Primary 4 is often the stage when English starts to feel noticeably tougher for many children. Comprehension questions become less straightforward, vocabulary expectations go up, and composition writing calls for better organisation, more detail and more maturity. So if your child was coping reasonably well before but is suddenly losing marks, or if homework has started turning into a daily struggle, the right Primary 4 English Tuition can make a meaningful difference. In this guide, we compare 10 Primary 4 English tuition centres in Singapore, together with a home tuition option, so parents can look more closely at teaching style, class format, fees and support. Whether you are considering small-group primary tuition, one-to-one help, or a more writing-focused primary English tuition centre, this list is here to help you shortlist more confidently and sensibly.

Key Takeaways

  • The best Primary 4 English Tuition option depends on whether your child mainly needs help with composition, comprehension, grammar, oral, or overall confidence.
  • Some Primary 4 tuition centres focus on small-group specialist English teaching, while others offer broader primary tuition support or one-to-one home tuition.
  • When comparing English tuition centres, parents should look beyond branding and check teaching approach, feedback quality, convenience, reviews and whether the child can keep up comfortably.

MindFlex – Your Best Platform for Primary 4 English Home Tuition

MindFlex - Your Best Platform for Primary 4 English Home Tuition

Overview of Business

MindFlex Tuition Agency is a Singapore-based home tuition agency that helps families find suitable private tutors for different subjects and levels, including Primary 4 English Tuition. Rather than running fixed classroom lessons, MindFlex matches parents with one-to-one tutors who can teach at home or online. This can be especially helpful for children who need more personalised pacing, closer correction in writing, or extra support with comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and oral skills. As Primary 4 is often the point when English standards begin to step up, some children benefit from lessons that follow their school worksheets, recent test mistakes and weaker components more closely than a standard class usually can.

Why Parents Choose MindFlex?

Many parents consider MindFlex when they want Primary 4 English tuition that feels more tailored than a fixed group lesson. A child who freezes during composition, keeps making the same grammar mistakes, or stays quiet in bigger classes may respond better to one-to-one teaching. Lessons can be arranged at home or online, which helps save travel time, and parents can review tutor profiles before deciding. For families who need help quickly after weaker results, the matching process may also feel reassuring and practical.

I’m very grateful to MindFlex, especially Alyssa and her team, for their patience and dedication in helping to source a suitable tutor for my son.

This is the 2nd time I look for them to source a tutor. This time round I had more specific requirements, including the tutor’s age group, gender and most importantly, someone who is patient and able to communicate well with students who are weaker in Chinese. Alyssa and the team were understanding, responsive and professional throughout the entire process.

They took the effort to carefully match a tutor who suits my son’s learning needs and personality. I truly appreciate their commitment and excellent service. Highly recommended for parents looking for reliable and attentive tuition support!

2. CreativeEdge Learning

2. CreativeEdge Learning

Overview of Business

CreativeEdge Learning is a boutique English specialist that focuses on Primary English and writing development from Primary 1 to Primary 6. For parents searching specifically for Primary 4 English Tuition, this narrower focus can feel reassuring because the programme is built around language skills rather than treating English as just one subject among many. CreativeEdge is especially known for composition and writing instruction, but their classes also support grammar, comprehension and oral work. Small class sizes of up to eight students mean children are less likely to disappear quietly into the background, which matters when a child has ideas in their head but struggles to express them clearly on paper.

Why Parents Choose CreativeEdge Learning?

Parents who feel their child’s English marks are being pulled down mainly by weak writing often gravitate towards CreativeEdge Learning. Their small groups may suit children who need close correction in sentence structure, planning and elaboration, rather than broad lecture-style teaching. Because Primary 4 is a transition stage into Upper Primary standards, children who still write simple or disorganised compositions can benefit from more explicit coaching. Families may also appreciate that CreativeEdge focuses only on English.

Both of my daughters have been enrolled in CreativEdge writing programme. Similarly, I can also see that my second daughter’s writing skills have been improving over the years.

Ms Low is very knowledgeable and very professional. She goes the extra mile to make sure that her students are doing well and sets goals for my children, keeping them motivated to strive to their goal. I certainly appreciate her effort and dedication in teaching my children.

