her more interested in the subject that she loves and helping her excel on it.
As for English she may have not got better result that she wanted still thankful she was able to get passing grade for it.

This is from a parent’s perspective. It was not an easy decision to have my daughter retake her o levels because of the stigma of wasting another year. I knew and so did my daughter from before her prelims that aiming for the result she wanted to get into a school of her choice would be quite impossible. I already started thinking of alternatives and by God’s grace I found out about SmartLab Private School and had a long chat with Tony. After that the path was clear and even when the results were not out, my daughter was registered at the school. 1 year later, the results speak for itself. No tuition this time! Chloe won 2 awards for good performance as well! SmartLab is more than a school, it is a place for those who want direct their own direction in life. Thank you SmartLab for being the light in our lives when we most needed it.

I had a blast the past year studying at smartlab! Every teacher was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and patient. Any part of the syllabuses that I did not understand would be explained to me with patience and repeatedly if necessary without them showing any sign of frustration! Texting the teachers was always recommended if clarification on topics was needed. The classrooms were all kept clean and the teachers always came prepared and well equipped for upcoming lessons. They provided us with ample notes and practice papers to ensure no gap in knowledge whatsoever. Thank you to Mr Tay Tien Kiat, Mr Tan Wei Ee, Mr Collin Lim and Principal of the SmartLab Mr Tony Tan for their guidance and support throughout the year! Highly recommended for those considering taking A levels for the first time and for retakers as well!😊

I enrolled at Smartlab last year to prepare for my O Levels as a private candidate at the age of 24.
Back when I was 17, I took my N Levels and completely flunked them. I had no interest in studying at all. My grades were English (4), History (Absent) and the rest ungraded (Math, Science, POA). Fast forward to last year, after studying with Smartlab, my O Level results were English (A2), Humanities (Social Studies + History) (B4), Business Studies (B3) and POA (B3). Although I didn’t manage to pass Math (D7), I think I did pretty well considering I hadn’t studied for almost 8 years.
Smartlab’s teachers and teaching strategies were very effective, they managed to cover about four years’ worth of content in less than a year. Their resources and structured approach really helped me regain my confidence in studying.
Special thanks to Mr. Collin, who taught me English, Social Studies and History. He’s extremely encouraging, patient and always willing to help. I often texted him late at night with questions and he would always reply quickly.
Overall, Smartlab’s teaching methods, materials and supportive teachers made a huge difference in my learning journey. I’m very thankful for their guidance and would highly recommend Smartlab to anyone preparing for their O Levels.

Smartlab has truly helped me achieve my dreams! When I joined, I was determined to do well for my O-Levels, and thanks to the supportive teachers and their effective teaching methods, I was able to reach my goals. The environment was always encouraging, and the teachers genuinely cared about helping every student succeed.

Because of the foundation I built at Smartlab, I’m now pursuing my Diploma in Criminology at a private academy — something I’ve always been passionate about. I’m really grateful for the guidance, motivation, and belief that Smartlab gave me throughout my journey.

Thank you, Smartlab, for being such an important part of my success and for always reminding your students to believe in themselves! 🙏🎓✨

Thank you so much, SmartLab, for giving me a second chance to redeem myself for my O-Levels and allowing me to pass all my subjects with flying colours. My chemistry especially, have improved tremendously, from E8 to A2!! After many negative experiences in my former school, SmartLab completely changed my perspective on studying and learning.

The teachers here are incredibly kind, patient, and dedicated — they take the time to explain every concept clearly until you truly understand it. They never make you feel judged or left behind, and their encouragement really motivated me to keep going. You can also approach the teachers anytime after class if you still have any doubts. They also provide really good notes and you even get to do hands-on practice for your Science practical at their lab!

The learning environment is also very conducive — quiet, comfortable, and filled with people who genuinely want to learn and improve themselves. I always felt supported not only academically but also emotionally, which made a huge difference in my confidence and attitude toward my studies.

I’m truly grateful for everything SmartLab has done for me. It’s not just a tuition centre — it’s a place that helped me rebuild my self-belief and rediscover the joy of learning. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to do well and feel supported along the way!

2. Inspire Education Centre

Overview of Business

Inspire Education Centre has taught selected secondary and pre-university subjects since 2007, with a particular emphasis on thinking and answering skills. Its Humanities provision includes Social Studies and Combined Humanities, although the available information does not clearly identify the entry grade for every programme. Parents considering secondary 2 tuition should confirm placement and syllabus coverage before assuming that an O Level-orientated class fits their child’s current schoolwork. Social Studies teaching includes the Skills Analysis Template method, question analysis, individual homework marking and personalised improvement advice. These features may benefit children who can identify obvious source details but struggle to infer purpose, compare evidence or develop a defensible explanation. One published result describes an O Level Combined Humanities improvement from C6 to A2, although individual outcomes naturally vary and do not establish likely results for another child.

Why Parents Choose Inspire Education Centre?

