Free Request For Tuition

Choosing among the Top 10 Secondary History Tuition Centres in Singapore can feel difficult when your child remembers events but struggles to interpret sources, compare perspectives or structure convincing essays. History tuition should address these specific gaps rather than simply add more notes to an already heavy school workload. Some children need close marking and patient correction, while others benefit from discussion, timed practice or a clearer framework for source-based questions. This guide compares programme focus, teaching approach, class size, locations, fees and support across ten secondary History tuition centres. It may help parents identify an arrangement that fits their child’s syllabus, confidence level and weekly routine without assuming that the largest class or most intensive programme is automatically the right choice.

Key Takeaways

  • Effective secondary History tuition should combine accurate content knowledge with source analysis, essay planning, evidence selection and clear argument development.
  • Class size matters most when children need regular marking, targeted feedback or encouragement to explain their historical reasoning instead of staying quiet.
  • Compare syllabus fit, tutor experience, lesson format, travel time and fees before deciding whether group, hybrid or one-to-one support suits your child.

MindFlex – Your Best Platform for Secondary History Home Tuition

Overview of Business

MindFlex Tuition Agency connects Singapore families with private tutors who can provide personalised secondary History tuition at home or online. Rather than following one fixed classroom programme, MindFlex matches each child according to their syllabus, academic level, schedule, budget and preferred tutor profile. A suitable tutor may reinforce lower secondary foundations or support upper secondary preparation for History, Humanities, O Level and N Level requirements. Lessons can concentrate on source interpretation, chronology, essay arguments, evidence selection and recurring weaknesses in school assignments. With more than 50,000 active tutors in its network, MindFlex gives parents options across different qualifications and teaching styles. This model may suit children who need lesson pacing and feedback adjusted closely, rather than competing for attention in a larger group.

Why Parents Choose MindFlex?

Parents may choose MindFlex when their child needs individual History guidance that fits around school, CCA and examination commitments. Its free matching service allows families to compare tutor profiles without paying agency fees or making an immediate commitment. Coordinators are available seven days a week, while TUTOR EXPRESS™ may provide suitable profiles within six hours for urgent requests. One-to-one tuition may particularly help a quiet child who avoids asking questions, needs detailed essay marking or repeatedly misreads source-based questions despite knowing the content.

It has truly been a blessing to find Mr. Tan Tiam Teng as my son’s Chinese tutor. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated—qualities that have made a huge difference in my son’s learning journey. My Primary 4 son has shown remarkable improvement in his Chinese since starting lessons, and we are so grateful for the progress.

Beyond the academic results, Mr. Tan’s teaching style has built my son’s confidence and interest in the subject. He is punctual, pleasant disposition and understands what a child needs. The entire experience with Mind Flex has also been very pleasant, professional, and supportive.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tutor who genuinely cares and delivers excellent results

Friendly, pleasant, swift, helpful and most importantly not pushy

MindFlex has also brought together practical details about each option below, including teaching features, locations, fees and current Google review widgets where available. 1. The Humanities Clinic

Overview of the Business

The Humanities Clinic is a humanities-focused tuition centre offering secondary 3 and secondary 4 History tuition for Elective and Pure History students. Its O Level programme covers source inference, political language, contextual knowledge, timelines and structured essay writing, rather than depending mainly on content memorisation. Secondary classes are capped at eight students, giving quieter teens more opportunities to speak up and receive feedback on weaker answers. Co-founders Ms Lynette Tan and Ms Teo Min Shuen have over 15 and 10 years of teaching experience respectively, including O Level History curriculum development. Lessons also include concise notes, cheat sheets, guided examples, homework and exam-paper practice. Among secondary History tuition centres in Singapore, this focused approach may suit teens who understand historical events but struggle to interpret sources, organise factors or present clear arguments under timed conditions.