I think this centre is very comprehensive in their notes, and they enable me to understand how to answer different types of questions better. The sample essays they provide allow me to better be exposed to different types of writing and how to improve my essay. The extra lessons provided for those taking major exams are also very meaningful, as well as the summary notes, because they help us to recall the lessons we had and what we have to take note of when answering the types of questions. 4. The Alternative Story

4. The Alternative Story

Overview of Business

The Alternative Story, often known as T.A.S., is a long-running English specialist that teaches both Primary and Secondary students. For parents looking at Primary 4 English Tuition, T.A.S. may be attractive because it focuses specifically on English while offering both regular English and creative writing pathways. Their curriculum is aligned with the MOE syllabus and delivered through engaging classroom methods, including media resources, quizzes and interactive activities. Primary 4 can be a delicate year, because children who once did fine in Lower Primary may suddenly stumble when comprehension becomes less literal and compositions demand stronger ideas.

Why Parents Choose The Alternative Story?

Parents often choose T.A.S. when they want English tuition that still feels lively rather than dry. This matters for Primary 4 children who are already starting to label English as boring or stressful. Their focus on making lessons engaging may help children participate more willingly, especially in oral and writing work. Families may also like that T.A.S. offers both regular English and creative writing, so support can be broader than just one component.

My son has been with TAS since Primary 2 and he was privileged to have Teacher Elaine and Teacher Joanne teaching him. Teacher Elaine is always ensuring I am kept updated on his progress and she takes time to have calls with me to go through his weak areas and how she intends to help him. It also helps that her method of teaching is well received by my son and he listens to her and applies accordingly. Teacher Joanne took on my boy when he was entering into the PSLE year. Initially, I was concerned that his learning will be affected but he was very contented to stay on with Teacher Joanne. Teacher Joanne has gone beyond herself to ensure the my boy is always encouraged and motivated. She has also provided meaningful advice and insights on how I can support my boy at home. My son has managed to hold his consistent performance under her guidance and he scored AL1 for his PSLE. Special shoutout to both Teacher Elaine and Teacher Joanne for both their dedication and unwavering support.

We are incredibly grateful to have Tr Elaine teaching both my boys. She is such a dedicated and caring English teacher and consistently goes above and beyond for her students — often giving extra lessons on her own time for the psle kids and patiently working with them on their weak areas until they improve.

What we appreciate most is how intentional she is about understanding each child’s needs and tailoring her guidance accordingly. Her commitment, encouragement and belief in her students truly make a difference.

Under her watch and guidance, my son Elliott managed to score an AL2, which we are extremely thankful for. This achievement would not have been possible without her time, effort and genuine dedication.

Highly recommended to any parent looking for a teacher who truly cares about her students’ growth and progress!

A special shout-out to Teacher Andy. My daughter genuinely enjoyed his lessons. He’s encouraging, keeps the kids engaged, and provides regular, clear feedback so we can work on her weaker areas together. His guidance was consistent and practical.

Under his guidance, my daughter achieved AL1 in her 2025 PSLE English. She was over the moon when she saw the result, and we were so proud. We’re truly grateful for Tr Andy’s commitment, care, and dedication.

To Teacher Dione,

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Teacher Dione for her dedication, patience, and support. She has been teaching my son, Gareth, since Primary 4 at TAS Jubilee Square. When Teacher Dione moved to the Djitsun Mall branch, my son chose to follow her as he likes her teaching style.

During the PSLE period, Teacher Dione went above and beyond by providing extra lesson to ensure the students were well prepared. She consistently gave constructive feedback to parents and made efforts to encourage him to participate more in class and speak up, especially since he is weaker in oral skills and tends to be quiet. Her encouragement and belief in him helped to build his confidence.

Under her good guidance, my son was able to achieve AL1 in his PSLE 2025. We are truly grateful for Teacher Dione’s commitment, care, and dedication. Thank you very much.

Please continue to do your best!

5. Creative Campus

5. Creative Campus

Overview of Business

Creative Campus is an English enrichment provider founded by two experienced curriculum leaders, with programmes from Primary to Junior College. For parents exploring Primary 4 English Tuition, Creative Campus may stand out because of its stronger-than-school academic pace and its emphasis on critical thinking alongside language skills. Their Primary programme is designed to move faster than the standard MOE pace and includes exposure to more demanding material, which may suit children who are already coping in school and need more challenge. At the same time, their small classes and personalised feedback can also benefit children who need detailed correction in writing, comprehension and oral responses.

Why Parents Choose Creative Campus?

Creative Campus often appeals to parents who want a more intellectually stretching form of Primary 4 English Tuition. Their lessons bring in current affairs, media analysis and critical thinking, which may help children express ideas with more maturity rather than memorising formulaic phrases. Small classes also mean written work can receive more personalised comments. For stronger readers and writers, the faster pace may prevent boredom, while tailored guidance may still help children who need careful correction.