Parents may consider Inspire Education Centre when their child needs explicit answering routines rather than another stack of revision notes. Individual homework marking can reveal whether marks are being lost through weak inference, incomplete evidence or unclear explanation. Discussion-led teaching may also help children test their ideas before committing them to writing, especially if they lack confidence in Humanities. As programme levels vary, families should verify that the available Social Studies tuition is appropriate for secondary 2 content and pace.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Math (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Literature, Social Studies (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Science (Sec 1-2)
  • Secondary Principles of Accounts (Sec 3-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • The Skills Analysis Template gives children a repeatable process for interpreting questions and organising relevant Social Studies responses.
  • Individual homework marking pinpoints weak reasoning, helping children understand why an apparently sensible answer may lose marks.
  • Critical-thinking discussions encourage children to assess competing ideas instead of memorising a single interpretation without evaluation.
  • Selected examination practices build familiarity with source-based demands while allowing tutors to address recurring technique errors.
  • Personalised improvement tips focus revision on weaker areas, preventing children from repeatedly practising question types they already manage.

Location and Availability

Classes are held at Orchard Towers and Roxy Square 1 in Marine Parade. Online lessons are also available, which may suit families hoping to reduce weekday travel.

Price Range

Combined Humanities tuition costs $360 for four 1.5-hour lessons. Fees are collected monthly, with a minimum commitment of four lessons and no trial lesson.

3. Humanities Club

Overview of Business

Humanities Club focuses specifically on Social Studies, Geography and History from its Bukit Timah base. Its courses prepare students for N Level and O Level examinations, while a dedicated secondary 2 class is not specified in the available information. This makes it most relevant to parents researching an upper secondary pathway early or asking whether tailored support is available for their child’s present level. Founder Joshua personally teaches Social Studies, including source-based case studies and structured responses using planned, evidence-supported paragraphs. Lessons emphasise content mastery, answering techniques, time management and weaknesses that can make Humanities feel unpredictable. Children who enjoy real-world discussion may respond well to the effort to connect issues with lived experience. Those needing current secondary 2 support should first ask whether teaching can be adjusted to their school syllabus and pathway.

Why Parents Choose Humanities Club?

Parents often shortlist Humanities Club because Humanities is its core specialisation rather than one subject within a large catalogue. Teachers are described as former MOE educators with relevant NUS, NIE and postgraduate qualifications, which may reassure families seeking subject depth. Step-by-step practice could help children understand how evidence, explanation and judgement fit together instead of treating Social Studies as pure memory work. Its stated examination focus means secondary 2 families must still confirm whether an age-appropriate class is available.

Recently my son have received his O level results, he is very grateful that his Hum/Geo got B3 which is over his expectation. He has been struggling for this subject since in his Sec 4NA and going to 5NA.

His result for this subject is always at the range of C5 to C6. However, after sending my son to Humanities Club to provide more help, he actually improve a lot. He mentioned the ways the tutor, Mr Joshua teaches are very interesting and able to engage him to understand the topics easier. He really shows his professionlism towards his teaching and wanting his students to improve and achieve better grade.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the guidances and patiences. I strongly recommand parents to sent their child to Humanities Club for help before it is too late.

What stood out most was their patience, encouragement, and consistent guidance in exam techniques, answering strategies, and time management. Because of their dedication and commitment, my confidence improved significantly and I was able to achieve an A1 for both subjects.

I highly recommend them to any student who wants to strengthen their understanding and perform well academically. Thank you, Joshua and Ms Ellie, for making such a positive difference in my learning journey.

  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Social Studies (Sec 1-4)
  • O Level Preparation

Teaching Methodology

  • Step-by-step source-based examples show children how to move from observation towards supported inference and evaluation.
  • Structured-response planning teaches children to select relevant factors before writing, reducing unfocused paragraphs and wasted examination time.
  • Model answers provide comparison points, helping children judge whether their own explanations answer the precise question asked.
  • The P.E.E.L. structure organises points and evidence, supporting clearer paragraphs when children know content but write loosely.
  • Real-world connections make abstract civic issues more relatable, which may strengthen engagement and longer-term content recall.

4. Brain Matter

Overview of Business

Brain Matter is a Bishan tuition centre whose scheduled Social Studies programme is explicitly offered from secondary 3 to secondary 5. However, the centre also states that one-to-one tutoring is available upon request for all subjects and levels, giving secondary 2 families a possible route to immediate, individually arranged support. Regular classes contain no more than five students. Social Studies teaching uses pre-teaching, wider contextual knowledge, current developments, examination skills, time management and school-paper practice. This mix may support children who understand isolated facts yet cannot connect a source to its political or social setting. Teachers for the subject are described as having more than 20 years of experience, including a pioneer MOE-trained Social Studies teacher. Prompt parent feedback can help families understand progress beyond test scores, although current tutor availability should be confirmed.

Why Parents Choose Brain Matter?