Why Parents Choose The Humanities Clinic

Parents may consider The Humanities Clinic when their teen needs more individual correction than a large lecture class might offer. The eight-student class cap encourages discussion while helping tutors spot weak inferences, unsupported claims and poorly organised essays. Its ECCE formula brings together answering techniques, curated materials, critical-thinking discussions and higher-order questions, which may help teens move beyond memorised responses. Round-the-clock WhatsApp support can also be helpful during revision, especially when schoolwork or CCA commitments push questions until later. Reported student outcomes are encouraging, though families should still weigh teaching fit, effort and consistency rather than expect guaranteed grades.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Ms Teo for her dedication and guidance in helping my son achieve As in both H2 History and General Paper in the A-Level exams. Ms Teo teaches him to think critically, structure his arguments and write with clarity and precision. Her materials are up-to-date and well-curated. More importantly, she is very attentive to student’s progress. She ensures they keep pace with school, identifies areas for improvement early and prepares them thoroughly for tests and examinations. For General Paper, Ms Teo’s lessons were equally impactful. Her lessons are structured, engaging, and focused on building both content knowledge and writing skills. There is very regular practice on Paper 1 essays and Paper 2 comprehension. This consistency helped my son improve steadily over time. Despite her busy schedule, Ms. Teo is always responsive to students’ questions and is willing to go the extra mile, especially in the lead-up to major exams. She creates a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help. I am deeply thankful for the impact she has had on my son’s learning journey. I would highly recommend Ms Teo to any student looking to excel in H2 History and General Paper.

Miss Teo was truly a lifesaver during my A-Level journey. She guided me clearly through the new History syllabus, breaking down complex topics and exam requirements in a way that was easy to understand and apply.

Her notes were extremely high quality — concise, well-structured, and tailored exactly to what examiners look out for. The model answers she provided were especially helpful in showing me how to structure my essays and develop strong evaluation.

Most importantly, she helped turn a very lost and uncertain student into someone who eventually attained an A. I’m genuinely grateful for her patience, clarity, and dedication. I would highly recommend her if you are looking to improve your History grades.

Janice is taught by 2 dedicated teachers - Ms Teo (English) & Ms Tan (History, Social Studies & Geography).
Under their effective coaching and using concise easy-to-understand notes, Janice managed an A1 for English, Combined Humanities and Pure Geography respectively.
Ms Teo and Ms Tan have been a strong pillar of support to Janice during the O-Levels examinations period by constantly encouraging her and even provided her complimentary extra lesson time.
I absolutely recommend The Humanities Clinic to all parents if their children need that extra boost of confidence to score better in their studies!

  • Secondary English (Sec 1-4)

2. IQ & EQ Education

Overview of Business

IQ & EQ Education is an MOE-registered tuition centre serving eastern Singapore, with regular secondary History tuition among its Humanities offerings. It has 21 years of tutoring experience and teaches in small focus groups of four to six children during two-hour sessions. History instruction concentrates on interpreting question requirements, writing pointed answers and using notes supported by empirical examples. This emphasis matters because children often lose marks by narrating everything they remember instead of selecting evidence that addresses the exact command word. Teachers also focus on interest, confidence and improvement rather than rote learning, changing their approach when an explanation does not work. Parents receive progress updates, while weaker children may receive extra classes, making the programme relevant for those needing sustained correction rather than occasional examination tips.

Why Parents Choose IQ & EQ Education?

Parents often shortlist IQ & EQ Education because groups of four to six may give tutors time to notice vague explanations and poorly selected evidence. Two-hour lessons allow space for content review, question interpretation and written application instead of rushing through notes. Regular communication may reassure parents who feel uncertain about whether their child is improving between school assessments. Flexible replacement arrangements and extra support for weaker children may also suit families managing CCA clashes or a child who needs reinforcement after an unsuccessful first explanation.

3. Herzen

Overview of the Business

Herzen Centre For History is a History-specialist tuition centre offering Lower Secondary History, O Level Elective History, O Level Pure History, N(A) Level Elective History and N(A) Level Pure History. This focused subject scope may suit families comparing secondary History tuition centres in Singapore, rather than searching for a general tuition school. Lessons cover Source-Based Questions, Structured Essay Questions, content understanding, critical evaluation, exam technique, time management and writing stamina. Head History teacher Anthony Choong leads curriculum development, while Steve Chang teaches lower secondary students with a focus on source interpretation and clear writing. Since every class takes place online, students can attend from home after school or CCA instead of spending extra time travelling. Notes are included, alongside real-time writing practice and corrections that may help students recognise and address mistakes during lessons.