6. EduEdge

6. EduEdge

Overview of Business

EduEdge is a specialist English and General Paper provider, which means their entire setup is built around language teaching rather than spreading attention across many unrelated subjects. For families considering Primary 4 English Tuition, that subject focus may be a key draw. EduEdge teaches English through its Formula-Style method and Total English Mastery System, aiming to make language learning feel more structured and systematic. This can be useful for children who do not improve simply by being told to read more or practice harder.

Why Parents Choose EduEdge?

Parents who want English taught in a very explicit, teachable way often consider EduEdge. Their Formula-Style approach can feel reassuring when a child is confused by vague school advice such as “elaborate more” or “answer more precisely”. Instead of relying on instinctive language ability, EduEdge tries to break English into formulas and sub-skills. The diagnostic consultation is another practical feature for parents who know their child is underperforming but cannot tell where the root issue lies.

Before joining EduEdge, I consistently scored around C6 for my English assessments and struggled to see any real improvement. I often felt stuck and unsure of how to raise my grades.

After joining EduEdge midway through my Secondary 3 year, I began to see gradual improvement through their step-by-step formulas and clear guidance. The lessons gave me a clearer structure for approaching English, and my EduEdge teachers consistently encouraged me while providing relevant and actionable feedback.

By applying the formulas to every English practice and assessment, I gradually gained more confidence in my writing and comprehension. This helped me improve from my usual C6s to an A2 for English in my prelims.

Ultimately, EduEdge guided and supported me throughout the journey, helping me improve significantly and achieve an A1 for English in the O-Levels.

My full name is Meldon Zhang, and I’m from Class S1.3.I joined Eduedge last year around April, and my English grade around that time was AL 5, which I wanted to improve. I used to have many problems with composition and comprehension, but after joining Eduedge I realised that my average grade was gradually increasing over the months! For PSLE, I got an AL 3, which, to be honest , was not what I hoped for but still was a big improvement. One of the Eduedge styles that helped me a ton is the 3S strategy which helped me improve in comprehension questions specifically. It’s also my favourite technique because it was easy to understand and apply in actual tests. Overall, Eduedge is great if you want to increase your grades in English.

Hi my name is Chan Suan Zann Elise
I am currently in S1.3
I joined EduEdge in 2025, in the middle of the year. My English grade was slipping from AL3 , and I was close to being an AL4 student. After joining EduEdge and learning all the techniques, my grade has jumped to AL2. EduEdge has really helped me in my comprehension and multiple choice questions, which really pulled my english grades up. The 3S answering strategy not only helped me learn how to break down the questions and the passage, but also helped me understand the questions better, which is why it is also my favourite technique.

Before joining EduEdge, I was really scared of English and unsure of how to revise properly. I often felt lost when preparing for tests and did not know how to improve.

After joining EduEdge, I became much clearer about what to do and how to revise effectively. The teachers taught me helpful techniques to tackle different types of questions, which made revision more structured and manageable.

The materials were very detailed and well prepared, and they gave me a lot of new knowledge and clearer understanding of the subject. Mr Kiat’s humour also made lessons less boring, which motivated me to stay focused and learn better.

Overall, EduEdge helped me feel more confident in English and much better prepared going into my O-Level exams. I am very thankful for the support and guidance throughout the journey.

Hi, I'm Aden Goh Jun xi and I'm in S1.2.
When I joined EduEdge in the first quarter of 2025, my English grade back then was AL4. Back then, I was facing challenges both with Oral and Composition.
After joining EduEdge, my English grade is now AL1 (do note I got day 2 El oral)
In P5 I genuinely got AL4 in total (for English)
The techniques that have supported me the most is CAB (character, appearance, behaviour) and 3S answering strategies. My favourite technique is CAB as it carried my composition(literally a sixth of my compo) and it also helps me think up ideas for characters easier.
My favourite part about the lessons is that they are consise.

7. illum.e

7. illum.e

Overview of Business

illum.e is an MOE-registered education provider known for English, Humanities and General Paper, with several centres across Singapore. For parents searching for Primary 4 English Tuition, illum.e may stand out because of its strong English specialisation and its emphasis on teaching children how to think, not just what to memorise. That matters in Primary 4, when comprehension answers become less straightforward and children need to explain, infer and justify more clearly. Their middle primary programme is designed to strengthen reading, writing, listening and speaking through interactive methods, while also providing personalised support within small classes.

Why Parents Choose illum.e?

Parents may be drawn to illum.e because it tries to address the root cause of mistakes instead of only assigning more practice. This can be helpful for Primary 4 children who keep repeating the same comprehension or grammar errors even after doing many worksheets. Their Thinking Frames method may suit children who need guidance on how to organise thoughts before answering or writing. Small classes are another practical advantage, especially for quieter children who need teachers to notice weak habits early.