Parents may favour Brain Matter when their child tends to stay silent in larger classes or needs frequent checks on written reasoning. Its five-student class limit creates room for individual guidance, while prompt feedback keeps parents informed without relying only on report-book marks. Linking lessons to current developments may make unfamiliar issues easier to discuss and remember. Secondary 2 families can also ask about the stated one-to-one option for all subjects and levels.

My son has just received his O level results. He achieved A2 in Emath and B3 in Amath. We are extremely happy with his results.

He only began Amath lessons with Mr Bernard in June 2025, 4 months before the O level. Prior to that, his results had been at D7 from Sec 3 to WA1 in Sec 4. For Emath, he started lessons in late Sec 2,before that, he was also consistently scoring in the D7–E8 range.

We are very grateful to Mr Bernard for his dedication, guidance, and unwavering support.

My son joined Brain Matter begining of the year for Ms. Sophia's English class. He has been very happy with the classes and I have seen him improve a lot as well. The class size is ideal and what I like the most about the classes is it's very student led in the sense that they ask the students what component of English to prioritise if their weighted assessments are around the corner. Teacher Sophia takes a personal interest in the students improvements, is approachable and gives personalised feedback as well. My son has improved a lot in his essay writing too. This has worked well for my son and we are continuing under the same teacher for next year as well. Keep up the good work Brain Matter team ! Would not hesitate recommending them! My girl started to attend Brain Matter in Term 1 after attending Secondary School as she’s not able to understand the concepts taught in school. Average scores at PSLE (AL4), as she didn’t have tuition in Primary school. Pleased to see her results turnaround after attending Brain Matter Maths tuition for half a year, scoring an A1 at her end of year exams. She enjoys her lessons and Maths subject now.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary Math (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary E Math (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary A Math (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Science (Sec 1-2)
  • Secondary Pure Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary Social Studies (Sec 1-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • Classes capped at five students allow tutors to question individual reasoning and correct misconceptions before they persist.
  • Pre-teaching introduces upcoming Social Studies ideas early, helping children approach school lessons with stronger contextual familiarity.
  • Current developments extend syllabus contexts, making sources less abstract and encouraging children to connect evidence with real events.
  • School-paper practice familiarises children with varied assessment wording while exposing recurring weaknesses in timing and answer structure.
  • Prompt parent feedback clarifies progress and difficulties, supporting measured home follow-up instead of repeated pressure after poor marks.

5. The Humanities Clinic

Overview of Business

The Humanities Clinic specialises in Humanities tuition, with its clearly detailed Social Studies classes designed for secondary 3 and secondary 4 O Level students. Secondary groups are capped at eight, allowing discussion while retaining opportunities for personalised feedback. Its ECCE formula combines answering techniques, concise notes, critical-thinking conversations and exposure to higher-order questions. Social Studies lessons cover step-by-step source-based and structured-response frameworks, current-affairs sharing, case studies, adapted model essays, weekly homework and feedback. This may suit children preparing for upper secondary who need a clear bridge between knowing an issue and constructing a mark-worthy response. Published general pricing also distinguishes lower secondary classes, but the available subject details do not confirm a regular secondary 2 Social Studies programme. Parents should therefore ask whether an appropriate lower secondary Humanities arrangement currently exists before registering.

Why Parents Choose The Humanities Clinic?

Parents may consider The Humanities Clinic for specialist tutors, small groups and structured correction of Humanities answers. Co-founders Ms Lynette Tan and Ms Teo Min Shuen have more than 15 and 10 years of teaching experience respectively, bringing curriculum and assessment familiarity. Weekly homework may appeal when a child needs consistent writing practice rather than last-minute revision before examinations. WhatsApp question support can also help between lessons, although secondary 2 eligibility should be confirmed before registration.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Ms Teo for her dedication and guidance in helping my son achieve As in both H2 History and General Paper in the A-Level exams. Ms Teo teaches him to think critically, structure his arguments and write with clarity and precision. Her materials are up-to-date and well-curated. More importantly, she is very attentive to student’s progress. She ensures they keep pace with school, identifies areas for improvement early and prepares them thoroughly for tests and examinations. For General Paper, Ms Teo’s lessons were equally impactful. Her lessons are structured, engaging, and focused on building both content knowledge and writing skills. There is very regular practice on Paper 1 essays and Paper 2 comprehension. This consistency helped my son improve steadily over time. Despite her busy schedule, Ms. Teo is always responsive to students’ questions and is willing to go the extra mile, especially in the lead-up to major exams. She creates a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help. I am deeply thankful for the impact she has had on my son’s learning journey. I would highly recommend Ms Teo to any student looking to excel in H2 History and General Paper.