Why Parents Choose Herzen

Parents may consider Herzen when their child remembers historical facts but finds it difficult to turn them into focused, well-supported answers. Each class has no more than five or six students, which may create more opportunities for individual feedback than a larger online lecture. The History-only focus can also support students who need closer guidance with source evaluation, essay structure and question interpretation, rather than broad revision advice. A free 30-minute one-to-one trial allows the tutor to discuss paper weaknesses, learning preferences and expectations before families commit to regular lessons.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary History (Sec 1-4)

Teaching Methodology

  • Tutors show students how to apply selected key content across questions, reducing reliance on excessive rote memorisation.
  • Real-time writing and immediate corrections help students spot unclear arguments before these habits become firmly established.
  • Source-Based Question practice develops the interpretation, comparison and evaluation skills needed to write more precise responses.
  • Structured Essay Question guidance teaches students to organise evidence into concise arguments rather than reproduce memorised notes.
  • Small online classes allow individual feedback, while collaborative Google Slides activities make each student’s reasoning visible to tutors.

Location and Availability

All secondary History tuition classes are conducted online using collaborative Google Slides, giving families islandwide access while reducing travel demands after school, CCA and other commitments.

Price Range

Lessons cost $50 per hour and usually run for two hours. Herzen also offers a free 30-minute one-to-one trial lesson with the student’s prospective tutor.

4. illum.e

Overview of Business

illum.e is an MOE-registered tuition centre offering secondary History across upper secondary, O Level and Full Subject-Based Banding pathways. Its Humanities options include Pure History and Combined Humanities involving History and Social Studies, with support for G1, G2 and G3 learners from Secondary 2 onwards. Lessons combine lectures, targeted practice, immediate feedback, in-house notes, infographics, mind maps and examination-paper work. An average teacher-child ratio of 1:8 may give tutors scope to identify whether lost marks come from weak content, source analysis or incomplete explanation. Tutors use structured Thinking Frames and examine the root causes behind repeated mistakes rather than merely correcting the final answer. With six campuses and hybrid options for older children, illum.e may suit families wanting a structured History programme with geographical and scheduling flexibility.

Why Parents Choose illum.e?

Parents may choose illum.e for its combination of structured answering systems, small-group attention and multiple lesson formats. Thinking Frames may help children who feel overwhelmed when deciding how to begin a source-based response or organise an essay. Targeted practice and on-the-spot feedback allow mistakes to be addressed while the child still remembers their reasoning. The six-campus network, consultations and hybrid availability may also appeal to families seeking consistent secondary History tuition without adding excessive travel time to an already demanding school week.

Before joining illum.e, I was scoring badly for GP up until promos in J1. I did not understand how GP worked and what was even required to score well in GP. After joining illum.e in J2, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo's lessons made me understand that GP was actually very much doable. Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would also always make the extra effort to help me mark and provide feedback on areas for improvement promptly. Would definitely recommend anyone considering a GP tuition centre to join illum.e!

I enrolled into Illume in 2024 in Mr Chia and Mr Yeo class at Jurong East campus, and throughout the 1.5 years in illume, I managed to improve my GP significantly through the structured classes and lectures. The lesson materials were useful since it provided easy to remember methods and strategies to tackle the broad subject requirements. Additionally Mr Chia and Mr Yeo were engaging and frequently put in the effort to make our lessons fun and interesting. Furthermore, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would take time to consult with us and check our essay outlines or comprehension questions outside of lesson hours or during exam periods, even if they were very busy. Overall, illume has helped me not only in scoring an A for GP but also equip me with general knowledge about local and global affairs, which are valuable when entering the workforce in the future.

Mr Chia played the biggest role in helping me achieve an A for GP during my A Levels. Before attending his classes, I was completely clueless about how to write good essays, as the help given by my school teachers was too vague and confusing. I am very grateful to Mr Chia, who taught me how to use illum.e’s very own skill sets to dissect question types and keyword types, which are the keys to answering any type of essay question.