Before joining illum.e, I was scoring badly for GP up until promos in J1. I did not understand how GP worked and what was even required to score well in GP. After joining illum.e in J2, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo's lessons made me understand that GP was actually very much doable. Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would also always make the extra effort to help me mark and provide feedback on areas for improvement promptly. Would definitely recommend anyone considering a GP tuition centre to join illum.e!

I enrolled into Illume in 2024 in Mr Chia and Mr Yeo class at Jurong East campus, and throughout the 1.5 years in illume, I managed to improve my GP significantly through the structured classes and lectures. The lesson materials were useful since it provided easy to remember methods and strategies to tackle the broad subject requirements. Additionally Mr Chia and Mr Yeo were engaging and frequently put in the effort to make our lessons fun and interesting. Furthermore, Mr Chia and Mr Yeo would take time to consult with us and check our essay outlines or comprehension questions outside of lesson hours or during exam periods, even if they were very busy. Overall, illume has helped me not only in scoring an A for GP but also equip me with general knowledge about local and global affairs, which are valuable when entering the workforce in the future.

Mr Chia played the biggest role in helping me achieve an A for GP during my A Levels. Before attending his classes, I was completely clueless about how to write good essays, as the help given by my school teachers was too vague and confusing. I am very grateful to Mr Chia, who taught me how to use illum.e’s very own skill sets to dissect question types and keyword types, which are the keys to answering any type of essay question.

I truly appreciate that in every single lesson, Mr Chia made it a point to review every student’s answers and provide personalised feedback to target the weaknesses in our responses and teach us how to improve. I also liked that he engaged with his students in class to ensure that we were following him and to liven up the atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised when I wrote at least three additional essays for Mr Chia to mark and he returned them to me with fully annotated scripts showing where I could improve. Every piece of feedback was immensely useful. (He was not obliged to mark them at all.) This showed his dedication and responsibility towards helping his students.

As for comprehension, I went from barely passing to getting an A during prelims. Similarly, I would credit this improvement to Mr Chia. He was very encouraging, even when the class struggled to paraphrase certain words.

Finally, even though I only joined his classes in April of J2, I was able to see myself doing better in GP at school after applying the feedback Mr Chia gave. This shows how experienced he is in knowing exactly what his students need to do to perform better in the subject.

I 100% recommend juniors who feel uncertain about GP to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My English teacher, Mr. Chia from Illum Education (Jurong East), played a huge role in helping me achieve a B3 in my National Examinations.

When I first joined in mid-May, I was barely passing with around 50 marks. Even close to Prelims in late July, I was still stuck at 55 and extremely worried about my actual exams. After consulting Mr. Chia, the improvement I saw within just three weeks was honestly insane.

He didn’t just teach me content; he fixed my exam strategy. For Paper 1 (especially Situational Writing), I used to write the wrong things and overwrite. He taught me how to write less but include the right points to score higher. For Paper 2, I used to struggle to find answers in the passage, but after his guidance, it became much easier.

What really stood out was his care and dedication. Despite being busy, he still took time to mark my extra work and patiently answer my questions after lessons. He always checked in to make sure I had no doubts.

If you want results, Mr. Chia is the teacher you need. Highly recommended.

Mr Roger was my teacher at Illum.e. I joined midway through Sec 4, and many people questioned why I decided to start tuition so close to my O Levels. Previously, I believed I could self-study and still achieve a good grade for English. However, after receiving my WA1 and WA2 results, I realised my grades were declining from a C6 to a D7. That was when I told my mum that I needed tuition.

During my time at Illum.e, I learnt a lot from Mr Roger. He always took the time to explain every detail clearly, especially words or concepts that students were unsure of. Beyond that, Illum.e taught us how to approach questions based on what markers are actually looking for. This helped me understand how to answer effectively without overthinking or overwriting during exams.

As a result, I was able to manage my time much better in my actual O Levels. I am truly grateful to Illum.e and for my own hard work, which helped me achieve a B3 for my English O Levels.

Subjects Offered

  • Primary English (P1-P6)

Teaching Methodology

  • Middle Primary English lessons focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • The Thinking Frames method gives children a step-by-step way to organise ideas before tackling questions or writing tasks.
  • Lessons address grammar, oral communication, comprehension and creative writing.