I have been with The Humanities Clinic since sec 3 when I started having social studies and Geography classes with them. Now that I’ve graduated JC, and having had attended GP lessons by Ms Teo, I really recommend their classes. Ms Teo is extremely knowledgeable in current affairs and her GP lessons are always so informative and fun. Ms Tan actually taught me geo and Econs for a period of time and I also really enjoyed her lessons. If I were taking more Arts subjects, I’ll definitely join their other classes:))

The tutors here are super knowledgeable, patient and kind, and they definitely go the extra mile to ensure that you are well prepared for your exams!! They not only improved my understanding of the material, but also built my exam confidence. My grades saw a sharp improvement after seeing Ms Tan for H2 Econs and Ms Teo for GP :))

Miss Teo was truly a lifesaver during my A-Level journey. She guided me clearly through the new History syllabus, breaking down complex topics and exam requirements in a way that was easy to understand and apply.

Her notes were extremely high quality — concise, well-structured, and tailored exactly to what examiners look out for. The model answers she provided were especially helpful in showing me how to structure my essays and develop strong evaluation.

Most importantly, she helped turn a very lost and uncertain student into someone who eventually attained an A. I’m genuinely grateful for her patience, clarity, and dedication. I would highly recommend her if you are looking to improve your History grades.

Janice is taught by 2 dedicated teachers - Ms Teo (English) & Ms Tan (History, Social Studies & Geography).
Under their effective coaching and using concise easy-to-understand notes, Janice managed an A1 for English, Combined Humanities and Pure Geography respectively.
Ms Teo and Ms Tan have been a strong pillar of support to Janice during the O-Levels examinations period by constantly encouraging her and even provided her complimentary extra lesson time.
I absolutely recommend The Humanities Clinic to all parents if their children need that extra boost of confidence to score better in their studies!

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Social Studies (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • Step-by-step SBQ and SRQ frameworks show children how to convert source observations into organised, supported answers.
  • Current-affairs discussions supply meaningful context, helping children evaluate issues rather than memorise detached examples and phrases.
  • Weekly homework creates regular writing practice, while tutor feedback identifies weak links between claims, evidence and explanation.
  • Curated notes and cheat sheets reduce revision clutter, supporting children who feel overwhelmed by lengthy Humanities materials.
  • Small groups preserve peer discussion while giving tutors more scope to notice hesitant participation and recurring answer errors.

6. Zenith Education Studio

Overview of Business

Zenith Education Studio provides secondary programmes across academic subjects, with its stated Social Studies offering placed under upper secondary Combined Humanities. The programme uses a Learn-Understand-Apply approach, curated questions, model answers, past papers, memory methods and discussion-based learning. For a secondary 2 child, Zenith is therefore an option to investigate for future progression unless the centre confirms a suitable lower secondary Humanities placement. Its group format may appeal to children who learn by hearing competing interpretations and explaining their own views aloud. Consultations and online support can provide extra clarification outside scheduled lessons, which matters when a child only notices confusion while completing homework. Zenith reports serving more than 20,000 students since 2019, although its centre-wide outcomes cover different subjects and levels and should not be interpreted as a Social Studies result or promise.

Why Parents Choose Zenith Education Studio?

Parents may shortlist Zenith Education Studio for its curated materials, discussion-based teaching and support beyond class hours. The Learn-Understand-Apply sequence may help a child move past memorised phrases by requiring concepts to be used in questions and discussions. Multiple outlets can also reduce weekly travel, an important consideration when CCA ends late. As Social Studies is supported at upper secondary level, parents need to confirm whether any current class directly addresses secondary 2 Humanities requirements.

If you asked me what it means to be a bubbly, food loving critic that is competent and skilled in teaching Chemistry, there’s only one name that comes to mind. OSN - Ong Shi Neng ☃️

Since the first lesson he has been relentless in ensuring quality education, good eats and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Chemistry in Zenith for the past 1.5 years have truly been like no other. The teachers are caring and helpful, reassuring us that we are prepared, organising 24 hour zooms the night before, just so we can feel a bit more secure the day before the exam. It is no surprise that he is one of Zenith’s most beloved tutors. #Notfreepromo

I attended Chenfang's E-Math classes from Sec 3 to 4 and it really was an amazing experience to be learning with her!

In Sec 4, I jumped from a C6 for Prelims to a B3 for O's, something I thought I wouldn't be able to achieve. Chenfang helped me to understand what my weak points were through weekly assessments and so I improved steadily. Her classes are also really fun since she makes sure that we are not just studying but enjoying the process!
The worksheets at Zenith also helped a lot as there were many diverse types of questions that helped with gradual and thorough understanding, with extras for practice at home! The snacks were also a real help for staying focused in class 🙂

I joined Nick's class in sec 3 for physics and he has helped me get good grades for physics throughout my upper sec and eventually get a1 for o levels. Without Nick I do not think I would have achieved such a good score. He is a very good teacher and makes lessons feel fun and explains concepts very well, I have not been lost or confused once in his lessons throughout my two years with him. I look forward to his classes every week and he made me fall in love with physics.😍😍 He also helps me with physics questions outside of lesson time when I whatsapp him especially when I was preparing for my exams.👍👍👍

I attended Nicholas Koh’s classes when I realised I was failing Chemistry and Physics in my Sec 3 WA2s. He helped pull my grades up from an F9 to an A2 for my O Levels! I truly appreciate his help so much. He is understanding, yet he also challenges me and strongly believes in my potential. His lessons are unlike those of other tutors who simply spoon-feed information instead, he makes sure new concepts are thoroughly drilled into your head so you truly understand them. Thank you Nick you genuinely changed my life. You’re the best!