I truly appreciate that in every single lesson, Mr Chia made it a point to review every student’s answers and provide personalised feedback to target the weaknesses in our responses and teach us how to improve. I also liked that he engaged with his students in class to ensure that we were following him and to liven up the atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised when I wrote at least three additional essays for Mr Chia to mark and he returned them to me with fully annotated scripts showing where I could improve. Every piece of feedback was immensely useful. (He was not obliged to mark them at all.) This showed his dedication and responsibility towards helping his students.

As for comprehension, I went from barely passing to getting an A during prelims. Similarly, I would credit this improvement to Mr Chia. He was very encouraging, even when the class struggled to paraphrase certain words.

Finally, even though I only joined his classes in April of J2, I was able to see myself doing better in GP at school after applying the feedback Mr Chia gave. This shows how experienced he is in knowing exactly what his students need to do to perform better in the subject.

I 100% recommend juniors who feel uncertain about GP to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My English teacher, Mr. Chia from Illum Education (Jurong East), played a huge role in helping me achieve a B3 in my National Examinations.

When I first joined in mid-May, I was barely passing with around 50 marks. Even close to Prelims in late July, I was still stuck at 55 and extremely worried about my actual exams. After consulting Mr. Chia, the improvement I saw within just three weeks was honestly insane.

He didn’t just teach me content; he fixed my exam strategy. For Paper 1 (especially Situational Writing), I used to write the wrong things and overwrite. He taught me how to write less but include the right points to score higher. For Paper 2, I used to struggle to find answers in the passage, but after his guidance, it became much easier.

What really stood out was his care and dedication. Despite being busy, he still took time to mark my extra work and patiently answer my questions after lessons. He always checked in to make sure I had no doubts.

If you want results, Mr. Chia is the teacher you need. Highly recommended.

Mr Roger was my teacher at Illum.e. I joined midway through Sec 4, and many people questioned why I decided to start tuition so close to my O Levels. Previously, I believed I could self-study and still achieve a good grade for English. However, after receiving my WA1 and WA2 results, I realised my grades were declining from a C6 to a D7. That was when I told my mum that I needed tuition.

During my time at Illum.e, I learnt a lot from Mr Roger. He always took the time to explain every detail clearly, especially words or concepts that students were unsure of. Beyond that, Illum.e taught us how to approach questions based on what markers are actually looking for. This helped me understand how to answer effectively without overthinking or overwriting during exams.

As a result, I was able to manage my time much better in my actual O Levels. I am truly grateful to Illum.e and for my own hard work, which helped me achieve a B3 for my English O Levels.

My child’s English grade improved significantly from E8 to an A, and we are extremely grateful to illum.e.

After just one visit, we decided to entrust our child to the centre, and it proved to be the right decision. The staff at the Jurong East branch were warm, supportive, and professional, and Mr. Roger’s guidance made a tremendous difference. June felt comfortable and well-supported throughout her learning journey.

The materials provided were relevant and effective, and the team was always helpful and flexible in arranging make-up classes or alternative schedules when needed.

Thank you, illum.e, and especially Mr. Roger, for your dedication and commitment to our child’s O-Level success. We truly appreciate all your hard work.

Its wider Humanities provision includes Social Studies and Geography, which can be useful when a child’s combined subject requires coordinated examination preparation. Classes generally contain four to eight children, with personalised materials, progressive learning and periodic parent updates. Lessons are aligned with the MOE syllabus and move from understanding content towards handling more demanding questions, rather than assuming practice alone will fix unclear foundations. Free homework clinics give enrolled children another opportunity to clarify school tasks or unresolved lesson questions. With many branches across Singapore and live online classes for Secondary 1 to Secondary 4, EduFirst may appeal to families prioritising convenience, structured support and access to help beyond the scheduled History lesson.

Why Parents Choose EduFirst Learning Centre?

Parents may shortlist EduFirst Learning Centre when their child needs History support near home without sacrificing small-group interaction. Classes of four to eight can provide peer discussion while remaining manageable for individual feedback and progress monitoring. Free homework clinics may help children who become stuck on source-based assignments between lessons, especially when parents feel unable to guide the subject confidently. Its islandwide network and online classes also reduce scheduling pressure for families balancing tuition with school dismissal times, CCA training and other subject commitments.