8. The Edu Experience

Overview of Business

The Edu Experience is a primary-focused tuition provider offering English, Chinese, Math and Science, with a distinctive Unlimited Tuition model. For parents researching Primary 4 English Tuition, this setup may be appealing if the main issue is not just weak understanding, but also a lack of consistent practice. The Edu Experience tries to ease that by letting students attend extra classes at no additional cost beyond their fixed weekly lesson, subject to their model limits. Their English programme covers grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, oral and creative writing, while class sizes stay capped at 13.

Why Parents Choose The Edu Experience?

Many parents notice that their child understands an English concept during one lesson, then forgets it a week later. That is where The Edu Experience’s Unlimited Tuition model can be attractive. The ability to attend extra classes may help Primary 4 children who need more repetition in grammar, writing or comprehension without parents paying separately for every additional session. Small class sizes and one-to-one consultations are also useful for children who hesitate to speak up in group settings.

I discovered and enrolled my children into TEE late last year. I love their concept of "unlimited tuition", where children can come and attend lessons again to better grasp the concepts. My children have greatly benefited from this, and I can see their progress over the months.
The centre also provides both children and parents with a space to eat, mingle and study, fostering a sense of community and belonging, rather than just being a place where students just come and go. Over the past 5 months, I observed the transformation of my children's learning attitude. They are now far more motivated and engaged than before, making use of the after school hours fruitfully. My children take TEE as their second home, and I’m so grateful for the positive impact TEE has had on their growth!

The quality of teaching at this tutoring center is excellent. The teachers are very professional and patient, offering personalized guidance based on each student's learning needs.

My two sons really enjoys the unlimited class sessions. He says that when he doesn't understand something the first time, by the second or third session, it becomes clear. Attending multiple sessions has a noticeable effect. The lessons are engaging, often involving Scientific Experiment and free English Writing classes to enhance understanding. Every year they take the kids on field trips to places like (Science Museum, Aquarium, and Zoo)which greatly boost the children's interest in learning.

The center's environment is also very comfortable, The classroom is bright and spacious , with a waiting area for parents, fully equipped facilities, and a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended for students who want to improve their grades!

My son has been studying English and Math at this tutoring center since April. The teachers are very attentive and patient, with a great ability to guide the children. They can lead the kids to complete tasks diligently and cultivate their interest in learning, which I find excellent. In the TURN3 Math exam, my child achieved a perfect score for the first time in the class, and I’m very proud of him. I believe this is also a great encouragement for the tutoring teachers, showing that their work is effective. Within just a few months, my son’s English vocabulary and reading skills have improved, making English and Math the subjects I find most worthwhile. Lastly, I want to extend my sincere thanks to his Math teacher, Phoebe, and his English teacher,Jessy!❤️😊

10. iMatter Learning Centre

10. iMatter Learning Centre

Overview of Business

iMatter Learning Centre is a smaller MOE-approved tuition provider based in Yishun, known for cosy classes and close teacher attention. For parents looking at Primary 4 English Tuition, iMatter may be worth considering if your child tends to get overlooked in larger classes or needs a calmer setting to ask questions. Their primary English programme covers writing, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, oral and listening, while also using metacognitive habits such as analysing question requirements and checking common errors. This can be valuable at Primary 4, when children start needing more self-awareness about why an answer is weak.

Why Parents Choose iMatter Learning Centre?

Small class size is likely the biggest draw here. For a child who is quiet, easily distracted, or embarrassed to speak up, a group of six or fewer can feel much less intimidating than a bigger tuition room. iMatter also appears to teach through explanation and examples rather than just handing out worksheets, which may matter if your child completes practice but still does not understand the mistakes. For Yishun families especially, convenience plus a more personal learning environment may be enough to make iMatter a practical option.

How to Choose the Best Primary 4 English Tuition for Your Child?

The best Primary 4 English Tuition is not always the most popular or the most intensive. More often, it is the option that fits your child’s actual learning pattern, current gaps and weekly routine. As you compare these Primary 4 tuition centres, it helps to look beyond marketing language and focus on a few practical points that really affect day-to-day learning.

  • Choose based on your child’s main English need, whether that is composition writing, comprehension answering, grammar accuracy, oral confidence or all-round support.
  • Check if the teaching approach suits your child, because some children respond better to structured drills, while others need discussion, guided writing or one-to-one explanation.
  • Look at tutor experience, class size and feedback quality, especially if your child tends to stay quiet or repeat the same mistakes without understanding why.
  • Factor in practical issues such as location, lesson timing, travel fatigue, reviews and whether the fee level feels sustainable over time.

A thoughtful match usually works better than rushing into the nearest English tuition option. If possible, shortlist two or three choices, ask targeted questions, and choose the setup where your child is most likely to learn steadily, feel supported and build confidence again.