I was a J2 student taking H2 physics under duncan!! Duncan is honestly one of the best physics tutors I’ve ever had. Shi Neng chemistry class is so good. Like everyone around me keeps saying chemistry is so hard and honestly I did find Chem hard before joining zenith Chem. However, after I went for June trial for energetics I realised how simple Chem is. Especially he helped me so much in organiche Chem by covering all the foundations and the small tiny details! I rlly recommend this class and I have gotten A /B throughout the time I have been with zenith. It’s also very fun cause he has a sense of humour HAHA !

7. Bespoke Learning Centre

Overview of Business

Bespoke Learning Centre offers MOE-aligned secondary tuition in small groups across four Singapore neighbourhoods. Its Combined Humanities programme, including Social Studies with History or Geography, is specifically supported for secondary 3 to secondary 5 students rather than secondary 2. Lessons use source-based and structured-response practice, P.E.E.L. writing, model essays, answer templates, past-year papers and targeted feedback. These methods may interest parents whose child needs a systematic route into upper secondary Humanities instead of being expected to discover answer conventions through trial and error. Classes are capped at eight students, while enrolled children can use round-the-clock WhatsApp homework support. Bespoke publishes a general secondary 2 tuition fee, but that does not confirm Social Studies availability at this level. Families should ask whether relevant Humanities support can be arranged now or regard the Combined Humanities programme as a next-stage option.

Why Parents Choose Bespoke Learning Centre?

Parents may consider Bespoke Learning Centre for small-group teaching, an MOE-aligned curriculum and access to former MOE teachers. Answer templates can give an uncertain child a useful starting structure, while feedback should gradually prevent overdependence on rigid wording. WhatsApp homework support may also help when questions arise outside class, especially during busy assessment weeks. The stated Combined Humanities course begins at secondary 3, so it should not be assumed to meet an immediate secondary 2 need without confirmation.

Moved from Commit Learning to Bespoke. Compared to Commit, it different in below:
1. Teacher help practise the spelling and Ting Xie.
2. Open until 8pm (Commit 6:30pm), have air-conditioning.
3. Can fetch any time. (Commit if you late a minute have to wait hours for next slot to fetch kids, strictly no compromise)
4. Teacher more patient, talk loud to student but not shouting. (Compared to Commit teachers keep shouting at student)
5. My child is happier there.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Do NOT register your child at Bespoke Khatib.
The level of negligence here is appalling. The teachers failed to pick up my daughter twice in two weeks. This isn't just a "mistake"—it is a recurring safety failure that shows they learn nothing from their errors. There was an incident happened on 30th Jan, Friday where they failed to pick up my daughter and her friend from the bus stop simply because they assumed there was no school, without even bothering to verify with the parents.

Similarly, another incident happened at 6th Feb, Friday, where they failed to pick up my daughter when she is alone.

Worse still, the management is a total mess. The Cluster Head, Bernard, doesn’t even know his new teachers' names, which points to a massive internal organisational issue. There is clearly zero respect for leadership and no communication.

To top it off, on the day of the incident, the teacher Qilah at the centre kept rejecting my calls instead of facing the situation. Teacher Qilah even said that she would take a photo of my child when my child was not picked up. At least, they should show some effort to find the kids that were not picked up. If you value your child’s safety, stay far away from this place as the teachers will not account who is missing.

In addition, the upper management fail to give an apology to the parents and only rely on Bernard, the cluster head to communicate. This showed a lack of respect to the affected parents regarding their mistakes in oversight for failing to correct the mistakes twice. I should not have believe they will change after the first incident. Please learn from my mistake.
Bespoke Learning Centre has been wonderful for our kid. Ms Natasha and all teachers are caring and friendly. My child feels happy and safe there. The teachers help with schoolwork which takes a huge load off for us parents. The students are also taught about the importance of chores. My child enjoys the food here. We are glad we found this student care centre.

I’m very happy with this student care centre. The teachers and staff are caring, patient, and genuinely attentive to the children’s needs. They not only provide a safe and comfortable environment but also help with homework, encourage good habits, and organise fun, engaging activities. My child has grown more confident, independent, and always looks forward to going. Highly recommended to any parent looking for quality care and guidance for their child.
At Bespoke, the teachers are both professional and knowledgeable, creating a supportive and engaging environment for learning. The staff are approachable and make the center a welcoming place for students. My child enjoys attending Bespoke for after-school care, and I appreciate the wide range of activities available, especially during school holidays. They also assist with homework and provide additional assessments, which has been incredibly helpful. Overall, Bespoke offers a fantastic balance of education and recreation, and I’m very pleased with the care and support my child receives.