I discovered this Student Care Centre (SCC) sprouted up in the Geylang East neighbourhood and I really find that they have the heart to care for our children. They take the effort to cook healthy and good lunch and also cater extra for the children in case they are hungry.

As for tuition, I personally find teachers Rui Le and Charlotte will make the effort to set individualized questions for my kids to prep them for their Weighted Assessment (WA).

So keep up the good work!

I have been sending my children to EduFirst (Aljunied) ever since they opened the branch in 2020. Teacher Wendy (centre manager) is patient and effective when arranging for make-up lessons (since my children are involved in many enrichment programmes). Teacher Jonas is a teacher who goes the extra mile and ensures that his students can understand the concepts. Teacher Celeste is a teacher who excels at teaching POA, and helped my son score an A1.

My son has been there for almost 2 years now and I am full of praises for this centre! I love their curriculum and the in-house tuition. My son also enjoys their freshly cooked food. Teacher Wendy has been wonderful in managing the whole centre and Teacher Eugene has been a great teacher to my son. My son enjoys his time there and I will be enrolling my daughter next year too. Will definitely recommend this student care to others who need one!

My boy joined Edufirst since he started Primary 1 last year. The centre manager Wendy and teacher Eugene take strong ownership in running the centre effectively and pushing the students academically. From checking and guiding the students’ work to making them learn their spelling. They also give the students extra worksheets and practice to uphold learning standards. Teacher Eugene even requested that I continue to send my boy to the centre regularly, during the school holidays, so that he can maintain his Chinese learning progress. They provide prompt feedback to parents always. Very thankful to have such responsible centre manager and teachers.

6. Zenith Education Studio

Overview of Business

Zenith Education Studio provides upper secondary History tuition for Pure and Combined pathways within its secondary Humanities programmes. Established in 2019, it reports serving more than 20,000 children across its courses and an 80% O Level distinction rate across the organisation. History teaching follows a Learn-Understand-Apply approach, combining content mastery, memory techniques, curated questions, critical-thinking exercises and discussion-based learning. Materials may include notes, model answers, past papers and revision guides, giving children several ways to connect factual knowledge with examination requirements. Support extends beyond class through consultations and online help, which can matter when a child needs feedback while revising independently. Zenith may suit children who prefer energetic group learning and extensive academic support, although parents should consider whether its class format matches the amount of individual History marking required.

Why Parents Choose Zenith Education Studio?

Parents may consider Zenith Education Studio for a child who benefits from structured resources, active discussion and accessible support outside regular lessons. The Learn-Understand-Apply sequence may prevent revision from becoming a cycle of memorising model essays without understanding why an argument works. Curated questions and past papers give children practice in transferring knowledge across unfamiliar wording. With numerous branches, free trial classes and online assistance, families can assess both travel convenience and teaching fit before committing to an ongoing secondary History tuition schedule.

If you asked me what it means to be a bubbly, food loving critic that is competent and skilled in teaching Chemistry, there’s only one name that comes to mind. OSN - Ong Shi Neng ☃️

Since the first lesson he has been relentless in ensuring quality education, good eats and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Chemistry in Zenith for the past 1.5 years have truly been like no other. The teachers are caring and helpful, reassuring us that we are prepared, organising 24 hour zooms the night before, just so we can feel a bit more secure the day before the exam. It is no surprise that he is one of Zenith’s most beloved tutors. #Notfreepromo

I attended Chenfang's E-Math classes from Sec 3 to 4 and it really was an amazing experience to be learning with her!