Don’t recommend for this learning Center at wisteria mall.
The teacher and staff and so call manager can’t give a answer
1st - teacher keep come late and make us wait
2nd - the admin staff change the teacher for the day without informing the student parent
3rd - for primary 1 math , they teach the kids by using calculator and is not the first time.
4th - the manager keep reject me to say to the higher authority.

Think twice if you gonna send your kids to here.

  • Secondary E Math (Sec 1-5)
  • Secondary A Math (Sec 3-5)

  • Secondary Principles of Accounts (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Social Studies (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary Higher Chinese (Sec 1-5)
  • Secondary Chinese (Sec 1-5)

Teaching Methodology

  • MOE-aligned lessons connect tuition tasks with school expectations, reducing confusion caused by conflicting terminology or answer formats.
  • SBQ and SRQ practice teaches children to distinguish question demands before selecting evidence and constructing explanations.
  • P.E.E.L. structures and answer templates provide initial guidance, helping hesitant writers organise points without leaving ideas fragmented.
  • Past-year papers and timed practices build assessment familiarity while revealing whether weak performance comes from knowledge or pacing.
  • Small groups and targeted feedback give tutors opportunities to address individual mistakes rather than correcting only common class errors.

Location and Availability

Branches are located in Yishun, Punggol, Tampines and Sembawang. Live online lessons have also been offered, giving families possible flexibility around travel and weekday commitments.

8. illum.e

Overview of Business

illum.e is an MOE-registered tuition centre with Humanities support beginning from secondary 2 under G1, G2 and G3 pathways. This makes it one of the more directly relevant secondary 2 tuition centres in this comparison, although parents should confirm whether their child’s class combines Social Studies with Geography or History. Humanities lessons use structured Thinking Frames, targeted practice, immediate feedback, in-house notes, infographics, mind maps and examination-paper questions. The reported average teacher-student ratio is one to eight, potentially balancing discussion with closer guidance. For a child who understands classroom conversations but produces vague written explanations, question analysis and immediate correction may make the gap more visible. Hybrid face-to-face and live Zoom formats for older students can also help families manage travel without giving up scheduled interaction or access to a tutor.

Why Parents Choose illum.e?

Parents may choose illum.e because its Humanities provision explicitly begins at secondary 2 and supports different subject-banding pathways. Thinking Frames may help a child approach unfamiliar sources consistently, while on-the-spot feedback prevents weak reasoning from being repeated throughout an exercise. The one-to-eight average ratio may suit children who benefit from peer discussion but still need individual attention. Six campuses and hybrid arrangements also provide practical flexibility, especially when tuition must fit around CCA and school travel.

Before joining illum.e, I was scoring badly for GP up until promos in J1. I did not understand how GP worked and what was even required to score well in GP. After joining illum.e in J2, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo's lessons made me understand that GP was actually very much doable. Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would also always make the extra effort to help me mark and provide feedback on areas for improvement promptly. Would definitely recommend anyone considering a GP tuition centre to join illum.e!

I enrolled into Illume in 2024 in Mr Chia and Mr Yeo class at Jurong East campus, and throughout the 1.5 years in illume, I managed to improve my GP significantly through the structured classes and lectures. The lesson materials were useful since it provided easy to remember methods and strategies to tackle the broad subject requirements. Additionally Mr Chia and Mr Yeo were engaging and frequently put in the effort to make our lessons fun and interesting. Furthermore, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would take time to consult with us and check our essay outlines or comprehension questions outside of lesson hours or during exam periods, even if they were very busy. Overall, illume has helped me not only in scoring an A for GP but also equip me with general knowledge about local and global affairs, which are valuable when entering the workforce in the future.

Mr Chia played the biggest role in helping me achieve an A for GP during my A Levels. Before attending his classes, I was completely clueless about how to write good essays, as the help given by my school teachers was too vague and confusing. I am very grateful to Mr Chia, who taught me how to use illum.e’s very own skill sets to dissect question types and keyword types, which are the keys to answering any type of essay question.

I truly appreciate that in every single lesson, Mr Chia made it a point to review every student’s answers and provide personalised feedback to target the weaknesses in our responses and teach us how to improve. I also liked that he engaged with his students in class to ensure that we were following him and to liven up the atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised when I wrote at least three additional essays for Mr Chia to mark and he returned them to me with fully annotated scripts showing where I could improve. Every piece of feedback was immensely useful. (He was not obliged to mark them at all.) This showed his dedication and responsibility towards helping his students.

As for comprehension, I went from barely passing to getting an A during prelims. Similarly, I would credit this improvement to Mr Chia. He was very encouraging, even when the class struggled to paraphrase certain words.

Finally, even though I only joined his classes in April of J2, I was able to see myself doing better in GP at school after applying the feedback Mr Chia gave. This shows how experienced he is in knowing exactly what his students need to do to perform better in the subject.

I 100% recommend juniors who feel uncertain about GP to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My English teacher, Mr. Chia from Illum Education (Jurong East), played a huge role in helping me achieve a B3 in my National Examinations.

When I first joined in mid-May, I was barely passing with around 50 marks. Even close to Prelims in late July, I was still stuck at 55 and extremely worried about my actual exams. After consulting Mr. Chia, the improvement I saw within just three weeks was honestly insane.

He didn’t just teach me content; he fixed my exam strategy. For Paper 1 (especially Situational Writing), I used to write the wrong things and overwrite. He taught me how to write less but include the right points to score higher. For Paper 2, I used to struggle to find answers in the passage, but after his guidance, it became much easier.

What really stood out was his care and dedication. Despite being busy, he still took time to mark my extra work and patiently answer my questions after lessons. He always checked in to make sure I had no doubts.

If you want results, Mr. Chia is the teacher you need. Highly recommended.

Mr Roger was my teacher at Illum.e. I joined midway through Sec 4, and many people questioned why I decided to start tuition so close to my O Levels. Previously, I believed I could self-study and still achieve a good grade for English. However, after receiving my WA1 and WA2 results, I realised my grades were declining from a C6 to a D7. That was when I told my mum that I needed tuition.

During my time at Illum.e, I learnt a lot from Mr Roger. He always took the time to explain every detail clearly, especially words or concepts that students were unsure of. Beyond that, Illum.e taught us how to approach questions based on what markers are actually looking for. This helped me understand how to answer effectively without overthinking or overwriting during exams.

As a result, I was able to manage my time much better in my actual O Levels. I am truly grateful to Illum.e and for my own hard work, which helped me achieve a B3 for my English O Levels.

My child’s English grade improved significantly from E8 to an A, and we are extremely grateful to illum.e.

After just one visit, we decided to entrust our child to the centre, and it proved to be the right decision. The staff at the Jurong East branch were warm, supportive, and professional, and Mr. Roger’s guidance made a tremendous difference. June felt comfortable and well-supported throughout her learning journey.

The materials provided were relevant and effective, and the team was always helpful and flexible in arranging make-up classes or alternative schedules when needed.

Thank you, illum.e, and especially Mr. Roger, for your dedication and commitment to our child’s O-Level success. We truly appreciate all your hard work.

I was a student of illume in 2025 ( I joined halfway throught the year) for the subject GP. I was taught by MrLiew and his lessons were wonderful. His lessons are always well prepared and MrLiew always make sure all his explanations are well elaborated in a way that is clear and easy to understand for everyone. MrLiew is also very patient and takes time to explain the mistakes that I and other students make. Before illume, I was very weak in GP and did not understand how to properly structure my essays, AQ and the SAQ formats, but thanks to MrLiew, I have a much much netter understanding especially for SAQs which really helped me improve in GP and i jumped 3 grades from mid years to prelims. MrLiew has greatly helped me in this short span of a few months!

9. LitHumanities Tuition

Overview of Business

LitHumanities Tuition, presented through Literature and Humanities specialist Mdm Yu, includes secondary 2 English and Humanities combination sessions. This is directly relevant for families seeking lower secondary support, although parents should confirm how much lesson time is assigned specifically to Social Studies within the selected combination. Mdm Yu is NIE-trained, holds a Master’s in Literary Studies from NUS and has more than 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience. Lower secondary Humanities teaching covers essential concepts, source work, question-type practice, scaffolding and presentation of findings. Social Studies support also includes guided practice, answer templates, supplemented notes, inference skills and monitored timing. Flexible multi-subject sessions may suit a child with overlapping English and Humanities weaknesses, while a child requiring intensive Social Studies correction might benefit more from a dedicated subject arrangement if one is currently available.

Why Parents Choose LitHumanities Tuition?

Parents may consider LitHumanities Tuition when their child needs support across Social Studies and another language-heavy subject rather than isolated weekly classes. Scaffolding and guided practice can reduce helplessness when a child does not know how to begin analysing a source. Mdm Yu’s training and long experience may also appeal to families seeking continuity from lower secondary foundations into later examinations. Parents should compare combination and single-subject formats carefully, since dividing lesson time across subjects involves a trade-off between depth and convenience.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography, Literature, Social Studies (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • Scaffolded source work breaks demanding analysis into manageable stages, helping children begin answers with greater confidence.
  • Guided practice lets the tutor correct inference and evidence use before children attempt similar questions independently.
  • Answer templates provide temporary structure for uncertain writers while supplemented notes strengthen the content supporting each explanation.
  • Timed practice monitors pacing, helping children avoid spending too long on early sources and rushing later responses.
  • Combination sessions can prioritise weaker subjects, offering flexibility when English and Humanities difficulties reinforce one another.

Location and Availability

Tuition is available near Orchard MRT and at Tampines locations close to train connections. Secondary 2 combination sessions are scheduled on Saturdays, subject to current availability.