In Sec 4, I jumped from a C6 for Prelims to a B3 for O's, something I thought I wouldn't be able to achieve. Chenfang helped me to understand what my weak points were through weekly assessments and so I improved steadily. Her classes are also really fun since she makes sure that we are not just studying but enjoying the process!
The worksheets at Zenith also helped a lot as there were many diverse types of questions that helped with gradual and thorough understanding, with extras for practice at home! The snacks were also a real help for staying focused in class 🙂

I joined Nick's class in sec 3 for physics and he has helped me get good grades for physics throughout my upper sec and eventually get a1 for o levels. Without Nick I do not think I would have achieved such a good score. He is a very good teacher and makes lessons feel fun and explains concepts very well, I have not been lost or confused once in his lessons throughout my two years with him. I look forward to his classes every week and he made me fall in love with physics.😍😍 He also helps me with physics questions outside of lesson time when I whatsapp him especially when I was preparing for my exams.👍👍👍

I attended Nicholas Koh’s classes when I realised I was failing Chemistry and Physics in my Sec 3 WA2s. He helped pull my grades up from an F9 to an A2 for my O Levels! I truly appreciate his help so much. He is understanding, yet he also challenges me and strongly believes in my potential. His lessons are unlike those of other tutors who simply spoon-feed information instead, he makes sure new concepts are thoroughly drilled into your head so you truly understand them. Thank you Nick you genuinely changed my life. You’re the best!

Shi Neng chemistry class is so good. Like everyone around me keeps saying chemistry is so hard and honestly I did find Chem hard before joining zenith Chem. However, after I went for June trial for energetics I realised how simple Chem is. Especially he helped me so much in organiche Chem by covering all the foundations and the small tiny details! I rlly recommend this class and I have gotten A /B throughout the time I have been with zenith. It’s also very fun cause he has a sense of humour HAHA !

7. Clear Minds Education Centre

Overview of Business

Clear Minds Education Centre is a Toa Payoh tuition centre offering History across lower secondary and upper secondary, including Pure and Combined pathways. Every class is capped at six children, creating room for questioning, individual feedback and closer observation of recurring examination mistakes. Its five-step ClearMinds Method™ covers diagnosis, personalisation, teaching, practice and review, with lessons aligned to current MOE requirements. For History and related Humanities, instruction develops content knowledge, source-based question skills, essay structure, argument building and constructive responses to feedback. Clear Minds Education Centre reports more than 25 years of operation, with former or ex-MOE educators among its subject specialists. This may suit children who need a methodical progression from identifying learning gaps to practising examination responses, rather than receiving more content notes without targeted correction.

Why Parents Choose Clear Minds Education Centre?

Parents may choose Clear Minds Education Centre when their child needs close History feedback within a group no larger than six. The diagnostic starting point can distinguish missing knowledge from weak source analysis or poor essay organisation, preventing tuition from treating every difficulty identically. Former or ex-MOE educators may also bring familiarity with classroom expectations and common examination errors. Its Toa Payoh location may be convenient for central Singapore families, while the low-cost first trial offers a practical way to assess classroom rapport.

Subjects Offered

  • Secondary Math (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary A Math (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary Principle of Accounts (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary English (Sec 1-5)
  • Secondary Chinese (Sec 1-4)
  • Secondary Combined Science (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary Biology
  • Secondary Chemistry
  • Secondary Physics
  • Secondary Social Studies (Sec 3-4)
  • Secondary Humanities: History, Geography (Sec 1-2)

Teaching Methodology

  • Diagnostic checks identify whether History difficulties involve content, source analysis, essay structure or examination timing.
  • Personalised lesson plans target detected gaps, helping children spend practice time where improvement is most needed.
  • Step-by-step explanations model historical reasoning before children attempt similar questions with decreasing tutor support.
  • Past examination questions develop source evaluation and structured arguments under formats children will encounter formally.
  • Termly progress tracking gives families clearer evidence of improvement than relying only on occasional school marks.

Location and Availability

Classes are held at 148 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, serving families from nearby Bishan, Novena, Ang Mo Kio, Braddell, Thomson and central neighbourhoods.

Price Range

A first trial class is available for $5. Parents should enquire with Clear Minds Education Centre directly for the exact regular rates.