Price Range

Families should contact LitHumanities Tuition directly to ask about the exact tuition rates and any administrative charge.

10. Ancourage Academy

Overview of the Business

Ancourage Academy is an MOE-registered learning centre established in 2024, offering small-group tuition at its Bishan and Woodlands branches. Classes usually have three to six students, with most groups comprising three or four, which may suit secondary 2 children who stay quiet when unfamiliar Social studies issues arise. Selected Humanities tuition is available within the G2 and G3 subject pathways. Academic Director Min Hui has more than 11 years of teaching experience, while lessons follow a consistent structure that combines recall, questioning and gradual scaffolding. Children may attend lessons in person or join live online classes. This flexibility may help families work around CCA commitments and travel time while keeping regular Humanities revision on track.

Why Parents Choose Ancourage Academy?

Parents may consider Ancourage Academy when their child needs closer questioning and feedback rather than another large, lecture-style Social studies class. Small groups may give quieter secondary 2 children more chances to explain an inference, defend an interpretation or clarify how evidence supports a claim. Termly progress reports, annual parent-teacher consultations and WhatsApp homework support may also help parents identify whether weaker results come from content gaps, source interpretation or incomplete responses. Since Social studies is offered under selected Humanities tuition, families should confirm the exact subject arrangement before enrolling.

Ancourage has been a wonderful learning environment for students who need both academic support and encouragement. The teachers are patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping each child improve. Lessons are well-structured, and the guidance given goes beyond just completing homework — they focus on building strong foundations and confidence.

It’s inspiring to see how much effort the team puts into refining their teaching methods and supporting every student’s growth. The steady improvement in students’ performance clearly reflects their dedication. Highly recommended for parents looking for a tuition centre that truly cares!

Started off as a trial class for my 5-year-old, and Teacher Angie immediately noticed her creativity and love for colours and concepts. We’ve been with the school for many months now, and my child truly enjoys every lesson. Teacher Angie motivates and guides her with such kindness — like an angel — helping her build the confidence and imagination to create her own ideas, even at just from 4 - 5 years old. This extra curriculum lesson is good for keeps and release their daily tension thru an artwork and a brush! Thank you Teacher Angie!

Ancourage Tuition has really helped me improve a lot, especially my confidence when answering challenging maths questions. The classes are effective and easy to follow, and the teachers actually make sure you understand what you’re learning. Teacher Min is especially great, super patient with me and always explains things clearly, even when I completely forget about basics i should by right already know. You can tell she really cares about her students. Definitely recommend this place if you want a chill but effective tuition.

I’ve really enjoyed my math tuition lessons with Teacher Min! She explains concepts clearly and makes even the difficult topics much easier to understand. I like how patient she is whenever I make mistakes, and she always gives helpful tips and step by step guidance. Her lessons are engaging, well-structured, and I’ve seen a big improvement in my results and confidence in math since joining her class. I’m very grateful for her support and highly recommend Teacher Min to anyone looking for a kind, dedicated, and effective math teacher! 😀

  • Socratic questioning encourages children to justify interpretations instead of giving unsupported statements during source-based practice.
  • Guided worked examples demonstrate response structure before children attempt similar Social studies questions more independently.
  • Error analysis identifies weak inference, evidence selection and explanation, allowing feedback to address the actual marking gap.
  • Gradually reduced scaffolding may build confidence while preventing children from becoming dependent on fixed answer templates.

How to Choose the Best Secondary 2 Social Studies Tuition for Your Child?

The best secondary 2 Social Studies tuition matches your child’s present syllabus, learning pathway and confidence rather than simply carrying the most familiar name. Some options above provide confirmed secondary 2 Humanities, personalised tutoring or transition programmes, while others list regular Social Studies classes mainly from secondary 3. Programme eligibility therefore deserves careful attention. Consider the following points before committing.

  • Confirm the exact entry level first, because an O Level-focused class may assume knowledge and answering skills your secondary 2 child has not developed.
  • Match teaching to current weaknesses carefully, choosing source analysis, structured writing or content support according to where marks and confidence are actually being lost.
  • Assess feedback depth and tutor experience, since frequent, specific marking may matter more than extra worksheets when weak explanations keep recurring.
  • Compare class size with learning behaviour, as quieter children may need closer prompting while confident speakers could benefit from wider peer discussion.
  • Balance location, scheduling and total budget, accounting for travel after CCA, lesson duration, monthly commitments and whether online attendance remains genuinely engaging.
  • Read reviews for useful recurring patterns, focusing on comments about clarity, responsiveness and marking rather than assuming another child’s grade improvement will transfer.

A trial lesson or detailed conversation with the tutor can reveal whether explanations suit your child and whether the work is pitched appropriately. Ask to see how the programme handles the precise Social Studies or Humanities pathway taught at school, particularly where a centre’s published information does not state the entry grade clearly. Choose the arrangement that makes misconceptions easier to discuss, practice sustainable and progress visible, without overloading an already demanding secondary 2 timetable.