8. Humanities Club

Overview of Business

Humanities Club is a Bukit Timah-based specialist offering History, Geography and Social Studies tuition for N Level and O Level examinations. Its focused Humanities offering may appeal to parents seeking tutors whose work centres on source-based questions, structured responses, essays and content application. Teachers are described as NUS Arts and Social Science graduates with PGDE or Master of Education qualifications from NIE, including former MOE educators with substantial classroom experience. The teaching approach combines skills mastery, content knowledge, examination answering techniques and support for overcoming subject anxiety. Onsite, online and hybrid formats provide alternatives for children balancing school, CCA and revision. For History learners, this specialisation may be useful when the main difficulty is not effort, but understanding how markers distinguish a descriptive response from a precise, evidence-supported explanation.

Why Parents Choose Humanities Club?

Parents may consider Humanities Club because its teaching identity is concentrated on Humanities rather than spread across many unrelated subjects. This can matter when a child needs detailed correction on inference, comparison, purpose, reliability or essay argument rather than general study supervision. Teachers with Humanities qualifications and former school experience may understand why apparently knowledgeable children still lose marks through weak question interpretation. Online and hybrid choices also provide flexibility, while the Bukit Timah classroom option suits children who engage better through direct discussion.

Recently my son have received his O level results, he is very grateful that his Hum/Geo got B3 which is over his expectation. He has been struggling for this subject since in his Sec 4NA and going to 5NA.

His result for this subject is always at the range of C5 to C6. However, after sending my son to Humanities Club to provide more help, he actually improve a lot. He mentioned the ways the tutor, Mr Joshua teaches are very interesting and able to engage him to understand the topics easier. He really shows his professionlism towards his teaching and wanting his students to improve and achieve better grade.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the guidances and patiences. I strongly recommand parents to sent their child to Humanities Club for help before it is too late.

I am extremely grateful to Joshua and Ms Ellie for their outstanding support in helping me improve in Geography and Social Studies. Their lessons were well-structured, clear, and tailored to my learning needs. They explained complex concepts in a way that was easy to understand and always took the time to ensure I fully grasped the content.

What stood out most was their patience, encouragement, and consistent guidance in exam techniques, answering strategies, and time management. Because of their dedication and commitment, my confidence improved significantly and I was able to achieve an A1 for both subjects.

I highly recommend them to any student who wants to strengthen their understanding and perform well academically. Thank you, Joshua and Ms Ellie, for making such a positive difference in my learning journey.

9. Think Teach Academy

Overview of Business

Think Teach Academy supports secondary History through Macro Academy, the Think Teach Group’s specialist arm for secondary and Junior College learners. The supported programme includes O Level History, alongside other secondary academic subjects, using an examination-oriented curriculum that still encourages inquiry, deliberation and exploration. Across the group, teaching follows a 3D framework: Decoding Questions, Devising Smart Techniques and Delivering Results. For History, this sequence may help children separate what a question requires from what they happen to remember, then select an appropriate response structure. Educators are hand-picked and trained to apply the approach consistently, while the organisation reports supporting more than 10,000 learners. Think Teach Academy may interest parents seeking a clear question-decoding framework combined with intellectual discussion rather than purely mechanical model-answer reproduction.

Why Parents Choose Think Teach Academy?

Parents may consider Think Teach Academy when their child possesses reasonable History knowledge but repeatedly misunderstands command words or chooses an unsuitable answering method. Its 3D approach begins with decoding the question, which may reduce irrelevant essays and unsupported source responses. Inquiry and deliberation can also help children test competing interpretations before writing, rather than treating History as a single fixed narrative. The group’s stated scale and educator training may appeal to families who value an established framework delivered through a consistent lesson approach.

My son had consistently been achieving AL5 in Mathematics and was unable to make a breakthrough in his results. I enrolled him with Think Teach Mathematics in the first quarter of this year. Over time, under the guidance of Teacher Fiona, I observed a visible improvement in his interest in and confidence towards Mathematics.

Teacher Fiona is a patient and caring educator who has a strong ability to simplify complex concepts and present them in a manner that is easy for students to understand. She is highly engaging in her teaching approach, regularly checks in on her students’ progress, and is always proactive in offering additional support when needed.

As a result of her dedication and commitment, my son achieved AL3 in his PSLE Mathematics. I am deeply grateful to Think Teach Mathematics and to Teacher Fiona for their unwavering commitment to their students and their learning journey.

My child’s Math and Science hovered around 70-75 in P5. He wasn’t getting tuition and I felt he needed the right guidance to improve on a few ALs. We joined Teacher Elizabeth’s Science and Teacher Fiona’s Math in P6 Term 1. Very glad that we have chosen TTA. The teachers were committed and went extra miles to help the child. TTA develops a methodology to make learning easier. Most important, the child was motivated to do well under the teachers’ coaching. The child’s grades showed progress and eventually achieved AL1/2 for PSLE. This is a testimony that TTA methodology works!

Great thanks to Ms Elizabeth and Ms Fiona for their support in this journey!

Teacher Sharon came highly recommended by a friend when we shared that he did badly for p5 EOY english. He was barely passing his Creative Writing when he started and within months, he went up to a consistent 32/36 in school learning checkpoints. Classes were never boring when teacher Sharon conducts them online.

We added on FEP classes in August when his prelims came back at AL5 (paper 2 and oral were also weak due to his dyslexia). We were impressed and encouraged at how confident Teacher Sharon was that it was not too late to help him. We also signed up for a TTA bootcamp during the sept hols. Teacher Algene went the extra mile and conducted a free boot camp in the week before PSLE, a true show of dedication. We never expected that our boy could go from AL5 to AL2 at PSLE in the span of a month! Thank you to teacher Sharon, teacher Algene, Teacher Evette and Teacher Edwin for all the constructive feedback, dedication and encouragement.

10. Inspire Education Centre

Overview of Business

Inspire Education Centre offers O Level Combined Humanities tuition covering Social Studies and History, with classes available at Orchard and Marine Parade. Established in 2007, it reports helping more than 1,200 learners improve by two to three grade bands across its programmes. History teaching includes critical thinking, essay-writing guidance, a Skills Analysis Template method, answering techniques and individual homework marking. These elements may help children who know chapter content but struggle to analyse sources, construct arguments or understand why a response received limited credit. Tutors provide targeted improvement advice and selected practice materials, allowing lessons to address weak areas rather than repeat every topic equally. Inspire Education Centre may suit families looking for examination-focused Combined Humanities support with direct marking, documented feedback and a choice between central or eastern locations.

Why Parents Choose Inspire Education Centre?

Parents may choose Inspire Education Centre when their child needs detailed correction on O Level Social Studies and History responses. Individual homework marking can expose recurring weaknesses in evidence use, question interpretation and explanation that classroom scores alone may not clarify. The Skills Analysis Template offers a repeatable approach for children who freeze when facing unfamiliar sources. Published improvement examples include Combined Humanities progress from C6 to A2, although families should still judge fit through teaching style, workload and their child’s response to feedback.

How to Choose the Best Secondary History Tuition for Your Child?

The best secondary History tuition matches your child’s actual difficulty, whether that involves content recall, source interpretation, essay structure, confidence or examination timing. A highly structured programme may suit one learner, while another needs patient questioning and detailed individual marking. Before enrolling, consider the following points with your child.

  • Identify the exact History learning gap, then choose teaching that addresses weak content, source skills, essay arguments or time management directly.
  • Match teaching style to your child, considering whether discussion, visual notes, structured frameworks, repeated practice or one-to-one explanation keeps them engaged.
  • Examine tutor experience and subject focus, especially familiarity with current secondary History requirements, Combined Humanities formats and common examination marking expectations.
  • Consider class size and feedback quality, because smaller groups matter most when your child needs frequent questioning, essay marking or encouragement to participate.
  • Balance location, scheduling and lesson format, so travelling time, CCA fatigue and online arrangements do not make consistent attendance unnecessarily difficult.
  • Compare reviews, fees and ongoing support, while checking what lessons include and whether consultations, replacement classes or progress updates justify the budget.

There is no single secondary History tuition centre that suits every family. Shortlist options that fit both academic needs and household routines, ask how tutors diagnose mistakes, and observe whether your child can explain why an answer works after several lessons. Sustainable progress usually comes from clearer reasoning and consistent correction, rather than adding more notes or pushing longer revision hours.
